Background / History

Qian Renxue’s Mission and Pregnancy

Qian Daoliu sent Qian Renxue to Heaven Dou when she was nine years old. He enforced strict secrecy around her identity, later insisting that her appearance, voice, and even existence must remain unknown to outsiders 77 172.

After She Long reported Qian Renxue’s unexplained pregnancy, Qian Daoliu confronted her before the Seven Offerings. His threats against the unidentified father disrupted their questioning so badly that the other Offerings sent him away. He subsequently ordered Qian Renxue to remain in Spirit Hall until the birth 1.

Although he tacitly permitted Guang Ling to take her shopping, he opposed keeping the child. He burned the baby clothes and supplies Qian Renxue had prepared, rejected Guang Ling’s plea for mercy, and suppressed news of the pregnancy to prevent rumors before eliminating the baby 4 6 8.

Confrontation over Lin Luo

When Qian Renxue went into labor, Qian Daoliu rushed to her residence and ordered the newborn brought outside. Guang Ling opposed him, but Qian Daoliu shattered his arrow and wounded him with a palm strike. Golden Crocodile and the remaining Offerings then blocked his advance, unwilling to hurt Qian Renxue 8 9.

After surviving an earlier overwhelming attack, Qian Daoliu believed Lin Luo’s supposed biological father had intervened. He nevertheless threatened the baby to force that man to appear. Lin Luo responded with the one-use Group Weakness Skill, leaving Qian Daoliu and several other Spirit Hall leaders powerless 16.

Once he recovered, Qian Daoliu accepted Qian Renxue’s fabricated explanation that the father came from outside the Douluo Continent and that she had willingly borne his child. He stopped demanding Lin Luo’s death but made family recognition conditional on the baby awakening the Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul 17.

The Angel Soul Seal Test

Qian Daoliu presided over Lin Luo’s first-birthday selection ceremony, promising one request related to the object he chose. Knowing Guang Ling had coached the baby to select the Angel Soul Seal, he concealed it inside an ordinary blacksmith’s hammer 50 51.

Lin Luo chose the hammer to obtain rare metals for a system mission, inadvertently selecting the hidden seal. Qian Daoliu interpreted the result as heaven’s will. He acknowledged the clan rule that a child who selected the seal would become Spirit Hall’s future ruler, but still refused to surrender leadership to anyone without the Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul 51 52.

Secrecy and Bo Saixi’s Visit

Upon discovering that Lin Luo had spent two months roaming Spirit Hall Academy, Qian Daoliu reprimanded Qian Renxue, Bibi Dong, Guang Ling, and Azure Luan for concealing it. Lin Luo’s first “Great-grandpa” briefly unsettled him, but he still confined mother and son to the inner plaza until their departure for Heaven Dou 77.

His own discretion failed when Bo Saixi visited. Overjoyed to see her, he revealed that his granddaughter and great-grandson lived in the northern hall district despite the other Offerings’ attempts to stop him. He then exaggerated his closeness to Lin Luo, claiming to have cared for him since birth and taught him to paint 80 81 83.

The Twelve-Winged Angel

News that Lin Luo had awakened a Twelve-Winged Angel Martial Soul drove Qian Daoliu to consult the ancestral tablets. He repeatedly drafted admissions of fault and requests for the boy’s return, but discarded them rather than lose face. His final reply was simply “Average,” despite his intense shock and regret 96 97.

Bo Saixi’s presence in Heaven Dou later supplied an excuse to visit without openly retracting his indifference. Qian Daoliu questioned Bibi Dong about Lin Luo’s twelve differently attributed wings, then examined the boy alongside Bo Saixi. Discovering that Lin Luo’s two Hundred-Year Soul Rings had become Thousand-Year rings led him to silently suspect divine intervention 143 144 146.

Qian Renxue stopped him from touching the wings, angry that he still denied caring about her son. When he questioned whether the manifestation was an Angel Martial Soul at all, she ordered him out and threatened to raise an assassin alarm. He left the palace and considered returning to the Heaven Dou Temple for lodging 147.

Assassination Investigation

Qian Daoliu detected a powerful killing intent within the imperial palace before Dugu Bo’s second assassination attempt. He intervened outside Xue Ye’s chambers, an action for which Qian Renxue later thanked him, although he remained visibly offended by their earlier disagreement 164 165 169.

Following Dugu Bo’s death, he ordered an investigation into Tang San. After learning that Tang San’s father was Tang Hao and that a hidden Titled Douluo had protected the boy, Qian Daoliu and Bibi Dong suspected a Clear Sky Sect plot. They chose to prioritize locating the sect’s hideout rather than monitoring Tang San 169 172.

