Background and History
Transmigration and the Diary System
Lin Tian arrived in the Primordial World already possessing Earth Immortal cultivation. His initial confidence faded over eight hundred years of stagnation, especially because his knowledge of the coming Investiture of the Gods Calamity made him acutely aware of his weakness. Although he lived near Jin'ao Island, he had never joined the Interception Sect 1.
The Great Dao Diary System eventually activated and supplied him with a diary and writing brush. His first entry criticized the Interception Sect’s future destruction and exposed Long-Eared Dingguang Immortal’s betrayal. Unnoticed by Lin Tian, the diary sent Great Dao Qi toward Biyou Palace; Tongtian subsequently read the entry, investigated the traitor, and killed him 1 3 4.
Lin Tian’s first rewards included the Primordial Grand Dao True Scripture and an upgraded home. After reaching Middle Heavenly Immortal in a day, he deliberately stopped cultivating: he feared that attracting Tongtian’s attention would lead to recruitment into the sect and entanglement in the calamity 5 7.
Visitors and the Hidden-Expert Misunderstanding
Zhao Gongming became the first native of the Primordial World with whom Lin Tian had properly conversed since transmigrating. Visiting under the name Ming Gong, he interpreted Lin Tian’s extraordinary possessions and casual behavior as evidence of concealed power. Lin Tian instead assumed that his unusually respectful guest was a struggling cultivator from a poor background 9 10 11.
Zhao Gongming later brought Yunxiao, Bixiao, and Qiongxiao to seek guidance. Lin Tian mistakenly judged them to be Human Immortals and could not explain how to overcome their supposed bottleneck, since he had arrived as an Earth Immortal himself. His advice to walk their own Dao nevertheless impressed them, and Yunxiao gave him the Golden Flood Dragon Scissors 20 25 26.
Yazi Becomes Erha
Lin Tian originally brought home a goldfish that repeatedly jumped into his basket rather than remain in the river. He named it Little Gold, unaware that it was Yazi, the Ancestral Dragon’s second son, whose damaged primordial spirit had reverted to a fish 17 18 30.
After swallowing a Sea-Calming Divine Pearl, Yazi began recovering. Lin Tian blamed the resulting disturbance on a troublesome fish and attempted to cook him. The spiritually rich water instead helped Yazi regain his true form. When the courtyard formation stopped Yazi from escaping, Lin Tian mistook him for a husky, assumed he had eaten the fish, and tied him to the fence as a guard dog 17 18 22 24.
Under the name Erha, Yazi subsequently brought Lin Tian fish, obeyed his instructions to guard the entrance, and received food and a prayer bead as a toy 38 40 42.
The Three Reward Novels
Lin Tian’s third diary entry earned him Buddha Is the Dao, Covering the Heavens with One Hand, and Perfect World. He recognized all three from his previous life and initially considered them useless for helping his visitors cultivate 31 37.
Duobao, visiting as the wandering immortal Dabao, detected Buddhist intent from the books and exchanged a prayer bead for Buddha Is the Dao. He later presented Lin Tian with an axe after drinking fish soup that strengthened his primordial spirit. Lin Tian treated both gifts as ordinary household objects 35 36 37 40 41 42.
The Three Xiaos discovered Covering the Heavens with One Hand and interpreted it as an opportunity deliberately left for them. Their reading produced a moment of enlightenment, prompting them to leave and cultivate. Lin Tian then sent Perfect World to Zhao Gongming through Yunxiao as a return gift for six more Sea-Calming Divine Pearls 45 46 50.
Meanwhile, Lin Tian’s diary continued exposing the calamity’s underlying schemes to Tongtian. His household also drew the Western Sages’ attention when they could no longer sense the prayer bead Duobao had left there 32 33 43.
