Background
Fu Yang belongs to the wealthy Fu Family and works within its businesses. Although Fu Qingxiao is his uncle, they are only two years apart and initially enjoy an unusually close, informal relationship. Fu Yang has little regard for the idle wealthy heirs around him and chooses Fu Qingxiao as the person to introduce to Xue Ci 111 113.
His family places little emphasis on emotional closeness or holiday reunions. His parents send expensive birthday presents without delivering them personally, leaving him with little sense of being valued. Seeing Xue Ci prepare a homemade birthday cake for Fu Zhouxuan later makes him painfully conscious of what his own celebrations lacked 123 125.
Appearance
- Build: Nearly 1.9 meters tall, broad-shouldered, and heavily muscular, with defined abdominal and back muscles 110 117.
- Face: Handsome, sharply defined features, cold-looking eyes and brows, and a distinctive slit in one eyebrow 109.
- Hair: Dark; when worn loosely over his forehead, it softens his normally intimidating appearance 117.
- Clothing: Often wears suits and leather shoes, but adopts younger, more casual clothing while visiting Xue Ci at university 113.
- Physical upkeep: Maintains a regular workout habit even when busy and increasingly emphasizes his physique during his pursuit of Xue Ci 119 126.
Personality
Fu Yang is arrogant, sharp-tongued, impatient, and accustomed to getting his way. He recognizes that he is not a good person and initially regards Song Tanhai’s scheme as an offense he should not let pass. His early rules for Xue Ci demand obedience, limited messaging, and permission before physical contact—restrictions that contrast sharply with his own increasingly clingy behavior 109 111.
His attachment to Xue Ci exposes an unfamiliar fear of abandonment. This is his first relationship, and he struggles to understand why his affection is not reciprocated in the way he expects. After the accident, insecurity develops into surveillance, threats against rivals, controlling demands, and coercive intimacy. His distress explains the escalation but does not make Xue Ci welcome it 112 115 116 117.
Despite his intimidating manner, Fu Yang is easily moved by personal attention. A small gift, a birthday wish, or reassurance from Xue Ci can soften his mood. He also expresses affection through practical care: preparing breakfast, washing clothes, tending Xue Ci’s flowers, and keeping the protective amulet Xue Ci gave him 116 117 123 133 134.
Abilities & Skills
Business Management and Resources
Fu Yang holds an executive position and can mobilize substantial financial and organizational resources 112 116 129.
- Uses assistants, subordinates, bodyguards, and informants to arrange travel, investigate people, and monitor Xue Ci 109 112 115 116.
- Draws on the Fu Family’s connections to consult numerous prominent doctors abroad 116.
- Channels his frustration into an intense workload while waiting for an opportunity to pursue Xue Ci again 129.
- Organizes a rescue team when Xue Ci and the others become stranded during a snowstorm 119.
Mathematics Tutoring
Fu Yang helps Xue Ci with advanced mathematics through messages and phone calls 111.
Physical Strength
His size and strength allow him to carry or restrain Xue Ci with little difficulty 113 116.
- Xue Ci repeatedly finds himself unable to break free when Fu Yang holds him 116 118.
- His strength is physical rather than part of a documented cultivation or leveling system.
Fragment-Energy Constitution
Eleven identifies Fu Yang as an aggregate of fragment energy. Resentment accumulating after his accident affects his response to a system-shop medicine 133.
- The medicine initially suppresses the symptoms of an aphrodisiac 133.
- Once his immunity takes effect, the medicine reverses its action and makes the aphrodisiac three times stronger 133.
- This reaction is specific to the documented medicine; it does not establish general immunity to drugs.
History
Song Tanhai’s Scheme
Fu Yang investigates Song Tanhai because of his debts and knows about his adopted son, Song Xueci. His first encounter with Xue Ci occurs downstairs from Xue Ci’s home, where he is immediately attracted to him and secretly takes a photograph 108 134.
At a Fu family banquet, Song Tanhai arranges for Xue Ci to undress Fu Yang and stage compromising photographs. Fu Yang remains aware of the scheme while pretending to be unconscious. Rather than exposing it immediately, he watches Xue Ci’s awkward attempts and becomes increasingly attracted to him 108 109.
He subsequently gives Xue Ci his phone number and a bank card. Their understanding of the arrangement differs from the outset: Fu Yang believes they are dating, while Xue Ci considers him a sugar daddy connected to his mission 109 117.
Courtship and Jealousy
After discovering Jiang Shu’s calls, Fu Yang orders Xue Ci to break up with him within three days. He later interrupts their time together near campus and initiates his first kiss with Xue Ci 109 110 111.
His involvement quickly exceeds the detached arrangement he originally described. He sends jewelry and roses, tutors Xue Ci, and begins visiting him every day. When Song Tanhai loses money gambling again, Fu Yang turns back from the airport to help retrieve him from the casino 111 112.
Fu Yang gives Xue Ci a cotton-candy necklace and brings him to his villa to meet Fu Qingxiao. Introducing him to a family elder marks a departure from the original plot, in which Fu Yang would not have offered his kept partner that recognition 113.