Appearance

  • Eyes: Golden 96.
  • Age presentation: An elderly man; he refers to himself as an “old man,” and the narration describes his aged appearance 52 147.
  • Bearing: Usually stern and imposing, occupying the seat of honor during both family judgment and ceremonial proceedings 1 50.

Personality

Qian Daoliu is stubborn, authoritarian, and difficult to dissuade once he has chosen a course. His concern for Qian Renxue is genuine, but frequently becomes coercive: he threatens her child, destroys her preparations for motherhood, and restricts her movements while believing he is protecting her 6 16 77.

He places the Angel Clan’s future above personal preference. He expects descendants to shoulder responsibility rather than simply pursue happiness, reveres the Six-Winged Angel God, and treats ceremonial choices as expressions of divine will. Even after Lin Luo selects the Angel Soul Seal, Qian Daoliu insists that an appropriate Angel Martial Soul remains indispensable for succession 51 52.

His pride repeatedly conceals affection and regret. He resents Lin Luo learning “Grandma” before “Great-grandpa,” privately treasures being addressed first, and cannot bring himself to apologize after learning of the Twelve-Winged Angel. Around Bo Saixi, his usual severity gives way to nervousness, eagerness, and conspicuous attempts to impress her 41 77 81 96.

Abilities & Skills

Level 99 Soul Power

His cultivation places him overwhelmingly above Guang Ling, a Super Douluo 9 165.

  • Destroys Guang Ling’s arrow of light with one hand 9.
  • Pulls Guang Ling toward him with Soul Power and wounds him with a palm strike 9.
  • Releases pressure strong enough to shake nearby buildings and dislodge roof tiles and gravel 9.
  • Uses an invisible force to lift Lin Luo and draw him closer for examination 146.

Spiritual Perception

Qian Daoliu can detect threatening presences beyond the immediate room 164 165.

  • Senses killing intent elsewhere in the imperial palace and determines that its source exceeds the Soul Douluo level 165.
  • Obtains a clearer impression than Bibi Dong, whose own spiritual search initially produces only a vague result 165.
  • His detection does not immediately reveal the assassin’s identity or intended target 165.

Angel Clan Knowledge

He consults ancestral records and understands traditions governing the Angel Clan and Spirit Hall’s succession 51 52 96.

  • Recognizes the historical significance of a Twelve-Winged Angel Martial Soul 96.
  • Knows the rule linking selection of the Angel Soul Seal to future leadership of Spirit Hall 52.
  • Recognizes that absorbed Soul Rings increasing in age suggests divine intervention, but cannot determine the properties of Lin Luo’s wings through visual examination alone 146 147.

Known Vulnerability

  • Group Weakness Skill: Lin Luo’s system-granted ability renders him unable to muster strength, control Soul Power, or use his abilities for thirty seconds. His Level 99 cultivation does not prevent its effect 16 17.

Equipment / Items

  • Angel Soul Seal — A golden cube decorated with feathers and a Six-Winged Angel totem, associated with command over Spirit Hall’s forces. Qian Daoliu conceals it inside the hammer used in Lin Luo’s selection ceremony 49 51.
  • Golden eagle — Carries his written response concerning Lin Luo’s Martial Soul and later delivers Qian Renxue’s message about events in Heaven Dou 96 143.

Relationships

  • Qian Renxue — Granddaughter. His affection is strained by strict expectations, secrecy, and her repeated defiance in defense of Lin Luo 16 77 147.
  • Lin Luo — Great-grandson. Initially targeted for death, then conditionally tolerated; his talents repeatedly undermine Qian Daoliu’s attempts to remain dismissive 8 17 77 96.
  • Bo Saixi — Longtime acquaintance and object of enduring romantic affection. He calls her “Xi Xi” and becomes unusually eager and indiscreet around her; she does not reciprocate his enthusiasm during her visit 81.
  • Guang Ling / Light Feather Douluo — Fellow Offering who openly opposes his treatment of Lin Luo. Qian Daoliu injures him during the birth confrontation and later threatens his position after another dispute 9 51 52.
  • Golden Crocodile Douluo — Second Offering and trusted junior brother. Despite his loyalty, he blocks Qian Daoliu from advancing on Qian Renxue’s newborn 9.
  • Bibi Dong — Spirit Hall’s Pope and his daughter-in-law. Initially shares his opposition to Lin Luo, later challenges his treatment of the child, and works with him on the assassination investigation 8 52 169 172.
