Fortunately, the bus had enough room. Getting aboard was cramped, but it would not be filled to capacity.
"Who knows how to drive a bus?"
Amid the panic, the people on the second and third buses finally realized how serious the situation was.
What good was getting aboard?
If nobody could drive, they would die all the same!
The bus carrying the Rampage Group naturally had no such problem. Wang Qian was a member of the Technician Sequence, so driving a bus was easy for her.
It had only taken so long to set off because more people had boarded the Rampage Group's bus than the other two combined.
Just as anxiety gripped the people on the second and third buses, someone suddenly noticed Wang Qian sitting in the driver's seat.
The three buses were parked side by side, so it was no surprise that someone could see Wang Qian!
"That little bitch can drive! Grab her!"
With their lives on the line, the survivors no longer had time to fear the Rampage Group's numbers. A shirtless brute pointed at Wang Qian's seat and shouted.
But the moment the words left his mouth, his head burst apart, splattering red and white matter all over the bus.
Everyone looked up and saw black light shining from Liu Lu's palm.
Clearly, the brute's death was his handiwork!
This was the first time the survivors had witnessed the power of the Superpower Sequence!
A burly brute whom even three or five people could not get close to had been killed in an instant!
And his killer had even made it look easy...
The noisy crowd fell deathly silent. Everyone could seemingly hear their own heartbeat!
As the eerie sounds in the woods drew closer, two middle-aged men finally stepped forward and volunteered to drive.
Like Jiang He, they only knew how to drive ordinary cars. Steeling themselves and stepping forward was a desperate gamble!
The driver of the second bus was fairly lucky and managed to get it started.
Watching the two buses pull away, the people on the third bus sank into despair!
Some had even started jumping out of the windows to escape.
But in the face of Eldritch Horrors, all the struggles of ordinary people were futile!
"Aah~"
Screams rang out behind them, mixed with crunching and chewing sounds, instantly giving the people on the second bus the feeling that they had narrowly escaped death.
Jiang He had no idea what had happened behind him. As he looked in the rearview mirror and saw the body of his bus battered once again, he could not help feeling pained!
"I have to find a driver who knows how to drive a bus!"
Even as a member of the Superpower Sequence, he struggled to cope with the winding mountain road. He often misjudged the distance and scraped against the guardrail...
His driving was so bad that Liu Lu and the others, who had set off much later, had already caught up.
Watching the headlights approach rapidly in the rearview mirror, Jiang He felt as though he possessed a divine artifact but did not know how to use it...
Finally, after rounding a bend, Wang Qian overtook him completely!
Seeing the faintly teasing look in Liu Lu's eyes from the bus beside him made Jiang He feel as miserable as if he had been splattered with shit!
"Goddamn it! I have to grab that little bitch!"
He gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands. Smelling the exhaust fumes, he wished he could fly straight onto the bus ahead and snatch Wang Qian away!
Angry as he was, however, Jiang He did not activate the bus's skills to race them.
He could barely drive as it was. Racing on such a winding mountain road would be courting death!
Most importantly, the bus was almost out of energy...
There was nowhere near enough to activate its skills!
Most of the "scrap" he had found earlier had been used to repair faults, leaving the bus with very little energy stored.
The remains of a little over half a flying squirrel would not last long!
The bus was slowing down, and it was about to enter [starving state].
Jiang He could not help looking behind him at the little girl, who was still trembling!
"She's way too small! She probably wouldn't even be enough to get stuck between its teeth!"
Abandoning the idea of having the bus swallow the little girl, he now regretted not taking a few suckers aboard...
When another set of high beams appeared behind him, Jiang He finally made up his mind!
"I'll have to use that thing!"
With a turn of his hand, he took the energy core out of his storage space and placed it in the bus's storage compartment.
The instant the energy core entered the compartment, a faint ripple of energy spread out.
Though slow, it traveled an enormous distance!
With the energy core supplying power, the bus picked up speed again!
But before Jiang He could rejoice for long, a tremendous rumble sounded behind him.
He looked in the rearview mirror and saw one terrifying figure after another flying over the roof of the bus behind him, rapidly closing in on his own!
Some were short, with long umbilical cords trailing behind them...
Others dragged their tongues, their faces blue and purple...
Some even resembled giant earthworms, rising and sinking through the mountainside, covering over a hundred meters each time they surfaced!
These things had all abandoned those survivors!
Instead, every one of them had set its sights on this Weird bus!
Jiang He naturally knew what these Eldritch Horrors and Mutant Beasts wanted.
But now he was caught in a dilemma...
If he put the energy core away, the bus would lose its power, and death would be certain!
If he used the energy core to speed away, he would not only face pursuit but also stand a very good chance of plunging off the cliff to his death...
"Damn it! You bunch of bullies! Why didn't I see you try to snatch it when the Weird Driver was using it?"
Though he grumbled, when Jiang He saw the many enormous figures rapidly closing in through the rearview mirror,
he made his decision after only a moment's thought.
He reached back and buckled his seat belt, then pressed the Rampage and Toughness buttons on the console without hesitation.
He immediately floored the accelerator!
The bus, which had still been wobbling along, let out a sudden roar from its engine and shot forward at extreme speed.
The little girl, who had poked her head out to see how far away the Eldritch Horrors were, was caught unprepared and nearly flung out of the window by the force.
Fortunately, a rail had been fitted across the bus window, allowing her to escape disaster.
The little girl's head was now pressed tightly against the back of the seat, her hands gripping the armrests. Her little face quickly turned from white to red with the effort.
Even so, she clenched her teeth and did not make a sound!
Jiang He was in no mood to care whether anyone else lived or died.
With the energy core as fuel, he had no need to worry about running out of energy, so he could press the accelerator without reserve.
Moreover, in the Toughness state, the bus's durability increased by 1.5 times.
So even when taking bends, Jiang He did not brake, instead letting the bus scrape against the mountainside to slow down...
Many veteran drivers could not even use this method proficiently, let alone a novice like him!

The sight left Wang Qian dumbfounded. Even as a member of the Technician Sequence, she did not dare drive like that on such a winding mountain road.
How did an ordinary person like him dare?!
"Holy shit! A gutter run!"
Liu Lu, sitting in the passenger seat, naturally saw it too. He already loved street racing, and after seeing how Jiang He took the bend, he was itching to try it himself.
But when he noticed the icy gaze directed at him from beside him, he shuddered, his body wilting like a frostbitten eggplant...

One curious person stuck their head out of the window, only to thrust it straight into the open maw of a Mutant Beast.
Thick liquid gushed out, splattering everyone's faces. The warmth registered clearly in every person's heart, making them realize this was no dream!