Personality
Lin Tian is cautious about survival and reluctant to enter sect conflicts. Even after discovering his scripture’s remarkable cultivation speed, he restrains his advancement rather than risk becoming cannon fodder in the Investiture of the Gods Calamity. He is similarly protective of the system’s secrecy, briefly becoming suspicious when Duobao detects his newly awarded books 7 36.
He is hospitable and sympathetic toward people he believes are disadvantaged. He offers shelter, tea, meals, and repeat invitations, often accepting gifts only because he thinks refusing them would hurt a poor visitor’s pride. This generosity coexists with a persistent inability to recognize his guests’ identities or the value of their treasures 9 10 11 26 41.
He favors practical comforts over displays of supernatural grandeur. Treasures become gardening tools, decorations, or pet toys if they appear suitable for those tasks. Despite his fear of the calamity, he also enjoys resting and complains that cultivation requires sitting upright rather than lying down 5 17 42 45.
Abilities and Skills
Great Dao Diary System
The system rewards Lin Tian for writing one diary entry reflecting on his experiences each day 1.
- Possible rewards include treasures, cultivation realms, laws, resources, and comprehension of Dao principles 1.
- The diary can disregard Heavenly Dao rules; the writing brush bears merit power and has had Heavenly Dao traces removed 1.
- According to the system, its existence cannot be detected, even by the Heavenly Dao. Newly issued rewards may briefly release a presence detectable at close range 36.
- Lin Tian does not initially realize that Tongtian can read his entries 1 3 7.
Primordial Grand Dao True Scripture
Described by the system as the Primordial World’s foremost cultivation technique, the scripture transcends the Heavenly Dao and grants exceptional cultivation speed 5.
- Lin Tian mastered it immediately upon claiming it 5.
- It draws spiritual Qi into him even through ordinary breathing 5.
- Active cultivation gathers Qi from an immense surrounding area while producing only subtle external fluctuations 7.
- Its demonstrated results include crossing from Earth Immortal to Middle Heavenly Immortal in one day 7.
Spiritual Perception
His Heavenly Immortal advancement substantially sharpened his awareness 7.
- Can clearly sense fluctuations in presence within a two-kilometer radius 7.
- His thought power destroyed Zhao Gongming’s probing divine sense during the latter’s investigation of the wooden qin 9.
Tea Ceremony and Cultural Arts
The system granted level 99999 mastery of tea ceremony, chess, zither, and calligraphy 7.
- Tea preparation became instinctive, with his movements carrying Dao resonance 10.
- Tea served to Zhao Gongming strengthened the guest’s primordial spirit and cultivation 10.
- Lin Tian initially doubted that these arts could help him survive the calamity 7.
Knowledge of Future Events
As a transmigrator, Lin Tian knows the Interception Sect’s expected fate and major betrayals associated with the Investiture of the Gods 1 3.
- Identifies Long-Eared Dingguang Immortal’s allegiance to the Western Sages and future betrayal of the Myriad Immortals Formation 3.
- Analyzes how an alliance of four Sages could overcome Tongtian’s Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation 32 33.
- Uses this knowledge primarily to assess danger and avoid involvement, rather than openly advise the sect 1 7.
Residence and Possessions
Grand Dao Bamboo House
- Concealment: The system’s house improvement suppresses emanations from cultivation, treasures, household objects, and cultural arts, and shields against divine-sense searches from a thousand li away 5.
- Spiritual environment: Zhao Gongming and the Three Xiaos consider the courtyard’s spiritual Qi purer and more potent than Biyou Palace’s 27.
- Defensive formation: Detects Yazi’s escape attempt, knocks him back, and drains his strength 24.
System Rewards

- Mineral water — Used in cooking; the water placed around Yazi contains exceptionally pure spiritual Qi and helps his recovery 5 21 22.

- Axe — An Innate Spiritual Treasure given by Duobao in thanks for the fish soup. Said to bear traces of the Heaven-Opening Divine Axe’s presence; Lin Tian places it beside his firewood for chopping 41 42.
Relationships
