Background

Jiang He survived for years as an ordinary person during his previous life. Although he lacked a Weird Object or Sequence Wonder, he accumulated extensive combat experience, including repeatedly disabling Undying Insects so others could deliver the finishing blow. He also learned monster behavior, migration hazards, and methods of locating insect nests 5 16 17.

During that life, the Rampage Group found him unconscious after the Sunshine Convoy’s disaster. Liu Lu obtained a red crystal from an urn and awakened a Superpower Sequence. After Wang Qian’s death, Liu Lu began taking pleasure in bullying weaker survivors, including Jiang He; Liu Qiang also repeatedly ordered him around 2 10 28.

Jiang He awakens aboard the Sunshine Convoy’s supply bus in the third week of the apocalypse, recognizing passengers who should no longer be alive. His memories initially lead him to misidentify the coughing man carrying the urn as the beast responsible for the convoy’s destruction 1 4.

Appearance

• A young man described as having the face of a boy-band idol; his looks attract attention from women and resentment from some male survivors 5.
• Appears scrawny enough that Liu Lu finds his ability to carry an enormous barrel of severed limbs suspicious 9.

Personality

Jiang He is calculating and strongly motivated by survival and personal advancement. Rather than flee immediately after returning to the past, he targets the urn because he remembers that its crystal can awaken supernatural powers. He also treats corpses, fuel, and supernatural drops as resources to be recovered rather than wasted 2 19 34.

His caution coexists with a willingness to take major risks. He waits for favorable conditions, prepares escape routes, and exploits opponents’ weaknesses, but still attempts to steal the Spore Fruit from a Level 5 Devil Arum. He considers fighting for opportunities preferable to remaining someone else’s victim 3 18 36 37.

He is vindictive toward his former tormentors and openly coercive as a leader. He threatens the Rampage Group into joining him, uses its members’ safety to pressure Wang Qian, and imposes a temporary rule against drivers dating to obstruct Liu Lu. These actions contrast with his rescue and continued care of Caicai 13 17 31 47 49.

Jiang He also possesses considerable emotional self-control. He endured oppression without mutating in his previous life and deliberately calms himself when anger threatens to overwhelm him. His confidence in that restraint informs his assessment of parasites that target emotionally unstable people 18 30.

Abilities & Skills

All Things Fusion System

The system enables Jiang He to repair, appraise, fuse, store, and upgrade supernatural objects and abilities 1 3 19 26.

• Repair: Restores the Bloodsucking Dagger; manually removing some damage first reduces the System Point cost 2 3.
• Appraisal: Reveals item properties, enemy skills, sequence rankings, and danger assessments. Some information remains locked behind Jiang He’s level 23 25 32.
• Fusion: Allows him to acquire additional Sequences and fuse Demon Seed materials. He must finish an ongoing fusion before starting another 39 41 46 48.
• Storage: Holds bundled supplies and large objects. The fuel tank assembly occupies three slots, while the sixth slot requires either 10,000 System Points or killing a Level 4 extraordinary creature 4 44.
• Automatic pickup: Collects supernatural drops, reducing the need to stop and retrieve them during combat 19 34.
• Limits: The system stops providing beginner combat advice after the Undying Insect Mother encounter. It also explicitly refuses to fuse the Energy Core into Jiang He 18 50.

Berserker — Fire Control

Fire Control shapes existing flames into forms of Jiang He’s choosing. Creatures killed by Berserker flames lose their ability to resurrect 6.

• Shapes flames into weapons, including a sword used against the Undying Insect Mother 18.
• Uses burning fuel for propulsion, though his first attempt nearly sets his clothing alight 7.
• Enhances his sight to observe distant targets and see through fog 6 16.
• Initially cannot create fire independently and requires an external flame source 7.
• Remains constrained by his energy reserves and need for oxygen 18 37.

Berserker — Flame Jet

Flame Jet converts superpower energy into high-temperature flames, compressing them in his palm before releasing a ranged pillar of fire 10.

• Kills the Flying Mouse and drives back the Picky-Eating Weird 13 24.
• Combines with Fire Control to shape and direct burning alcohol or gasoline 18 35.
• With gasoline assistance, achieves roughly the same effect for one-fifth of its previous superpower cost 48.
• Does not overcome every regeneration ability: his flames fail to kill Liu Lu after the Devil Arum’s intervention 40.

Death Coil

Death Coil summons thick vines capable of binding targets or erupting through solid surfaces 42 44.

• Binds Wang Qian’s arms and legs and lifts her into the air during an initial test 42.
• Produces more than a dozen vines that pierce pavement and concrete walls one to two meters thick 44.
• Consumes as much superpower as three or four uses of Flame Jet; the vines wither when he can no longer sustain them 42 44.

Priest — Superpower Healing

Superpower Healing increases superpower recovery speed by 200% and injury recovery speed by 150% 46.

• Costs no superpower when healing himself and a small amount when healing others 46.
• Can remain active while he uses other abilities 46.
• At his demonstrated strength, lasts thirty minutes with a sixty-minute cooldown 48.

Thief — Flying Flowers and Clinging Leaves

This movement skill increases running speed by 100%, reduces body weight by 80%, and increases physical agility by 30% 48.

