Falling into a Dream Again, Daystar Complete
Hannibal put his hand directly on the hilt of the Red Queen, and he too felt no burning sensation.
He turned straight to Blade and teased him, "I can touch it just fine! Looks like it doesn't like you! Maybe it prefers someone more handsome!"
As he spoke, he patted himself and Xiahou.
Little Fatty and Abigail couldn't contain their curiosity either. They walked over and touched the Scarlet Rose, but nothing happened to either of them. They both looked at Blade, their eyes seemingly saying, Little bro, you're not putting on an act for us, are you?
Blade looked completely bewildered under their gazes. What did they mean?
He reached out and touched the hilt again, and another wisp of smoke rose from it. When he pulled his hand back, the burn on his palm was a little worse.
Blade paid no attention to his injured hand. He was just frustrated that he was the only one who couldn't touch it.
Xiahou looked at Blade's hand and thought for a moment before saying uncertainly, "Could it be because Blade is a half-vampire? This weapon was made to deal with demons, and vampires are dark creatures too. Is that why it won't let Blade touch it?"
Everyone thought that made sense, and they looked at Blade with pity.
Blade's thoughts at that moment: What are you looking at? What's wrong with being a half-vampire? Are you jealous? Bunch of noobs! And it's just a lousy sword. I don't even care to touch it!
Abigail changed the subject. "Should we head back and eat? It's about time for dinner!" As she spoke, she pointed at the sun, which was getting ready to clock off.
"What are we waiting for, then? Let's go! Xiahou, let me tell you, when Blade went after Drake earlier..." Hannibal hurriedly replied, pulling Xiahou toward the base building ahead of the others. He didn't forget to tell his good brother, whom he had only recently met, about what Blade had gone through that day.
Blade and the other two followed behind, listening to Hannibal's account as they all headed for the building.
After dinner, Xiahou returned to his room and saw that his mana had recovered to only 100. He calculated the time. It had recovered 50 points in an hour, so it seemed it would take a full day to recover completely. He wondered whether it would recover faster once his attributes were higher.
For now, he could only use it sparingly. Otherwise, a few bullets would leave him completely out of mana.
"Now that there's nothing else to do, what should I do?" Xiahou rubbed his chin, thinking about how to pass the time.
"It's 2004 here. Touchscreen smartphones probably don't exist yet, right? Hannibal and the others use Nokias too. I can't even scroll through videos of pretty girls! Forget it, I'm going to sleep!"
After saying that to himself, Xiahou flopped onto the bed. But the moment he lay down, he sprang back up.
"Damn! I forgot I was carrying my swords! (/ω\)"
After putting both weapons into his backpack, he lay down on the bed again.
"Ahh~ Comfortable. Sure enough, lying down and being a salted fish is the most comfortable way to live! The famous philosopher Descartes once said that 'lying flat' was the best way to live. He was absolutely right!"
With that, he closed his eyes. A few seconds later, the sound of soft breathing could be heard; he had clearly entered sleep mode. (Salted fish: I despise people like you who fall asleep as soon as your heads hit the pillow! Don't you know I have serious insomnia? I can only sleep four or five hours a day, and I despise you!)
After falling asleep, Xiahou entered a dream again. Siegfried stood in a meadow, watching him calmly, as if he had been waiting there for a long time.
"You're here?"
"I'm here!"
"Then let's begin!"
"Wait! Begin what? And aren't you supposed to say, 'You shouldn't have come'?"
"Begin training! I said I would teach you all my skills!"
Xiahou thought, I thought you'd already given me your abilities! So there's more! Then he asked, "Am I dreaming right now?"
Siegfried answered just as calmly as before. "Yes!"
"Then there's no point teaching me! Who remembers what happens in a dream? And even if I did remember, I wouldn't be able to use it in real life, right?"
"You'll remember. As long as you learn it, your body will respond naturally!" Siegfried answered calmly, as always.
Xiahou was speechless. "Isn't that a bit too idealistic? All right, let's begin!"
Siegfried said no more. He used mana to conjure two greatswords and handed one to Xiahou.
After taking it, Xiahou assumed a fighting stance.
The two began to spar, and Siegfried started correcting Xiahou's various mistakes, such as his grip on the sword, how he applied force...
The first ray of dawn quietly drew back the curtain of night. Pale pink ink-wash colors spread across the horizon, and dewdrops trembled on the tips of leaves, welcoming the gently awakening world.
Xiahou rubbed his bleary eyes. After a while, his thoughts began to clear. At the same time, he recalled everything in the dream. He felt he could easily use the various techniques he had learned there.
The Red Queen appeared in his hand, and he began trying out what he had learned in the dream. After experimenting for a while, Xiahou confirmed that Siegfried had been right: he really had mastered them. Although he hadn't learned much, if they did this a few more times, he could definitely become a master swordsman like Siegfried. After all, Siegfried was a Heroic Spirit of the Saber class.
A knock sounded at the door, followed by Little Fatty's voice from outside.
"Xiahou, are you awake? Field has finished making 'Daystar.' Everyone's in the hall now! We're just waiting for you."
Xiahou hurriedly answered, "I'm awake. I'll be right there, wait a moment!"
He got up and went straight to open the door. Seeing Little Fatty waiting outside, he said, "All right! Let's go!"
Little Fatty looked at the sleep in the corner of his eye and asked, "Aren't you going to wash up first? You still have sleep in the corner of your eye!"
Xiahou said carelessly, "It's fine! Don't worry about the details. I can wash up later; it makes no difference. I'm not going out anyway!"
Little Fatty said nothing more, but mentally labeled him a slob. At the same time, he wondered, How could Abigail like someone like him? Could acting like this attract women's attention? Should I try it?
When they reached the hall, the members of the Nightcrawler Squad and Blade were already sitting in their respective places. Two objects resembling warheads lay on the table in the center.
Xiahou looked at the warheads on the table and said, "You're all up so early? So, is this Daystar? It looks pretty ordinary!"
Field immediately retorted angrily, "What do you know? The virus inside can spread through the air. One can kill every vampire in a building, and I've also incorporated Drake's genes. As long as it hits him, it can definitely kill him! I've already tested it on his blood, and it's definitely effective! But in the end, it can only take effect inside his body!"
Xiahou glanced at Blade, then continued questioning Field. "Would it work on Blade?"
Field hesitated for a moment before saying, "I don't know either. There wasn't enough time, and I haven't tested it on Blade's blood or genes."
Blade suddenly spoke up. "It's fine. Even if it works on me, it's no big deal! If we can kill Drake and the others, I'll be the last vampire! I should be eliminated too. That way, there won't be any vampires left in the world."
Everyone looked at Blade, admiring him for what he had said.
