It Was You!
After passing through the lax security check, Xiahou entered the subway station. After searching for a while, he found a prime spot.
It was a well-hidden corner where no one passed by, and there were even some cardboard boxes piled there, as though they had been prepared specifically for a makeshift bed.
"Nice! Nice! Looks like I really have become a luck emperor in this game. Apart from that little hater I ran into at the start, everything's gone smoothly. But what does sleeping in a game feel like?"
"Do I just close my eyes and open them again, and it's the next day? Or is there no sleep function at all?"
Ever since discovering he couldn't go back, Xiahou felt that he had been spending more and more time talking to himself. Perhaps it was just another way to ease the unease in his heart.
After making his bed, Xiahou lay down on it and browsed the shop. At least that distracted him and kept his mind from wandering, but the faint pain in his hands still made him feel as though this really was a real world.
A long time passed like that before a sudden flurry of hurried footsteps came from the distance, accompanied by a baby's cries.
Xiahou blearily opened his eyes. "What the fuck is that noise? It's the middle of the night. Can't a guy get some sleep?"
He poked his head out to see what was happening and saw four thugs surrounding a woman, tossing a baby between them. The glaring health bars above all four of their heads showed that they were hostile units.
"Hey! A side quest delivered right to my door!" With that, he pulled out the Blue Rose and rushed over.
He aimed the gun at them with both hands and shouted, "Let go of that child! Uh, and that woman too! Come at me!"
The man with the handlebar mustache immediately grinned. "Another one! Looks like we'll have a good meal tonight!"
He bared his fangs as one of his companions knocked the woman to the ground. The other two pulled back the blanket wrapped around the baby, paying Xiahou no attention at all.
"Hey, now you've pissed me off! You think you're so great just because you've got sharp teeth? Can't you see the gun in my hand?" Xiahou waved his revolver as he spoke.
"But why does this scene look familiar? (・_・?)" Looking at their sharp teeth, he had a flash of inspiration.
"Vampires! No wonder it felt so familiar. Wait, Marvel plus vampires means... Blade! (☉д⊙)"
Meanwhile, the vampire holding the baby saw that it was only a dummy, with FUCK YOU! written on its chest. At the same time, it sprayed out a cloud of mist.
He immediately clutched his face and screamed, then shouted, "Garlic!"
The others all looked over, while the scene seemed even more familiar to Xiahou. Looking at the woman on the ground, a name suddenly popped into his head.
"Abigail! The woman who uses a bow like Hawkeye! So it was you!"
Abigail, who was still lying on the ground and putting on an act, was utterly bewildered. Who is he? And who is Hawkeye? What's going on?
While she was distracted, the four vampires rushed her. A gunshot rang out, and the blond vampire closest to her burst into flames and turned to ash.
That instantly brought her back to her senses, and she kicked the man with the handlebar mustache. After kicking him back, she popped a small silver-plated blade out of her shoe and struck him with it. He instantly turned to ash and scattered on the wind.
Seeing that things had gone wrong, the other two immediately turned and ran. Abigail caught the one at the back, and after pummeling him with her fists, she popped a hidden blade out of her sleeve and finished him off with one strike.
Just as she was about to pursue the last one, another gunshot rang out. The last vampire, who had already reached the elevator, turned to dust and scattered.
Abigail turned to look at Xiahou, who was lying on the ground. "Who are you? How do you know me?"
Xiahou groaned and writhed on the ground for a while before he finally recovered and looked up at Abigail, who was staring at him.
"My name's Xiahou, and I'm a player. I saw you in a movie before. By the way, where's that laser blade of yours that looks like a bow? Can you show me?"
As he spoke, he was also thinking, This is the Marvel Universe, so it makes perfect sense for Blade to be here. And I'm telling you I'm a player, but can you even understand? Stupid NPC! (●'◡'●)
"A player? A movie? What are you talking about? Don't mess with me!" As Abigail spoke, she pulled the bow-shaped laser blade from behind her and held it above Xiahou's neck.
"Talk. Why do you know me? And how do you know about this weapon? Don't try anything!"
"I really am a player! And I didn't lie to you. I really did see you in a movie, and I also know you're insanely good with a bow!" Xiahou looked at the blade of light at his neck, but he wasn't scared in the slightest. He'd respawn if he died anyway, so what the hell was there to fear?
Abigail, meanwhile, was even more confused. A player? What does that mean? Is it a club? And a movie? Why would there be a movie about me? When did my information get leaked, and how did it get made into a movie?
She grabbed Xiahou off the ground and pinned him against the wall. "What else do you know?"
At that moment, Xiahou received a side quest notification:
Side quest triggered: Abigail's Doubts. Objective: Answer Abigail's questions about herself. Quest reward: 1,000 energy points, 1 designated draw.
Xiahou immediately chose to accept and began answering. "I know your name is Abigail Whistler, and you're the illegitimate daughter of Whistler, Blade's mentor. You lead the human hunting team 'Nightcrawler' and specialize in bows and new weapons.
"And there's your teammate, King Hannibal. You formed the team to help Blade deal with vampires.
"But I've pretty much forgotten the others. It's a twenty-year-old movie, after all. I used to be crazy about Marvel movies, and after watching Deadpool 2, I found out from the old Blade in it that this series was Marvel too, so I caught up on the story.
"But the plot was so bad that I didn't remember much of it, apart from you using a bow like Hawkeye, that light bow of yours that's supposed to be half as hot as the sun, and the vampire progenitor you're going after.
"Oh, and King Hannibal too. He's played by the same actor as Deadpool, and he's just as much of a chatterbox! So I remember him too. But I think I remember that after you killed the vampires in the subway, your dad died!"
"What did you say?" Abigail instantly became agitated.
"How did my father die? Tell me!"
"Uh... I think he was killed by a bomb while destroying information to help Blade."
After Xiahou said that, he felt the intense killing intent and oppressive atmosphere radiating from Abigail, and immediately didn't dare say another word.
"When did it happen?"
"I don't know. The movie didn't say, but it might be tonight. His death came right after your scene, and it was nighttime then too."
"No, I have to save him!" Abigail grabbed Xiahou and started pulling him out of the subway station.
At that moment, Xiahou received a notification that the quest was complete.
