  • Jiang He accepted Sherry’s challenge, and they faced each other in Duel Academy’s arena.

Ch. 522Yu-Gi-Oh!: Starting with a Netherworld Deck, Depressing the World

Jiang He and Sherry LeBlanc began their wager duel, and Sherry opened with a Fusion Summon before revealing a Field Spell that restricted summons and direct attacks. Jiang He recognized the card’s dangerous effect as the spectators reacted, and Sherry’s explanation of how it disrupted Synchro Summoning was still underway.

  • Jiang He and Sherry LeBlanc accepted Mizoguchi’s signal and began their duel with 4,000 Life Points each.
  • Sherry took the first turn, Normal Summoned Floral Steed in Defense Position, and drew a card with its effect.
  • Sherry used Polymerization to fuse Floral Steed with Lancer of the Holy Knights from her hand and summoned Centaur Mina.
  • Alexis Rhodes and the other spectators suspected Centaur Mina had a powerful effect, while Jiang He watched calmly.
  • Sherry activated the Field Spell École de Zone, which prevented direct attacks and negated later monster summons, replacing destroyed monsters with Mask Tokens.
  • Jack Atlas reacted with alarm as Sherry explained that École de Zone could obstruct Synchro Summoning.

Ch. 523Yu-Gi-Oh!: Starting with an Underworld Deck, Depressing the World

Sherry LeBlanc used [École de Zone] and [Centaur Mina] to restrict Jiang He’s summons and threaten his Life Points. Jiang He set a monster and four cards, then used the monster’s destruction to add [Yata-Garasu] to his hand, leaving Sherry confident that her field lock still held.

  • Jiang He’s revealed monster was destroyed, letting him add [Yata-Garasu] from his deck to his hand with its Graveyard effect.
  • Sherry LeBlanc said Jiang He could not use the added monster under [École de Zone] and remained confident in her advantage.

Ch. 524Yu-Gi-Oh!: Starting with an Underworld Deck, Bringing Despair to the World, Part 524

Jiang He turned Sherry LeBlanc’s attempt to counter his Trap into a devastating reversal, wiping out her field and hand with [Witch's Strike]. Sherry ended her turn with nothing, then declared that she wanted Jiang He as a teammate; Jiang He began his turn and played a card.

  • Jiang He activated [The Golden Apples] to recover 1,000 LP and summon a [Malus Token], but Sherry used [Centaur Mina]'s effect to negate it and set it face-down again.
  • Jiang He activated [Witch's Strike] because Sherry had negated his Trap, destroying every card on her field and in her hand.
  • Sherry ended her turn with an empty field and hand, then told Jiang He she wanted him as a teammate.
  • Alexis Rhodes, Akiza Izinski, and Rei Saotome reacted with hostility to Sherry's remark.
  • Jiang He drew a card for his turn and played one of the cards in his hand.

Ch. 525Yu-Gi-Oh!: Starting with an Underworld Deck, Depressing the World, Part 525

  • Jiang He summoned Yata-Garasu and attacked Sherry directly, reducing her Life Points by 200.
  • Jiang He used Yata-Garasu’s effect to skip Sherry’s next draw phase, leaving her unable to recover from her empty hand and field.
  • Yata-Garasu returned to Jiang He’s hand during the End Phase, and Jiang He cheerfully ended his turn as Sherry grew furious.
  • Sherry conceded the duel, and Jiang He accepted the silver briefcase containing their wager.
