Killing Wild Dogs
After killing all the stray dogs, Lin Yunji spoke again, "Let's not deal with these dogs yet. Let's go back to the other side of the river, check the situation, and then make a plan."
All the venerable ones agreed, and then they returned to the other side of the river with Lin Yunji, patiently waiting.
However, after waiting for an unknown amount of time, it never reappeared.
Logically, given the presence of these blood-smelling wild dog carcasses and the considerable commotion of the fight, why didn't the wild dogs on the other side of the mountain come over?
Lin Yunji thought for a moment and then said, "Let's go check out the situation."
Zhu Chongxin followed Lin Yunji across the river to the other side, and then walked towards the other side of the mountain. After walking about four kilometers, they finally arrived at the other side of the mountain.
The situation on Baishan was completely different from what they had imagined. At first, Lin Yunji and the others thought that the other side of the mountain was also undulating like the front side.
But upon arriving here, we discovered that it was a landslide-dammed lake.
This patch of land, nestled in the middle of the hills, resembled a very deep canyon filled with accumulated rainwater. The water was pitch black, and the surrounding area was covered with dried leaves, leaf litter, and mud. In addition, there were many white bones, which appeared to be the bones of wild dogs. From a distance, it looked like a snow-white expanse spread across the ground, interspersed with some mud.
As Lin Yunji and the other Venerables walked forward, their feet made a crisp cracking sound. Looking around, the area around the lake was covered with white bones; it was impossible to tell how many wild dogs had died there.
Seeing this scene, Lin Yunji and the others couldn't help but gasp, a chill running down their spines as they felt the coldness rush from the soles of their feet to their heads.
It's obvious that there must be some extremely dangerous creature lurking beneath this lake, otherwise, why would it have killed all these wild dogs?
"Leave now, we can't stay here any longer," Lin Yunji in a low, deep voice.
"That's right." Emperor Venerable Xuanwu shivered and quickly echoed.
The other deities nodded hurriedly and headed back the way they had come. But at that very moment, the dark and deep lake surface suddenly stirred.
Ripples appeared on the once still lake surface, as if something had been thrown in. The ripples gradually expanded and eventually turned into a very deep whirlpool.
The vortex was spinning very fast, and then a jet of water suddenly shot up from below, splashing water everywhere. In the middle of the jet, a dark shadow could be vaguely seen.
The shadow emerged from the bottom of the lake, and then, intertwined with the water column, it appeared on the surface. It was more than ten meters long and exuded a chilling aura that spread outwards, incredibly violent.
At this moment, without needing Lin Yunji's reminder, the Venerables immediately followed Lin Yunji and ran frantically ahead.
Run! They didn't stop or look back!
Only after they crossed the ridge and rushed along the river to the other side did Lin Yunji and the other Venerables finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Even so, everyone still felt terrified.
"My God, how could there be such a terrifying monster in this place!" Emperor Venerable Wuxuan exclaimed in disbelief.
Although he was too frightened to turn around, he still caught a glimpse of the figure out of the corner of his eye—a gigantic python that was beyond imagination!
"So many bones, I wonder how many wild dogs died? Two or three hundred thousand? Several million?!" Immortal Venerable Hongluo frowned as he spoke.
"I don't know." Lin Yunji gave a bitter smile and shook his head.
"This monster is probably already at the Universe Level, Fifth Level, right?" Divine Venerable Xuanjian guessed.
"I'm not quite sure." Lin Yunji shook his head again; he genuinely wasn't sure.
"However, this monster's strength is definitely much higher than mine." Lin Yunji said with great certainty.
As soon as he finished speaking, all the venerable ones glanced at each other and saw the bitterness in each other's eyes.
"Then what should we do?" Immortal Venerable Hongluo asked Lin Yunji, "Should we stay here or leave?"
The fact that such a terrifying creature lurks next to this village has left them living in utter misery. No one knows when that monster will appear in this Big Stone Town and kill everyone.
After all, the place where the monster was located was not far from this village, only about five miles away.
Moreover, given the monster's speed, that short distance was practically nothing.
"Let's stay here." Lin Yunji suddenly said this.
"Stay here?" Immortal Venerable Hongluo asked, somewhat surprised.
"That monster probably won't come from inside," Lin Yunji after a moment's hesitation.
Immortal Venerable Hongluo immediately asked, "Why do you say that?"
Not only the Immortal Venerable Hongluo, but all the other Venerables also looked at Lin Yunji with suspicion.
"Did you guys see the surrounding environment of that lake just now? It's all silt. If the monster in the lake wanted to come out, it would have to pass through this silt. But did you notice that there are absolutely no traces of footsteps on that silt? And the bones around there aren't broken at all. So I suspect that the monster can't get out and can only live in the water."
"How did so many wild dogs die? And if that's the case, what did that monster eat?" Supreme Hongdu couldn't help but ask.
"If I'm right, those dead stray dogs must have gotten there on their own." In other words, they brought it upon themselves.
"Impossible!" None of the Venerables could understand such a thought.
"This is how those in positions of power intimidate those in positions of power!" Lin Yunji continued to explain.
It's like a weasel that likes to steal chickens. No matter how arrogant the chickens are, whenever they encounter a weasel, even if the weasel is smaller or the chicken is strong, they will be so afraid that they have no strength to resist and can only shrink back and let the weasel slaughter them.
Besides wolves and sheep, there are actually a lot of sheep. When facing a wolf, there is a chance that all of them can rush up and trample the wolf to death with sheer numbers. But instead, the wolves are scared and run away in all directions.
