The brothers were close: because Zhoucheng did not want to inherit the family business, Bo'an abandoned his preferred medical career and returned to Lu Group after graduation 90.

At East University, Zhoucheng became famous after a photograph of his aloof profile during freshman military training appeared on the school's confession wall. By his junior year, he was a campus heartthrob whose admirers frequently found his personality harder to approach than his appearance suggested. Despite his wealth, he generally kept a low profile at school 86 91.

Zhoucheng initially presents himself as arrogant, aloof, and difficult to please. School forum users describe him as an “unattainable flower” while also mocking his sharp tongue and attempts to look cool. He dislikes unsolicited physical contact, and Wu Feng is careful not to touch his shoulder 86 87.

His composure breaks down easily around Xue Ci. Praise makes his ears redden, romantic messages leave him overthinking, and his first confession is far more nervous than his affected indifference suggests. Once dating, he becomes attentive and generous, bringing meals, accompanying Xue Ci to class, and remembering small preferences such as his need for wet wipes 89 90 96.

His affection is genuine but strongly possessive. He resents Xue Ci's closeness with Duan Zeran and Lu Bo'an, sometimes treating practical care as evidence that a reconciliation is inevitable. His jealousy also leads him to cross boundaries: after he pressures Xue Ci to resume their relationship, Xue Ci slaps him and avoids him 98 100 101.

Courtship and Breakup

Xue Ci's mission requires him to pursue Zhoucheng and then initiate a breakup. The intended plot describes a brief, distant relationship accepted out of pity, but Zhoucheng's actual behavior diverges: he becomes jealous, teaches Xue Ci to swim, buys him breakfast, and personally proposes dating with marriage in mind 86 87 89.

During their relationship, Zhoucheng protects Xue Ci from Chen Jun and introduces him to Lu Bo'an. Xue Ci nevertheless follows his mission and ends the relationship by message after the acid rain begins, returning the money Zhoucheng gave him. Zhoucheng responds defensively, then gets drunk and attempts to contact him again; the message fails to deliver 90 91 92.

Outbreak and Gymnasium Shelter

When mutated plants attack campus, Zhoucheng learns that both Xue Ci and Lu Bo'an are trapped there and immediately sets out to reach them. After awakening lightning, he rescues them and brings them to the gymnasium shelter, where he has already helped save several students 93 95.

He discovers Xue Ci's chest mutation, promises to keep it secret, and helps manage its painful symptoms. His efforts to regain Xue Ci's trust become entangled with rivalry against Lu Bo'an and Duan Zeran. Xue Ci explicitly states that they never officially resumed dating 96 97 100 101.

Zhoucheng later shocks the invisible attacker and identifies him as Lu Bo'an through the resulting arm injury. When zombies overwhelm the gymnasium, he clears an escape route and leads the remaining survivors while Duan Zeran carries Xue Ci away 102 103 104.

Search and Reunion

After the group separates, Zhoucheng and Lu Bo'an drive around searching for Xue Ci without finding him. Learning from Duan Zeran that Xue Ci vanished after being bitten provokes a fight. Upon eventually reuniting with Xue Ci, both brothers offer him accommodation away from Yu Cheng, with whom he is sharing a room 107.

Follower IF Route

In the alternate route, Zhoucheng is a new university student who returns home after two months to discover that Lu Bo'an has married the twenty-four-year-old teacher Song Xueci. He resents the sudden change and Xue Ci's demands that he cook, prepare food, and massage his legs—behavior secretly driven by Xue Ci's mission to sow discord 210.

Resentment develops into attraction. Zhoucheng acquires time stop, secretly abuses it, and becomes increasingly eager to return home and see Xue Ci. After Xue Ci leaves Lu Bo'an, Zhoucheng brings food and rare manga to his hotel, then helps arrange the divorce despite his brother's opposition 214 215 217 218.

His assistance does not secure a relationship. Once Zhoucheng becomes occupied with midterms, Xue Ci blocks him: his assigned character does not consider someone who has not yet gained power a suitable partner 219.