• Has no cooldown or usage limit and consumes little superpower 48.
• Initially disrupts his balance, but he adapts within minutes 48.
• Lets him cover a route normally requiring six or seven minutes in fifty-one seconds 48.
• He estimates that maintaining it for half an hour costs about as much energy as one Flame Jet 48.

Survival Knowledge and Combat Experience

• Recognizes monsters and supernatural phenomena from his previous life, although changed events and unfamiliar creatures can invalidate his assumptions 4 16 29.
• Locates Undying Insect nests through vibrations in a severed insect’s head 17.
• Efficiently overturns Undying Insects and strikes through their abdominal membranes to destroy their hearts 16.

• Lightning-Struck Wood — A damaged Sequence Wonder ranked 2000. Its Five Yang Lightning Whips inflict lasting, healing-resistant wounds on weird entities; damage weakens its additional attacks and increases energy consumption 2.
• Shy Watch — A Sequence Wonder with enhanced Malice Perception. Detects the Picky-Eating Weird and later displays the outline and level of an unfamiliar Weird Object 21 50.
• Mimosa — A Sequence Wonder found beneath the Undying Insect Mother’s corpse; detects nearby danger 19.
• Urn, No. 7444 — A Level 1 Weird Object whose Flying Ash blocks creatures’ perception within two meters for five minutes. Normally usable once daily; its ashes present an inhalation hazard 25.

Relationships

• Liu Lu — Former tormentor and continuing enemy. Their struggle over the Spore Fruit becomes a fight for survival; afterward, Jiang He uses possession of the Devil Arum Heart to impose authority over him 10 37 38 47.
• Wang Qian — Technician Sequence user, driver, and unwilling subordinate. Jiang He values her mechanical expertise but repeatedly pressures her through the Rampage Group. She modifies his fuel assembly and later provides information about the Thunder Convoy 31 44 45 49.
• Caicai — A little girl he rescues while fleeing approaching Eldritch Horrors. He brings her aboard the bus, feeds her, and protects her during subsequent attacks 13 16 17 28.
• Er Biao — Appointed to collect and distribute convoy supplies. Jiang He entrusts him with storeroom access; Er Biao later helps defuse conflict between him and Liu Lu 43 47.
• Yin Su — A survivor who joins his convoy after surrendering an RV. She seeks his protection and attention but worries about her security under his rules 26 43 44.
• Han Yaojiao, Mu Yao, and Mu Qing — Join alongside Yin Su in exchange for protection and three days of food. Mu Yao and Mu Qing are twins 26.
• Corpse-Devouring Devil Arum — A Level 5 Demon Seed adversary. Jiang He exploits its weaknesses, steals its Spore Fruit, and tricks it into surrendering its heart 32 37 41.
• Unidentified shapeshifting woman — Saves him by pulling him into a drainage ditch during the buses’ attack. He later recognizes her disguised among the Rampage Group 6 10.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Return and the Sunshine Convoy Disaster

Jiang He’s attempt to preempt the convoy massacre exposes errors in his memories: the coughing passenger is the Level 2 Burned Weird, while the elderly woman is the Level 3 Blood Wolf. The Weird Driver subsequently turns the buses against the survivors. Jiang He escapes, awakens as a Berserker, and later kills the two weird entities trapped inside the dying elderly woman, earning 6,000 System Points 4 5 6 7.

Establishing a Mobile Base

After beginning his Level 2 upgrade, Jiang He repairs and binds a bus, obtains the Energy Core, and escapes with Caicai. He survives pursuit by the Earth Earthworm, clears an Undying Insect nest, and salvages the Insect Mother for the bus’s fuel and repairs 9 12 13 16 18 19.

He then plants insect remains on Wang Qian and Liu Lu’s vehicle to draw the Picky-Eating Weird toward them. Eventually intervening, he reveals his Level 2 strength and kills the creature with the Lightning-Struck Wood and Bloodsucking Dagger 21 24.

Service Area and Devil Arum

At an apparently safe service area, Jiang He upgrades his bus and coerces the Rampage Group into joining him. An addictive fragrance and Liu Qiang’s transformation reveal the hidden danger, culminating in the discovery of the Corpse-Devouring Devil Arum 26 29 30 31 32.

He escapes its vines with Wang Qian, then returns to exploit Demon Seed rewards. His attempt to steal the Spore Fruit brings him into conflict with Liu Lu, who has acquired the arum’s power. Jiang He survives through concealment and misdirection, secures the fruit and heart, and emerges with access to Death Coil 33 34 37 38 39 41 42.

Convoy Consolidation and Rongcheng

Jiang He establishes supply rules, places Er Biao in charge of distribution, and retains Wang Qian’s technical services. After awakening Priest and Thief, he leaves the service area with a much larger gasoline reserve and chooses the plains over mountain roads as heavy fog approaches 43 45 46 48.

Information from Wang Qian points him toward Rongcheng. He remembers an underground base there containing Eldritch Horrors that yield a white liquid capable of accelerating Sequence advancement. Before he can pursue the lead, his Shy Watch detects an unfamiliar Level 3 Weird Object, prompting an immediate departure order 49 50.
