Life in the Fourth Division
The morning sunlight streamed through the window lattice, casting dappled shadows on the wooden floor of the Fourth Division training room.
Wang Xun sat cross-legged opposite the Unohana, his hands outstretched, with a pale green ball of Reiatsu floating above his palms.
Then, he slowly pressed his hand on the simulated medical prosthetic spirit in front of him.
Inside the sphere of light, a fine network of Reishi could be faintly seen slowly reassembling.
"There are seven main nodes in this area of the soul's spiritual veins."
Unohana's voice was as calm as still water.
"Although you only successfully simulated repairs in five places, that's already quite good."
Wang Xun dispersed the light Kaidō from his hand, wiped the fine sweat from his forehead, and focused his mind and energy once more.
"Captain Unohana, could you please demonstrate again? I feel like... it's just a little bit off."
Upon hearing this, Unohana nodded and demonstrated it again.
The fragments fell and were absorbed by Wang Xun.
Wang Xun understood, and then began his second attempt.
This time, his Reiatsu threads were more precise, and the seven nodes were repaired one by one. Finally, a subtle fluctuation of Reiatsu connected the entire meridian.
Unohana nodded slightly, a flash of surprise crossing her eyes.
"Good."
Wang Xun let out a soft breath.
"It's all thanks to Captain Unohana's excellent teaching."
Unohana chuckled lightly, not feeling that she had done anything to teach.
After only a few demonstrations, the person in front of her was able to completely replicate her thought process—a talent she had never heard of before.
She finally understood what was going on with that indescribable expression on Kiyonosuke when he talked about Wang Xun's learning progress.
"It's about time, let's call it a day."
"Unohana said."
Wang Xun nodded and then flexed his wrists.
He had gotten used to this rhythm, and his Kaidō skills were indeed improving at an astonishing rate.
Wang Xun glanced at the current panel.
[Spiritual Might: Rank 7 (Experience: 11500/12000)]
[Kidō: Iv5 (Experience: 5750/8000)]
Two months ago, he could only treat superficial injuries.
Now, under the watchful eye of Unohana, he can attempt to simulate repairing damage to the spiritual veins.
After that, one can then engage in the study and research of the highest realms of Kaidō, such as organ Regeneration and soul repair.
Even Wang Xun himself felt that this progress was a bit too fast.
He now simply follows Unohana around every day, watching her cast spells, absorbing the fragments she drops, and occasionally practicing a few times under her guidance.
Then, those advanced skills that required years of hard work to master were naturally integrated into his body.
Under Unohana's guidance, the progress from Reiatsu channeling to meridian reconstruction, and then to organ repair, which has not yet been attempted, is incredibly fast.
Even Unohana couldn't help but start thinking about what else she could teach him after some time had passed.
A long time ago, she felt that Wang Xun had some talent in the Kaidō and suggested that Wang Xun to the Fourth Division for further study, but she didn't actually have any special expectations for Wang Xun.
But Wang Xun's current abilities have made her genuinely consider poaching him.
After all, the position of vice-captain will be temporarily vacant soon after Kiyōnosuke Yamada is transferred to the Shin'ō Medical Institute.
Unohana hasn't decided yet who to appoint as the vice-captain.
However, Wang Xun is fully capable of replacing Kiyōnosuke Yamada.
She was now actually starting to consider Kiyōnosuke Yamada's suggestion to recruit Wang Xun.
"Okay, let's go eat."
Unohana was tidying up the books on the table.
"I have a team meeting this afternoon, so remember to practice diligently and don't slack off."
Upon hearing Unohana's voice, Wang Xun responded and left the training room.
As he walked down the corridor, several members of the Fourth Division approached him, their gazes lingering for a moment upon seeing him.
"That's Wang Xun?"
"Yes, I heard it's the one from the Second Division."
"It hasn't been long, and she's already working for Captain Unohana."
"They're probably not some aristocratic scion here just to get a prestigious degree, are they...?"
A cacophony of whispers rose behind him, but Wang Xun continued walking, his expression unchanged.
He was already used to the gossip.
Although the Fourth Division is a peaceful place, news travels quite fast.
Many people already know that Wang Xun's current Kaidō cultivation is very high, but not many people have actually seen it.
Moreover, it's hard to believe that an outside team member could catch up with the senior Seated Officer's level of Kaidō in just two months; it's impossible not to attract attention.
Wang Xun walked quickly to the cafeteria. There weren't many people there. Wang Xun carried his tray and found a corner seat to sit down.
He had only taken a few bites when a figure appeared opposite him.
"Wang Xun?"
Wang Xun up and saw a delicate face, with loose silver-gray hair and a tall figure; it was Isane Kotetsu.
"Isane, there are empty seats, please sit wherever you like."
Isane put down her plate and sat down opposite Wang Xun, but did not pick up her chopsticks immediately.
She blinked her bright, large eyes and stared straight at Wang Xun, her gaze filled with a complex emotion.
"What's wrong?"
Noticing her gaze, Wang Xun asked.
"It's nothing," Isane shook her head, but couldn't help saying, "I just think you're really amazing."
Wang Xun, his chopsticks still.
Why bring this up all of a sudden?
She lowered her head, poking at the food on her plate with her chopsticks, her voice muffled.
"You arrived later than me. You weren't even here when I first joined the Fourth Division, but now..."
She raised her eyes, her gaze filled with a hint of envy and a touch of disappointment.
"I'm still learning basic trauma treatment and Reiatsu management, but you're already able to assist Captain Unohana in treating the team members."
Wang Xun remained silent for a moment.
He knew that Isane was a talented player.
In the original work, she was the vice-captain designated by Unohana to be by her side after Kiyōnosuke Yamada.
After the Thousand-Year Blood War, she succeeded Unohana as the captain of the Fourth Division.
Her talent is absolutely outstanding among her peers.
However, you can't compare yourself to a dog that's been cheated on.
Wang Xun ate his meal in silence.
The girl, who was still a junior member of the Fourth Division, was looking up at him with an admiring gaze.
"You're very talented too. Given your abilities, you'll achieve great things in the future."
Isane shook her head. Although Wang Xun spoke sincerely, she only Wang Xun comforting her.
"Thank you for comforting me, but I know my skill level is far inferior to yours."
She paused, then suddenly asked.
"Speaking of which, have you ever thought about being transferred to the Fourth Division?"
Upon hearing this, Wang Xun stopped eating and looked at her.
Isane felt a little embarrassed by his gaze, but she still mustered up her courage to continue.
" With Kaidō talent, it's a shame to keep you in the Second Division. If you apply for a transfer, Captain Unohana will definitely agree..."
Sorry, I don't have that idea yet.
Isane was taken aback when she heard Wang Xun's voice.
Why?
