Destroying the Blood Bank
After hearing Abigail's explanation and seeing how she and Hannibal were covered from head to toe in bandages, Xiahou sat down and said, "Since there's only one blood bank left, Blade and I will take care of it! You all get some rest! Right, Pose Bro?"
Blade looked at Xiahou, the last name apparently directed at him, and asked in confusion, "Are you asking me?"
Xiahou nodded firmly and continued teasingly, "Don't you think that name suits you perfectly? Whenever you fight or make an entrance, you're always striking one pose after another! Am I wrong? Besides, it makes us sound especially close, okay?"
Blade instantly bared his fangs like an angry dog, as if to say, "Believe it or not, I'll rush over and bite you to death right now!"
After hearing Xiahou's description, Hannibal wore an expression that said, "You're right," and asked, "Xiahou, if that's how you show closeness, what do you think I should be called? How about Bond? I think I really have his vibe!"
Xiahou shook his head. "No, no, no. What do you think of King of Dirty Talk? I was going to call you Deadpool, but that name obviously doesn't belong to you. At least you still have some limits!"
Hannibal also expressed his dissatisfaction. "I don't think that's a good name, okay? And I'm just trying to liven things up! Besides, you're no better than me, all right? That name should be yours!"
Xiahou wagged a finger. "I have names that suit me better! Smartass! Or handsome! I like both, so call me whichever you want!"
Hearing the two words Xiahou had pronounced in Chinese, everyone wore an expression that said, "What did you say? What does it mean? At least explain it." Little Black even made a real-life version of the confused Black guy meme beside them.
Seeing their puzzled expressions, Xiahou lost interest in joking. Sure enough, talking with a group of foreigners, especially foreigners who didn't understand any of this internet slang, was nowhere near as fun as chatting with his online friends or gaming buddies back home.
Then his expression turned serious, and he said to everyone, "All right, jokes aside. Get some rest. Leave the rest to Blade and me. When we get back, we'll all have a proper victory feast to celebrate wiping out these vampires!"
Blade stood up too, nodded to everyone, and said, "Xiahou's right. Thank you for what you did before. Leave the cleanup to Xiahou and me!"
After hearing that, everyone said they would wait there for good news from the two of them!
Abigail, meanwhile, watched the two leave with a trace of worry on her face.
Hannibal patted her on the shoulder and said, "All right, stop staring. They're already far away. Staring won't make a flower bloom, and Xiahou might not be right for you. He'll deliberately keep his distance from you too, so don't think too much about it!"
Abigail only nodded and said nothing more.
When they reached the cars parked outside, Xiahou said to Blade, "You drive!"
Blade immediately shot back, "Why don't you drive?"
"Because I don't know how to drive a car with the steering wheel on the right! And I don't know the way!" Xiahou explained as he picked his nose.
Blade: ...
He then opened the driver's door and got in. Xiahou hurriedly climbed into the passenger seat and fastened his seat belt.
Blade drove with frustration filling his heart. When had he ever driven someone else around? Usually, he was the one getting a ride, all right? Without realizing it, he began flooring the accelerator.
Sitting beside him, Xiahou began chanting, "There are countless roads to take, but safety comes first! Drive carelessly, and your loved ones will weep!"
Blade's face darkened further at the words, and he pushed the car even faster, leaving a trail of cursing drivers behind them.
When the two arrived at the blood bank's address, a large number of ordinary people were still gathered inside, moving all kinds of large crates.
It was a place resembling an industrial park, made up of large warehouses.
Standing at the entrance, Xiahou swept his gaze over the people inside. Seeing no health bars above their heads, he said to Blade, "These should all be ordinary people. Let's go in and look around."
The two headed inside together. The guards at the entrance saw how tough they looked and didn't dare stop them, letting them through.
At the entrance to each warehouse, Xiahou carefully inspected the interior. Finding no vampires or anything unusual, he took Blade to the next one. They searched seven or eight warehouses in a row without finding a single clue.
At last, they reached the final warehouse. A police car was parked outside, but there was no one in it. Its occupants had probably gone inside.
At the sight of the car, both men immediately grew alert and walked toward the tightly shut warehouse doors.
When they reached the doors, they found them firmly closed. Unlike the other warehouses, this one even required a fingerprint to unlock.
The two exchanged a glance. Something was definitely wrong with this place. They had probably come to the right spot.
Xiahou went up to the doors and pushed hard with both hands, but they didn't budge. Refusing to believe it, he pushed again, with the same result. His nearly eight tons of strength couldn't move them?
He drew the Red Queen and activated "EX" mode. This time, he easily mastered second gear. With an upward slash, he severed the doors' attachments, and rows of shelves inside became clearly visible through the gap.
Xiahou gave another hard shove, and the doors swung open. He turned back to Blade with a grin. "Well? Isn't this sword cool? I don't think you can beat me anymore!"
Blade kept his cool expression and didn't answer Xiahou. But inwardly, he grumbled, This guy is definitely cheating! He's gotten so much stronger in just a few days. I demand a blood test!
Inside the doors were rows upon rows of metal racks, hung with large sealed bags. Every bag contained a human, connected to the outside by only a few tubes. Blood flowed continuously through one of the tubes.
Both men were furious at the sight. Although Xiahou had seen it in the movie, experiencing it in person still gave him a sense of grief for his own kind.
Inside, the workers were sorting various documents and supplies. Only a small number of them were vampires; most were human.
Yet they were even more ruthless than the vampires when dealing with their own kind. It reminded him of the scam factories in Northern Myanmar that he had seen in videos before. The people there were probably no different from these ones.
Seeing how worked up Xiahou looked, Blade said to him, "How about I take care of them? From the looks of it, you've never actually killed anyone before, have you?"
Xiahou shook his head. Apart from the blood bags on the racks, everyone in front of him had a health bar above their head, so he had no reason to hesitate.
But when he shot the first person, the splattering blood and shredded flesh still made him feel sick. This really is different from killing vampires! Why did this damn game have to be so realistic? Are they sure this is allowed back home?
Don't they know the red dogs in DNF were restricted so much they turned into oil warriors?
While he stood stunned for a moment, Blade drew his handgun and began slaughtering the humans and vampires who had come to their senses. That was right, slaughtering them. These humans and vampires had no ability to fight back.
Watching Blade slaughter them wildly, Xiahou collected himself and silently repeated, This is a game, this is a game. They're all mobs! He too began firing the Blue Rose nonstop. Whenever he emptied the magazine, he only had to give it a shake, letting the cylinder pop out and retract, and he could continue shooting.
After the two had slaughtered them for roughly a quarter of an hour, every human and vampire in the warehouse had been cleared out, leaving only corpses strewn across the floor.
Standing at the entrance, Xiahou took a deep breath and raised the Blue Rose again.
This time, light began gathering around the gun. As its color deepened, a streak of purple light slipped between the rows of racks, piercing all the way through to the back wall before finally exploding and setting the wall ablaze.
Purple flames also began burning along the rows of racks it had passed through, quickly spreading across them.
The entire warehouse was engulfed in a sea of purple flames until it was reduced to ashes.
Only then did the two turn to leave. Looking at the silent Xiahou, Blade tried to comfort him. "They didn't count as human anymore. You did the right thing, and you helped them find release too!"
Xiahou only nodded, but he felt no joy at all.
He could only wonder, I'm playing a game, and I cleared a dungeon. Why don't I feel even a little happy or proud?
The two then drove back to the safe house. Blade didn't disturb Xiahou on the way, letting him sit quietly by himself. Perhaps that was the best way to help him.
