Duobao Reads a Novel: Buddha Is the Dao
"Senior, might you allow me to look at the three books on the stone table?"
As he said this,
an awkward look crossed Duobao's face.
As the Interception Sect's foremost senior disciple,
and with his talent for finding treasures,
as well as being a personal disciple of Sect Master Tongtian of Shangqing, the Jie Sect Leader,
Duobao had already surpassed the younger generation of the Primordial World by far.
What could he possibly want that he didn't have?
For him to say this now
was quite difficult for Duobao.
But for the wondrous art of Buddha light,
Duobao could no longer care about saving face.
When Duobao's voice fell,
a strange look flashed through Lin Tian's eyes as he stood opposite him.
These three books are the opportunity?
What kind of opportunity is this?
They're just three web novels!
As these thoughts ran through his mind,
Lin Tian's gaze sharpened. From Duobao's actions, he sensed that something was amiss.
Hm?
Wait!
Weren't these three books the rewards I just received?
How did this kid know?
Could it be
that when the system handed out the rewards just now,
this kid noticed?
The three books themselves didn't matter.
The main concern was the system.
Lin Tian didn't want anyone else to know of its existence.
At that thought,
Lin Tian immediately frowned and said,
"I only just took these three books out, yet you found out rather quickly, didn't you?"
"I live here in seclusion. Don't you think it's a bit much to spy on me like this?"
Hearing this, Duobao was taken aback. He noticed the grave look on Lin Tian's face
and immediately realized something was wrong!
Most recluses like this were solitary by nature and difficult to get along with.
His actions just now had been too obviously directed at a goal. They hadn't even met, yet he had made a request right away. It was indeed easy for that to make the other party wary.
As these thoughts flashed through his mind, Duobao hurriedly cupped his hands and explained,
"You misunderstand, fellow Daoist."
"I was merely passing by when I happened to sense a mysterious, wondrous art coming from your residence."
"That presence was very subtle. At first, I thought I had imagined it."
"That was why I came here to investigate and see whether it was fated for me."
"Unfortunately, that Buddhist intent was too indistinct. Only when I drew close could I barely make out that the presence was coming from these three books..."
"I meant nothing else by it. If I have caused offense, I hope you will forgive me, fellow Daoist."
The faint presence came from these three books?
What kind of presence could these three books have?
Hearing Duobao's words,
Lin Tian found it a little strange.
Although these three books were gifts from the system,
in Lin Tian's view,
they were no different from the plastic teacups from a "two-yuan store" and that battered zither the system had given him before.
They were nothing good at all.
What presence could they have?
Could this kid have sensed it wrong?
Or does a presence really leak out when the system hands out rewards?
Just as Lin Tian was thinking this,
a system notification suddenly sounded in his ear.
[Please rest assured, host. This Diary System serves the host alone] [No one will be able to detect it; it can even evade the Heavenly Dao] [The reason the other party could sense this presence on the novels is that the prizes released a trace of subtle presence when the system handed out the rewards] [This presence can only travel a short distance] [There is no need for concern, host]
Hearing the system's words,
Lin Tian was taken aback. Recalling what Duobao had just said,
he immediately felt relieved.
Ignoring the system's voice, he looked at Duobao's rather courteous manner
and nodded impassively.
He gestured for Duobao to enter and said,
"Come inside first, then."
"Since you managed to find this place, I suppose it's fate."
"Whatever it is, let's sit down and talk."
After receiving his consent,
Duobao quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
He thanked Lin Tian
and followed him into the bamboo house.
Originally, Duobao had planned to head straight for the three books once he went in.
But the instant he stepped into the bamboo house's courtyard,
he immediately felt a powerful wave of spiritual Qi wash over him.
The sheer purity and density of the spiritual Qi
made Duobao, who had already entered the ranks of the Quasi-Saints, freeze!
So powerful!
Such dense spiritual Qi!
I've been to many places.
Hardly any of them can compare to the spiritual Qi here.
In terms of density, the spiritual Qi here is even more abundant than at my master's cultivation ground, Biyou Palace.
When Duobao sensed the pure spiritual Qi in the courtyard,
astonishment rose in his heart.
No wonder he was so shocked.
After all,
ever since he had discovered that Buddhist intent,
he had walked all the way in, step by step.
Duobao naturally knew the scenery along the way
extremely well.
Never mind how thin the spiritual Qi had been along the way-
even the whole little mountain peak
had scarcely any spiritual Qi to speak of.
It was just like an utterly ordinary mountain peak in the mortal world.
It was even inferior to a mortal mountain peak.
In an environment so barren of spiritual Qi,
how could a place exist where spiritual Qi was so dense that it could even rival a Sage's cultivation ground?
How was that possible?
After these thoughts flashed through his mind,
Duobao looked at Lin Tian's figure,
and his gaze immediately changed.
Is this young cultivator really just a Heavenly Immortal?
To have such a cultivation ground in such a barren place is no simple feat...
And this courtyard isn't as simple as I thought, either.
The spiritual Qi alone is extraordinary, and the tables, chairs, flowers, grass, and trees here all seem to contain an indescribably mysterious presence.
Even I can be affected by those presences!
Looking around,
a look of astonishment flashed through Duobao's eyes.
He grew increasingly doubtful of Lin Tian's strength.
Just as Duobao was thinking this,
Lin Tian's voice suddenly came from ahead.
"Come, please sit."
Duobao saw Lin Tian gesture for him to sit.
He immediately set his thoughts aside, cupped his hands lightly to Lin Tian, and said,
"Thank you, fellow Daoist."
"Then I shall respectfully accept."
With that, he sat down on a cushion at one side of the pavilion.
Seeing this, Lin Tian sat down cross-legged opposite Duobao.
Then he placed the three books one by one on the stone table in the pavilion.
"Fellow Daoist, these three books are ordinary things."
"In my opinion, their greatest use is merely as a pastime, something to while away the time."
"Even if there's something a little different inside them, or some different presence, don't place too much importance on it."
"At a time like this, cultivation should still come before everything else."
Hearing Lin Tian's advice,
Duobao's expression grew solemn.
He cupped his hands to Lin Tian with a serious look and said,
"Thank you for telling me, fellow Daoist."
"I understand."
As soon as Duobao finished speaking, he looked eagerly at the books without waiting for Lin Tian to say anything.
The purpose of his visit
was these three books.
Now, he could finally see them face-to-face.
He hoped
the prayer bead's sensing had not been mistaken!
After these thoughts flashed through his mind,
Duobao thanked Lin Tian.
Then he carefully picked up the first book.
When his eyes fell on it,
his body abruptly stiffened, and his gaze trembled!
A look of astonishment appeared on his face.
"Buddha Is the Dao?"
"What a philosophical explanation!"
"Those four simple characters seem to encompass everything!"
Just as Duobao was murmuring this,
he suddenly thought of the choice he had faced before.
His breathing stopped for an instant.
A trace of shock rose in his heart!
An indescribable sense of enlightenment spread through him!
"Hm?!!!"
"Wasn't I always torn between cultivating Buddhism and cultivating the Dao?"
"These four simple characters seem to have already provided an explanation!"
