Long Legs

The A9 dormitory building was already a good distance from the main campus, and even on the first day of school, it was surprisingly quiet.

At three in the afternoon, the sun had dipped a little to the west, gradually stretching out the shadow of the old Republican-era building.

A southern magnolia stood in front of the dormitory, while clusters of osmanthus trees grew by the corner of the wall.

Whenever a breeze stirred, the delicate, sweet scent of osmanthus would slowly spread through the air.

Tang Yi went downstairs in high spirits to meet his girlfriend. Curious what she looked like, Gao Qiang leaned against a corridor window to sneak a peek. Finally, he called back into the dorm room, "Hey, aren't you two curious what his girlfriend looks like?"

"What's there to be curious about? She's probably just fair-skinned and beautiful, with long legs."

Zhou Yuwen smiled. He said he wasn't curious, but walked over to the window anyway.

"You're joking, right? A guy like him, how pretty could his girlfriend be?"

With Tang Yi out of earshot, Gao Qiang spoke rather freely. Given how arrogantly Tang Yi had behaved earlier, Gao Qiang had shown restraint by not saying it to his face.

Tang Yi was actually fairly good-looking, though he was a little scrawnier than Gao Qiang. As for his height, Tang Yi claimed to be 172 centimeters, but Gao Qiang reckoned he wasn't even 170.

How pretty could the girlfriend of a guy like that be?

The southern magnolia blocked half the view from the window. Not until Tang Yi appeared at the dormitory entrance did a pair of very long, slender female legs step into view in the distance.

Once Gao Qiang got a clear look at the girl talking to Tang Yi, he froze.

What?

The girl was about 169 centimeters tall, roughly the same height as Chen Rongrong, but her different proportions made her look taller and more slender.

Chen Rongrong weighed around 58 kilograms, while the girl before them looked to be only about 49. She wore a cropped, cream-colored knitted camisole, its thin straps resting on her rounded shoulders.

She had a fine figure and a long, graceful neck. Though she was slim, she didn't look frail in the camisole. Her chest wasn't as spectacular as Chen Rongrong's, but on her frame, it was still a case of heavy fruit hanging from slender branches.

Below, a dark blue denim miniskirt hugged her small but pert buttocks, its hem fitting snugly against her slender, fair thighs.

She was clearly about the same height as Chen Rongrong, yet her legs looked much longer. Perhaps it was the light, but from Zhou Yuwen's angle, they looked not only long and slender, but so fair they seemed to glow.

She wore a clean pair of white sneakers, with pure cotton white socks around her ankles.

She stood there, looking lovely.

Because of the distance, Zhou Yuwen and Gao Qiang couldn't hear what they were saying. They only saw Tang Yi point at the Mercedes-Benz parked nearby. He was probably saying that, in this lousy rural place, someone could actually afford to drive a Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Xia Hui didn't respond to that. Instead, she handed Tang Yi the paper bag she was carrying.

She also chided him for being so forgetful that she'd had to make a trip herself.

Tang Yi took the paper bag and scratched his head awkwardly.

The two chatted about a few other things after that. Gao Qiang had never met such a pretty girl before. He couldn't understand how someone who looked like Tang Yi could possibly have a girlfriend like her.

A fine cabbage really had been rooted up by a pig.

At that moment, who knew what came over him? As if possessed, he cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted at Tang Yi, "Oi! Brother Yi! Your girlfriend's here, aren't you going to introduce us?"

His voice rang especially loudly through the thin air, and the two downstairs quickly turned their heads.

Gao Qiang stood there grinning, while Zhou Yuwen watched the pair with interest from the window.

Xia Hui asked Tang Yi who the two upstairs were.

Tang Yi awkwardly answered that they were his roommates.

Xia Hui said, "You seem to be getting along well with your roommates."

"Ah, they're just calling me that for no reason. Don't take it seriously." Tang Yi's face reddened a little, but he wasn't angry. It felt like something that gave him face.

Xia Hui didn't say anything more. She had come this time because Tang Yi's mother had asked her to bring him something.

Now that she had delivered it, Xia Hui told him to get along with his roommates.

"I'm going back to my dorm first."

"Hey!" Seeing that Xia Hui was leaving so soon, Tang Yi grew a little anxious. He couldn't help asking her, "Do you have something to do back at your dorm?"

"Mm, no. I pretty much finished setting up my dorm at noon, so there's nothing to do back there." Xia Hui checked the time on her phone. There were still more than two hours until the class meeting.

Being alone in this unfamiliar city really was rather boring.

"Then how about we find somewhere to play cards? We're bored anyway."

"Just the two of us?"

"Of course not! I'll get my roommates to come!" Tang Yi hurriedly said.

Xia Hui murmured an assent. Looking down at her phone, she said to herself, "Let me think. I'll ask my roommate if she wants to come."

"Mm-hmm, ask her!" Tang Yi said eagerly.

Two minutes later, Xia Hui said yes.

"She happens to have nothing to do in the dorm either. We're all in the same class, so it'd be good to get to know each other."

With that, the two made their plans and parted.

Tang Yi happily carried the package Xia Hui had given him upstairs. Before he could enter the dorm room, Gao Qiang blocked him at the door.

"Damn! Brother Yi! Your girlfriend's something else! She's so hot!"

"Get lost, get lost! What are you yelling about? You're acting like you've never seen a woman before!"

Tang Yi was pleased to hear Gao Qiang say that, but he still held back a smile and pretended to sound displeased. After putting his things away, he asked his three roommates, "Hey! Do you have anything to do later?"

"If not, want to go play cards in the cafeteria? I talked to my girlfriend, and she's bringing her roommate along."

"I'm free! Of course I'm free! Brother Yi, you've got to take me with you!"

Gao Qiang's eyes lit up when he heard that. He grabbed Tang Yi's hand and spoke eagerly.

Tang Yi pushed Gao Qiang away with a stern face, thinking that the school really did have all sorts of people. He genuinely felt that Gao Qiang hadn't seen much of the world, and taking him along would only be embarrassing.

Zhou Yuwen and Lu Cancan, on the other hand, hadn't made a sound.

"Zhou Yuwen, are you going?"

"Sure. I don't have anything to do anyway," Zhou Yuwen said indifferently.

"What about you, Cancan?" Tang Yi asked Lu Cancan by the window.

"I..." Lu Cancan hesitated. "I don't know how to play cards."

"I do! Fight the Landlord, Guandan, Zha Jin Hua, Niu Niu! I can play them all! Brother Yi, take me with you! I'll go easy on you so you can show off in front of everyone!" Gao Qiang said with a ingratiating grin.

"You think I need you to go easy on me? Seriously!" Tang Yi rolled his eyes a little at that.

He said, "Could you tone it down a little? My girlfriend's bringing her roommate, and we're all going to be in the same class from now on. Tell me, acting like that, who's going to take a fancy to you?"
