Jiang He entered the WDC, defeated IV in a Shadow Duel, and gathered heart fragments while his companions faced other challengers. He then began a duel against Reginald Kastle, who was under Vetrix’s influence, and the arc left Jiang He facing a second Aero Shark that threatened to reduce his remaining Life Points to zero.

• Jiang He arrived in Heartland City for the WDC, saw through Mr. Heartland’s excuses, and learned that duelists needed five matching heart fragments to qualify for the knockout stage.
• Jiang He challenged IV to a Shadow Duel for their No. Xyz Darkness Cards and summoned Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon, while IV brought out Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo.
• Jiang He used Venom Swamp and Ultimate Falcon’s attack reduction to weaken IV’s monsters, then used Card of Safe Return to draw cards as IV revived his Gimmick Puppets.
• Jiang He negated IV’s Numbers' Wall and destroyed his set Elemental Absorber, prompting IV to concede as three Number Xyz Monster cards flew into Jiang He’s hand.
• Jiang He found a matching heart fragment among the pieces left behind by Vetrix and IV, then watched Chazz defeat Anna Kaboom, who was not a WDC participant.
• Reginald Kastle arrived with Jiang He’s final needed heart fragment and offered a No. Xyz Darkness Card as part of a wager, while Jiang He sensed Vetrix’s Heraldic Power influencing him.
• Reginald summoned Submersible Carrier Aero Shark and damaged Jiang He, but Jiang He used Runick spells to destroy the monster and repeatedly banish cards from Reginald’s deck.
• Reginald summoned Number 32: Shark Drake, but Jiang He stopped it from attacking with Runick Slumber, and Reginald then summoned a second Submersible Carrier Aero Shark, whose effect could deal enough damage to defeat Jiang He.

Jiang He defeated Reginald Kastle and Kite Tenjo, collecting their Heart Pieces and Number cards before challenging V and III alongside Yuma. In the tag Shadow Duel, Jiang He summoned Number 86: Heroic Champion - Rhongomyniad and broke through V’s Number 9: Dyson Sphere, leaving V demanding an explanation.

• Jiang He depleted Reginald Kastle’s Deck, stopped his attacks, and won his Heart Piece and Number Xyz Monster Darkness Card.
• Jiang He bought new cards with his Emotion Points, then faced Kite Tenjo in a Shadow Duel and summoned successive Galaxy-Eyes Cipher monsters.
• Jiang He took control of Kite’s Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon and defeated Kite, claiming his Number cards, map, and Heart Piece.
• Jiang He chose Fortuno as his next target, but V and III challenged him and Yuma Tsukumo to a tag Shadow Duel with Nomi and Kari as hostages.
• V revealed that Yuma’s father was alive but trapped in the Underworld, but Yuma refused to abandon Jiang He and join V.
• III and V used their monsters and traps to pressure Yuma and Jiang He, while Jiang He sacrificed Dinowrestler Pankratops to destroy Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell.
• Jiang He redirected III’s attack to destroy Yuma’s Utopia, then used Numbers' Awakening to summon Number 86: Heroic Champion - Rhongomyniad under Prohibition of Effects.
• Jiang He cleared the opposing back row with Harpie's Feather Duster and attacked V’s Number 9: Dyson Sphere, piercing its barrier and leaving V demanding to know why its effect failed.

Jiang He defeated Fortuno and faced Robin in the WDC knockout round, where his Time Thief deck repeatedly stole Robin’s cards and stalled his attacks. The duel remained unresolved as Robin faced an emptying deck and three turns of blocked attacks.

• Jiang He defeated III and V, rescued Kari Tsukumo and Nomi, and sent Zeman the Ape King to investigate the Underworld.
• Jiang He obtained new decks, sent the Ojama Trio to watch Fortuno, then trapped and defeated Fortuno with three Mushroom Men, claiming his Number Darkness Cards.
• Jiang He returned to the villa as the WDC qualifiers were announced, and Mr. Heartland paired him with the local television star Robin.
• Robin summoned Interplanetary Invader - Starship Robin, while Jiang He brought out Time Thief Redoer and destroyed Robin’s monster before Robin revived it.
• Jiang He built a field of Time Thief monsters and stole Ironhammer the Giant from Robin’s deck, disrupting Robin’s planned ace summon.
• Robin summoned Superdimensional Robot Galaxy Destroyer to destroy Jiang He’s set cards, but Jiang He negated its effect and stopped its attack with Draining Shield.
• Jiang He summoned three Time Thief Redoers and repeatedly stole cards from Robin’s deck, returning Starship Robin to the top of the deck and stopping attacks with Negate Attack and Threatening Roar.
• Jiang He activated Swords of Revealing Light, preventing Robin’s monsters from attacking for three turns, and Robin realized his deck could run out before the restriction ended.

Jiang He defeated Vetrix and won his Number Darkness Cards, then faced Dr. Faker in the final. After Dr. Faker’s Heart-eartH and traps threatened to force Jiang He’s monsters into a disastrous attack, Jiang He began a chain of Synchro Summons to turn the duel around.

• Chazz Princeton lost to Vetrix after Vetrix used Number 8: Heraldic King Gene Heir to defeat Dark End Dragon, though Chazz shared what he had learned about Vetrix’s deck with Jiang He.
• Jiang He met Vetrix in the semifinal and used his Paleozoic deck to withstand Vetrix’s Heraldry monsters, destroy Number 8, and banish Number 69: Heraldry Crest.
• Jiang He broke Vetrix’s mask with a direct attack, then used Drop Off to discard Vetrix’s drawn card until Vetrix passed out, winning two Number Darkness Cards.
• Dr. Faker’s barrier pulled Astral inside, but Jiang He shattered it and freed him before Dr. Faker entered the final after Orbital 7 withdrew.
• Dr. Faker summoned Number 53: Heart-eartH the False Skeletal God, while Jiang He used Unifrog’s direct attacks to reduce Dr. Faker’s Life Points to 600.
• Dr. Faker destroyed Unifrog and gained 3,000 Life Points by tributing Despair from the Dark, then used Battle Mania and his set cards to force Jiang He’s monsters to attack.
• Jiang He activated Card of Demise, summoned Righty Driver and Lefty Driver, then Synchro Summoned Formula Synchron and Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier to banish Dr. Faker’s Continuous Trap, a Graveyard monster, and his card in hand.
• Jiang He summoned Creation Resonator and Dark Rose Fairy to bring out T.G. Hyper Librarian, then used De-Synchro to revive Trishula’s materials and began another Trishula Synchro Summon.
