Comprehension: Wielding Something Light as Though It Were Heavy
In the dense forest at the heart of the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts, the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard faced off against Luo Feng, who was leaning against a large tree.
Luo Feng was furious. Was this creature really a Level Eight Magical Beast? Why were its speed and strength nearly on par with a Level Nine Magical Beast's? He had only just broken through to become an Eighth-level Warrior. How could he possibly be a match for the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard?
The Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard stared coldly at Luo Feng, its icy eyes blazing with fury. It had meant to finish him off with a sneak attack, but after all that effort, it still hadn't managed to hurt him. Now it was brimming with rage.
"Whoosh!"
In almost the blink of an eye, the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard crossed nearly fifty meters and reached him. It was nearly a third faster than when the fight began.
Its speed had suddenly increased by a third! Luo Feng had barely been able to dodge the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard's attacks before, but now he was completely outmatched. He couldn't shake it at all, and its defense was giving him a headache as well.
That speed is ridiculous! Luo Feng thought, shocked.
At this point, it could probably cross a hundred meters in the blink of an eye.
It was terrifying!
"There's no choice. Since I can't run, I'll fight!" Luo Feng suddenly leaped up. As he rose, battle-qi erupted from the greatsword in his hands, and he swung it viciously at the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard.
The Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard also watched Luo Feng coldly and lashed out at him with a vicious claw.
"Puchi!"
"Puchi!"
Luo Feng and the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard struck each other almost simultaneously. The leopard's claw left clear marks on Luo Feng's body, and blood seeped out. The leopard itself was sent flying by the blow, but it rolled across the ground and sprang back to its feet, completely unharmed.
"Pfft!" Luo Feng couldn't hold back the blood that had risen to his throat and spat it out.
"Damn it. My attack is still far too weak compared to the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard's defense. If I'd comprehended more of Wielding Something Heavy as Though It Were Light, I could definitely hurt it. Unfortunately, even now, I still haven't managed to comprehend it." Luo Feng's gaze grew somewhat unfocused as he muttered helplessly.
The Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard slammed its hind legs against the ground and flew diagonally toward a nearby tree so thick it would take three or four people to encircle it. Large as it was, it moved with great agility, leaping dozens of meters and lightly pushing off the trunk. It suddenly began to drift unpredictably, as though it were floating without exerting any force. The branches trembled constantly, while its speed increased even further.
A strong wind rose, but Luo Feng had no mind to pay it any attention. He let the fierce gusts blow against him as he stared intently at the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard ahead.
"Wind. This is... wind. Unpredictable, graceful, violent. Fast, slow." Luo Feng watched the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard's movements, seeming to have an idea.
"Haha, I know! I know! Wielding Something Heavy as Though It Were Light! Haha, I was on the wrong path! For years, I've been on the wrong path. I'm such a fool! Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard, come on! Let's fight again!" Luo Feng suddenly burst into wild laughter.
"Whoosh!" Luo Feng, who had been leaning to one side, suddenly straightened and pushed off hard with his right leg. He became a black afterimage, charging toward the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard along an unpredictable path.
The Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard found the human before it very strange. The human who had stood completely still actually dared to come charging at it. It seemed he still hadn't accepted his fate. He knew he was slower than me, yet he still charged in to attack. How ridiculous.
Luo Feng no longer used the mercenary greatsword. It had broken during his fight with the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard, and he had no intention of using it now anyway. It was that greatsword that had confined his thinking and led him down the wrong path.
Using the momentum to rush forward, he swiftly closed in on the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard and threw his fists like lightning. Fist shadows filled the air, roaring forth as he followed through and smashed straight at the leopard with tremendous force.
The fist shadows struck like lightning, slamming into the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard's body. Its body caved in unnaturally beneath the blows, and the sound of breaking bones rang out.
"Haha, yes, even like this. That's right, that's it! I've comprehended it! This is Wielding Something Heavy as Though It Were Light. No, it's not Wielding Something Heavy as Though It Were Light, but Wielding Something Light as Though It Were Heavy!" Luo Feng laughed as he looked at the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard.
