Background

The Heavenly Fire Sect is a fire-element-focused cultivation sect based in the Cloud Sky Mountain Range. It is one of hundreds of sects in the Eastern Wasteland and was originally regarded as mid-tier, though it had a longstanding rivalry with the nearby Mystic Moon Sect. The two sects maintained an outwardly cordial relationship while engaging in a covert struggle through their disciples and outside agents. 35

The sect has traditionally prioritized spiritual cultivation over body refining. Its Outer Sect retains only second-tier body-refining methods, while fourth- and fifth-tier methods are restricted to Inner Sect disciples. 28 44

A previous Sect Master discovered the fragments of the Heavenly Fire Profound Art and Heavenly Fire Divine Elephant Art on a stone tablet in Thunder Plains Ancient City a century earlier. The fragments became the sect's ultimate inheritances, but the sect later lost both its top-fifty standing in the Hundred Sects Assembly and its territory in the ancient city. 110

History

Decline and the Mystic Moon Rivalry

Before Lin Changkong's rise, the Heavenly Fire Sect was only a mid-tier Eastern Wasteland sect and had repeatedly failed to place among the top fifty at the Hundred Sects Assembly. The Mystic Moon Sect, its principal regional rival, had achieved that result while mocking the Heavenly Fire Sect's lack of success. 35 81

The rivalry escalated through covert interference. Mystic Moon Sect disciples manipulated the beast tide at Fengling Pass, while Zhang Qingfeng of the Heavenly Fire Sect secretly collaborated with Mystic Moon Sect disciple Xuan Yin to provoke clashes and profit from the resulting deaths. 45 87

Return to the Hundred Sects Assembly

Tian Shuiyue entrusted Lin Changkong with the Heavenly Fire Profound Art and Heavenly Fire Divine Elephant Art so he could represent the sect at the Hundred Sects Assembly. The sect's objective was initially only to return to the top fifty and regain access to Thunder Plains Ancient City. 110 111

Lin Changkong entered the assembly alone and won it with an unprecedented number of identity tokens. The victory gave the Heavenly Fire Sect the right to claim territory in Thunder Plains Ancient City and restored its standing among the competing sects. 111 137

Recovery of District Thirty-Six

During the territorial allocation, the Three Upper Sects attempted to assign the Heavenly Fire Sect the exhausted District Twenty-Eight. Tian Shuiyue rejected the allocation, demanded the sect's former District Thirty-Six, and forced the Three Upper Sects to surrender its sealing talisman under threat of the Crimson Flame Sky Blade. 140 141

District Thirty-Six became a new point of conflict when the Qing Tian Sect and disciples aligned with the Three Upper Sects resisted the transfer. 143 144

Siege by the Three Upper Sects

The Thunder Cloud, Spirit Sword, and Jade Void Sects later united to destroy the Heavenly Fire Sect and use its members as leverage against Lin Changkong. Their Sect Masters and Grand Elders attacked with ninth-tier weapons while Tian Shuiyue protected the disciples through the Heavenly Fire Great Array. 196 201

The formation was eventually broken after Tian Shuiyue defended it for a day and night. Lin Changkong returned at the critical moment, killed Lei Qianzhang, and fought alongside Tian Shuiyue against the invading sect leaders. 205 206 211

Lin Changkong killed Thunder Cloud Sect Master Lei Tianxiong and Jade Void Sect Master Huangfu Qiyun, while Tian Shuiyue killed the fleeing Huangfu Zhenshan. The resulting collapse of the Thunder Cloud and Jade Void Sects, along with the prior devastation of the Spirit Sword Sect, ended the dominance of the Three Upper Sects. 213

Rise as the New Leading Sect

Following the siege, the Heavenly Fire Sect moved immediately to occupy the territories and seize the resources of the three fallen sects. The remaining Thunder Cloud and Jade Void disciples largely fled, while the holdouts were eliminated. 214 217
