Yin Su's Thoughts
If seats were contested purely on strength, practically none of the women would be able to stay!
They were never good at finding supplies in the first place.
And if the convoy consisted entirely of men, with no women to distract them,
that could easily affect its stability...
A convoy in the apocalypse was like a miniature dynasty. Nobody wanted to live under someone else's thumb forever.
A comfortable life could make some fools believe that a difference in strength could be overcome with numbers.
Once they had that idea, they would band together in rebellion and try to get their hands on the "local emperor's" throne.
Jiang He had seen far too many cases like that in his previous life, so he had to prevent it from happening!
The solution was naturally simple: recruit some women, and, combined with the seating system he had devised, that would effectively distract the men!
With some of their energy spent pursuing women, they would naturally have less time to think about other things.
Although this would cause minor frictions among the members, it was far better than having them band together against the captain!
Jiang He naturally wasn't afraid of these ordinary people rebelling, but after killing them, he would have to recruit new victims...
Uh, no, new members!
Besides, it would be really annoying if a bunch of people jumped out to rebel every so often!!
It was like a mosquito buzzing in your ear. You could kill it with one slap, but nobody wanted to keep swatting forever...
"I also need to appoint someone to manage the carriage..."
Jiang He had no one in mind for the manager's position.
It was an extremely important position in the convoy, responsible for distributing supplies, managing members, and maintaining order.
So the candidate had to be meticulous and strong enough to keep these people in line.
Most importantly, he had to be trustworthy!
Clearly, there was no suitable candidate in the current group.
Wang Qian would do, but she has to drive... I'll wait until we recruit another Superpower Sequence!
After thinking it over, Jiang He decided against appointing a manager and merely chose a Rampage Group member to temporarily handle the distribution and collection of supplies.
The man was named Er Biao. Though he looked a little silly and simpleminded, he was very attentive and a decent person.
Even in the later stages of the apocalypse, he never used his position to bully weaker survivors.
Jiang He had always had a good impression of him. He was the only honest man in the Rampage Group...
"Hehe! Don't worry, Brother Jiang! I'll make sure all that gets taken care of!"
The sudden appointment took Er Biao by surprise. He scratched the back of his head with one large hand, wore a simple, honest expression, and patted his chest as he made his promise.
Jiang He smiled back and waved his hand, moving the honest man up to the first row of padded seats.
At present, Yin Su and the other women alone occupied more than half of the six airline seats, which still bothered Jiang He a little.
"Brother Jiang He, your bus really is amazing! Several monsters tried to come in and eat us last night, but he swallowed every one of them whole!"
Seeing the man look her way, Yin Su immediately felt her chance had come. She sprang to her feet and wrapped herself around Jiang He's arm.
"Dangerous indeed!"
Jiang He stole a sideways glance at his arm and couldn't help exclaiming inwardly!
After Wang Qian's teasing just now, a fire had been smoldering inside him.
This nearly made him lose control!
"Were these people all brought aboard by you?"
Jiang He hurriedly changed the subject.
"We were all still unconscious at the time! Sister Wang Qian and Caicai saved them! Sister Wang Qian is really wonderful! She was afraid we'd get cold, so she even fixed these windows!"
No wonder!
So Caicai had helped...
Hearing this, Jiang He immediately understood.
The bus would devour any unfamiliar creature that entered it. Without someone familiar to bring them aboard, none of these people should have survived!
The "monsters" Yin Su had mentioned earlier had naturally died for the same reason!
After all, this carriage was the bus's absolute domain!
It was hardly surprising that it could deal with a few level-one extraordinary creatures that had barged inside.
Jiang He's arm struggled free from between them, and he looked at the women again.
"I don't object to you sitting here for now, but if other Superpower Sequences join the convoy, you must give up your seats. I'll reserve five seats for you at the back!"
As he spoke, he pointed to the five seats at the very back, his tone cold.
Doing this much for them already counted as giving them special privileges!
"Brother Jiang He, are you making fun of us again?"
Yin Su stared at him in disbelief.
This man had promised to shelter them before, so how could he have changed his mind after only one day?
It was bad enough that he wouldn't let them live in the RV, but now they were even going to lose their airline seats!
Was he even going to chase Caicai to the back?
"You have indeed contributed to the convoy, and naturally I'll give you some privileges, but nobody gets special treatment when it comes to seats!"
Jiang He stuck to his principles.
He tossed them two backpacks with a wave of his hand, then instructed Er Biao:
"No one is allowed to take their seats at the back, and these four can each receive three additional distributions of supplies every month!"
"As for Caicai... she isn't capable of going out yet, so the convoy will provide her food each day for now!"
Seeing this, the women said nothing more. Only Yin Su lowered her head, looking thoughtful.
"Got it, Brother Jiang!"
Hearing Jiang He call him, Er Biao quickly stood up.
As soon as he finished speaking, he seemed to remember something. His smile vanished, and he scratched the back of his head, saying with a troubled look:
"Brother Jiang, I don't have any supplies to give them!"
Jiang He had already planned for this. Without giving it much thought, he led Er Biao to the storerooms.
There were two storerooms in the carriage, one on either side of the RV door.
Jiang He planned to store food in one and other essential supplies in the other!
After having Er Biao register his fingerprints for both, he took one-sixth of the food and half of the survival supplies from his storage space and put them in the two rooms.
"From now on, they're all yours to manage!"
As Jiang He spoke, he patted the honest man on the shoulder.
He hadn't taken out too much food at once, since it would stay fresh in his storage space.
If he took it all outside in such hot weather, it would probably all go to waste before long...
Seeing how much the captain trusted him, Er Biao couldn't help shedding tears of excitement.
"Don't worry, Brother Jiang. I'll guard these supplies with my life!"
As he spoke, he wiped the snot from his nose with his sleeve.
Clearly, without having been tempered by the apocalypse, he was a little less seasoned than in Jiang He's previous life!
Jiang He patted Er Biao on the shoulder again and gestured for him to return to his seat, then glanced around at everyone in the carriage.
He had no experience managing a convoy, so the rules he had devised for the first time were bound to have flaws.
That was fine!
He could make changes later as the situation required!
He held out his hand and checked the time.
It was already ten in the morning.
There were still nineteen hours until the Devil Arum Heart finished fusing.
Some of his ability had recovered, so this was a good time to test the power of his new skill and take care of a few things!
With that thought, Jiang He stepped out of the bus!
The Energy Core's fluctuations the previous night had drawn all the nearby extraordinary creatures over.
They had formed a "vacuum zone" around the area.
So even without the level-five Demon Seed's aura, it was still very safe here!
As soon as he left, everyone in the carriage began talking over one another.
Naturally, the topic was the convoy's new rules.
Some thought the system was too cruel and gave the weak no human rights at all.
Others thought it was perfectly reasonable. There was no need to waste everyone's supplies supporting people with no strength and no contributions!
All in all, some were happy and others were worried.
And the most worried of all was naturally Yin Su!
In the three weeks since the apocalypse began, their group hadn't spent all its time at the service area, so they had naturally endured hard times too.
She had thought they had finally found someone to rely on, only for that person to have no intention of letting her rely on him...