All this time, ever since Luo Feng had begun learning combat techniques, he had used a heavy sword. That was because Linley had used one in the original story, and the vast majority of people on the Yulan Continent used heavy swords as well. But because of that, Luo Feng had unknowingly gone down the wrong path.
Luo Feng's talents lay in wind, water, and lightning, not the Earth Element. Linley had used the Earth Element to comprehend Wielding Something Heavy as Though It Were Light, but Luo Feng's talent for the Earth Element could be said to be zero. He had neglected the Wind Element, in which he excelled, and tried to use the Earth Element to comprehend Wielding Something Heavy as Though It Were Light. Wasn't that putting the cart before the horse?
A light weapon like Linley's Purple Blood Soft Sword should have suited Luo Feng, not a greatsword. Perhaps once Luo Feng comprehended Wielding Something Heavy as Though It Were Light, he could draw on it to comprehend Wielding Something Light as Though It Were Heavy. But without exceptional talent in the Earth Element, how long would it take him to comprehend the former? Ten years? Twenty? Why neglect his talent for the Wind Element and put the cart before the horse by trying to comprehend Wielding Something Heavy as Though It Were Light? Why take such a long detour, only to then comprehend Wielding Something Light as Though It Were Heavy by deriving it from Wielding Something Heavy as Though It Were Light?
Watching the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard's body crash heavily to the ground with a "bang," and seeing the blood on its fur, Luo Feng knew he had comprehended Wielding Something Light as Though It Were Heavy. He had waited a long time for this step, and he had finally managed to comprehend it.
"I comprehended this through the speed of the Laws of Wind. From now on, this move will be called Swift Wind," Luo Feng murmured.
"Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard, you've been kicking me around for so long. Now it's time you had a taste of it yourself," Luo Feng said.
"Roar!" The Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard let out a disgruntled roar. He felt this was absurd. Just a moment ago, I was the one kicking him around, and now our positions have been reversed. Life really does have its ups and downs.
Luo Feng paid no attention to what the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard was thinking. After being beaten up for so long, how could he not get revenge? He pushed off with his toes and charged forward, fists swinging.
"Roar!"
"Yow!"
Luo Feng and the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard attacked each other madly. Afterimages dodged back and forth, blood sprayed through the air... Roars rang out without end as Luo Feng and the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard exchanged blows at high speed, while the nearby trees and boulders suffered.
Trees crashed down, and boulders shattered.
Everywhere the two passed was reduced to ruins.
Suddenly, the two separated. Luo Feng stood straight as a javelin, looking mockingly at the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard, while the leopard watched him as though facing a formidable enemy.
The Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard was covered in blood from head to toe.
He could no longer withstand Luo Feng's fists. In terms of speed, Luo Feng couldn't catch up to him, but his fist shadows were everywhere, forming an impenetrable barrage, and every punch landed squarely. Once the leopard entered its range, he simply couldn't get away.
"Weren't you enjoying yourself just now? Aren't you fast? Don't you like sneak attacks? Come on, let's keep going!" Luo Feng shouted as he rained down punches and kicks. He beat the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard, a peak Level Eight Magical Beast that was almost a Level Nine Magical Beast, until it was utterly unable to resist. Mouthful after mouthful of blood spilled from its jaws.
Luo Feng kicked the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard hard in the abdomen, then rushed to the other side and punched its body, knocking it back again.
He punched and kicked it for a mere ten seconds.
In that time, Luo Feng gave the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard a terrible beating.
After a long while, the Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard, which no longer looked anything like a Level Eight Magical Beast, finally made it through the most miserable day of his life. Even hundreds of years later, after becoming a Saint-level Magical Beast, he still couldn't forget the painful experience.
"All right, I've finished venting. You deserve quite a bit of credit for my comprehending Wielding Something Light as Though It Were Heavy this time, so I won't kill you. Crimson Wind Cloud Leopard, you can go," Luo Feng finally said after venting his frustration.
