Why Was He Here Again?
Two days later, the Kidō Corps group set up camp.
Wang Xun passed through the gate of the Kidō Corps and walked along the long corridor inside.
In the training ground, many members of the Kidō Corps were practicing.
Someone saw him come in; their eyes flickered slightly, but they quickly looked away.
Why is this person here again?
"I don't know what an outsider like you is doing here in our Kidō Corps."
"I heard that the Great Kidō Priest arranged for him to be an unofficial trainee..."
"But... why should I?"
Whispers came from all corners; they didn't try to lower their voices.
Wang Xun expressionless, walked straight to the sidelines, and found an inconspicuous spot to stand.
Shortly after, Tessai Tsukabishi emerged from the inner room.
He scanned the entire room, his gaze lingering on Wang Xun for a moment before he nodded slightly in acknowledgment. Then, facing the crowd, he spoke in a deep voice.
"You've been practicing the basics of Dual Incantation for some time now."
The team members perked up and stood up straight.
His self-illuminating gaze swept over the crowd.
Who wants to go first?
The training ground fell silent for a moment as everyone looked at each other in bewilderment.
Then, a young team member with an arrogant expression stepped forward.
Tessai Tsukabishi nodded.
The team member took a deep breath, raised his hands, and two different types of Kidō Reiatsu gathered in his palms.
Then, he tried to merge the two orbs of light together.
The moment the two orbs of light made contact, they began to tremble violently.
The team member was sweating profusely as he desperately tried to maintain the sphere, but after only two breaths, the sphere of light collapsed with a deafening roar.
He retreated with a grim expression, followed by a chorus of laughter.
Several other people tried, and the results were similar; the best one managed to maintain it for less than three breaths.
Tessai Tsukabishi remained expressionless, revealing neither joy nor anger.
But the atmosphere around them clearly began to become somewhat somber.
Tessai Tsukabishi's gaze fell on Wang Xun in the corner of the field.
"Wang Xun, you've been studying for about the same amount of time as them, why don't you give it a try?"
Upon Wang Xun looked at Tessai Tsukabishi.
All eyes in the training field instantly focused on it.
He walked to the center of the field and raised his hands.
Crimson and cyan began to intertwine and rotate, forming a stable double helix structure.
The team members who were whispering just moments before were now much quieter, and many of them looked quite resentful.
They were starting to realize something. Could this person be someone the Great Kidō Priest was using to teach them a lesson?
After Wang Xun finished his demonstration, he dissipated his Reiatsu and stepped aside.
Tessai Tsukabishi nodded, his tone indifferent.
"Good."
But a hint of appreciation clearly flashed in those deep eyes.
"A few days ago, he came to the Kidō Corps for the first time, but now he has successfully mastered the rudiments of Dual Incantation."
"Some of you have been practicing for over two months, but how many of you have actually succeeded?"
"Keep practicing," he said, turning to the team members. "Some of you are being too lax."
The team members remained silent and dispersed to practice.
But Wang Xun could sense that those gazes had become more complicated.
It wasn't just contempt and resentment; at this moment, jealousy and confusion were also intertwined.
During a training break, several members dressed in Kidō Corps uniforms took the opportunity to approach Wang Xun and look him up and down.
Which squad are you from?
Wang Xun glanced at the group of people; judging from their clothing and attitude, they were all likely from noble families.
After all, ordinary people rarely have the means to enter the Kidō Corps.
Unlike the Gotei 13, the Kidō Corps, like the Stealth Force, are the private domains of nobles.
"The Stealth Force, Second Division."
The man was taken aback.
"The Stealth Force?"
"Yes."
"Why are you, someone from the Stealth Force, not properly honing your Hakuda skills, coming here to learn Kidō?"
After receiving a response from the Stealth Force, the questioner's contempt and hostility noticeably subsided, and his arrogant attitude softened somewhat.
However, Wang Xun did not answer.
Seeing that he didn't speak, the man frowned slightly and glanced at the longhouse next to the training ground.
Tessai Tsukabishi was resting inside and was unaware of the commotion outside.
"Even though you're from the Stealth Force, it's not appropriate for an outsider like you to frequently frequent places like this, is it?"
Upon hearing this, the other team members all turned to look.
The atmosphere was somewhat awkward.
At that moment, Tessai Tsukabishi's voice came from behind them.
"Wang Xun is a specially approved extra-staff student. If you have any opinions, you can speak with me."
The team member's expression changed, and he turned to look at the Kidō who had appeared out of nowhere, quickly bowing.
"No, I wouldn't dare."
Tessai Tsukabishi walked up to the two men, his gaze falling on the team member, his tone calm yet carrying an invisible pressure.
"He's studying the Kaidō in the Fourth Division, learning Kidō from the Kidō Corps, and still managing his Stealth Force training. What about you guys?"
"Complacent with the status quo, lacking ambition, their training attitude is extremely negative."
"Just because you got a position through your ancestors' connections, do you think everything is fine?"
The team member lowered his head and remained silent; in the shadows where no one could see him, he clenched his teeth.
Tessai Tsukabishi scanned the entire field, his gaze finally settling on that team member.
"Any other questions?"
The team member's face flushed red, and finally, he managed to squeeze out a few words through clenched teeth.
"I apologize, Kidō, it was I... who offended you."
After saying that, he and the others behind him turned and left.
Wang Xun stood still, his expression unchanged, quietly watching the conflict between Tessai Tsukabishi and the other team members.
He vaguely guessed the purpose of this great Kidō master's special permission for him to come and study within the Kidō Corps.
Unfortunately, the outcome seems to have differed from his expectations.
It seems that even within the Kidō Corps, there isn't a monolithic group.
The team atmosphere is far worse than that of the Stealth Force.
Tessai Tsukabishi frowned as he watched the departing team members, his lips twitching slightly, but he ultimately said nothing more.
"These guys are used to being arrogant. I'll be putting more pressure on them from now on, please forgive me."
Upon hearing this, Wang Xun spoke softly.
"It's alright."
"I was wondering why the Great Kidō Master had summoned me to the Kidō Corps for training. Turns out, he wanted to use me as a spur to these lazy members."
"But now it seems to have the opposite effect."
Tessai Tsukabishi's face was grave as he let out a heavy sigh.
"I'm sorry, young man."
"These guys are even more short-sighted than I expected."
Wang Xun smiled lightly, quite carefree.
"Master Kidō, please don't take it to heart."
"I'm here to learn, not to make friends. What they think of me is none of my business."
He glanced sideways at the team members who were still practicing, his voice so soft that only the two of them could hear him.
"Besides... if they train even harder because of my existence, then I've made a contribution to the Kidō Corps."
"I don't care about anything else."
After all, having enough fragments to collect is enough.
Upon hearing this, Tessai Tsukabishi gave him a deep look.
Those deep eyes were filled with admiration, and also a hint of something... anticipation.
"Tessai Tsukabishi said slowly."
"Fine, just focus on your studies and don't worry about them."
"Speaking of which, your foundation in Dual Incantation is already quite solid. Shall we start learning the techniques that follow?"
Although Wang Xun had already learned from Unohana, Tessai Tsukabishi's demonstration must have contained different insights and fragments.
Including his previous private practice in the Fourth Division and Unohana's subsequent guidance, his proficiency in Double Incantation has made encouraging progress.
[Double Incantation: Beginner (45%)]
With that thought, Wang Xun nodded slightly.
"Then I'll have to trouble you, Great Kidō Priest."