Accident and Deteriorating Relationship
Fu Yang and Fu Qingxiao travel to bring Fu Zhouxuan into the family. Their car is rear-ended in a tunnel on the return journey. Xue Ci has given Fu Yang a protective amulet, and most of his body escapes serious injury, but an examination reveals trauma that may affect his sexual function 114.
His continuing dysfunction becomes a source of intense anxiety. Doctors consulted abroad cannot resolve it, and he increasingly fears that Xue Ci will leave him for another man. He monitors Xue Ci’s movements, reacts aggressively to missed calls, and restricts his freedom 115 116.
The relationship collapses when Xue Ci discovers his medical record and tries to return the bank card and IOU. Fu Yang is devastated to learn that Xue Ci never understood their arrangement as a genuine romance. His pleas and attempts to prevent the breakup fail, and Fu Qingxiao takes Xue Ci away 117 118.
Rivalry with Fu Qingxiao
Fu Yang later claims that his body has recovered and resumes pursuing Xue Ci. During the trip to Fu Zhouxuan’s hometown, he brings rescuers to the snowbound group, but Fu Qingxiao’s injury interrupts his attempt to confess his feelings 118 119.
When Fu Qingxiao awakens and identifies Xue Ci as his fiancée, Fu Yang immediately suspects deception. He objects to the arrangement but cannot persuade Xue Ci to abandon it. He eventually apologizes for his provocative remarks and tries to remain in contact through gifts and visits 120 121 122.
Xue Ci tells him that he will explain the situation to Fu Qingxiao after the college entrance examination. Fu Yang treats that date as a new opportunity, pouring his energy into work while waiting 127 129.
Xue Ci’s Return to the Song Family
After Xue Ci’s biological family is found, Fu Yang plays a recording of Fu Qingxiao admitting how easily he deceived Xue Ci. The recording helps expose the false premise behind the engagement 130.
Fu Yang continues pursuing Xue Ci after he moves to the Song Family. During a genuine fever, he breaks down over Xue Ci sharing cotton candy with Fu Zhouxuan. Xue Ci subsequently promises not to buy it for anyone else, giving Fu Yang renewed hope 131.
His pursuit remains intrusive: he drives away admirers, follows Xue Ci to his new apartment, and reads his private diary. Later, he becomes more cautious and relies increasingly on gifts and attention 131 132.
Birthday Banquet and Final Appearance
At his birthday banquet, Fu Yang drinks drugged wine and retreats to a lounge. Although he considers calling a doctor, he instead instructs his assistant to tell Xue Ci where he is and that he has been drugged 132.
Xue Ci calls a doctor and administers system-shop medicine, but the medicine’s eventual reversal intensifies the aphrodisiac. Fu Yang and Xue Ci spend the night together, after which Fu Yang cares for him and presses for a recognized relationship 133 134.
Fu Yang secretly replaces Xue Ci’s necklace pendant with a proposal ring, then treats Xue Ci’s wearing it as preliminary acceptance. Xue Ci points out that they are not even dating and continues avoiding a definite commitment. Fu Yang’s final appearance is at a night market, where he approaches Xue Ci carrying cotton candy 134.
Role in the Original Plot
- Fu Yang is the older brother and financial patron whose kept partner becomes a source of warmth for the protagonist, Fu Zhouxuan 113.
- His jealousy in that plot escalates into sexual violence and confinement; these are events Xue Ci reviews as part of the original storyline, not a complete account of the altered timeline 113.
- The original accident causes only minor injuries. Fragment interference changes its consequences in the experienced timeline 114.
Equipment & Personal Items
- Protective amulet — Given by Xue Ci before the accident. Fu Yang treasures it and later says he removes it only to shower 114 123.
- Photographs of Xue Ci — Keeps a collection, including secretly taken pictures; notices when a particular photograph goes missing 111 112 134.
- Bank card — Gives it to Xue Ci as financial support. Its return becomes part of Xue Ci’s attempt to end their arrangement 109 117 118.
- Sports cars — Uses different sports cars when collecting Xue Ci from university 111.
- Proposal ring — Conceals it on Xue Ci’s necklace without first obtaining his agreement to an engagement 134.
Relationships
- Xue Ci / Song Xueci — First romantic attachment and persistent object of pursuit. Their central conflict is Fu Yang’s assumption of a committed romance versus Xue Ci’s understanding of a patronage arrangement 109 117 134.
- Fu Qingxiao — Uncle, close confidant, and later romantic rival. Their easy companionship deteriorates as both pursue Xue Ci 111 120 122.
- Fu Zhouxuan — Younger half-brother and romantic rival. Fu Yang initially resents collecting him from his hometown and later envies the affection Xue Ci gives him 114 123 129.
- Jiang Shu — Xue Ci’s former boyfriend. Fu Yang demands their separation and warns Jiang Shu away 110 112.
- Song Tanhai — Debtor and architect of the hotel scheme. Fu Yang later keeps him under supervision and refrains from immediately pursuing his misappropriation of public funds because of Xue Ci’s attachment to him 108 123.
- Song Ran — Xue Ci’s biological older brother and a determined obstacle to Fu Yang’s pursuit. Fu Yang eventually tries to learn his interests to win him over 130 131 134.
