Who Was She?
The white-haired, masked woman sheathed her sword with swift, decisive movements, turning and walking off the stage without a second glance.
The cheers erupted again, but her steps remained unchanged, neither fast nor slow, as if the sounds had nothing to do with her.
Zani rubbed her knee as she walked off the ring, Kexi went up to her and supported her arm.
"Has the old injury flared up again?"
"It's alright." Zani waved her hand, her gaze still following the white-haired figure. "She is indeed strong. We'll fight again next time."
Kexi glanced in the direction where the white-haired, veiled woman had disappeared, and felt that the shape of that stringed sword was becoming clearer and clearer in his memory.
I'm sure I've seen it somewhere before.
He definitely saw him today.
The number plates in the waiting area have turned another page.
It was Kexi's turn to face her.
Kexi looked down at the crumpled piece of paper in her hand, then looked up at the white-haired, masked woman on the stage who was stretching her wrists, and took a deep breath.
"Your turn." Zani kicked him with her uninjured leg, her tone full of schadenfreude. "Good luck, young master, don't come down in three seconds."
Kexi took off her coat and threw it to her, then walked onto the ring without looking back.
The white-haired, veiled woman turned around, her calm eyes lingering on him for a moment.
Kexi always felt that the way she looked at him was different from how she looked at her other opponents, but he couldn't quite put his finger on why.
The referee's chop came down.
Kexi did not hesitate.
"Zani! Lend me your power!"
Zani's power surged into his limbs like a tidal wave, his muscle lines became more defined in an instant, a faint glow appeared on his body, his hair turned into a dazzling gold, and waves of energy rolled around him.
Someone in the stands gasped in surprise.
"Holy crap! It's Blazing Light Nightwalker!"
"What! The Blazing Light Nightwalker?!"
"That kid is the Blazing Light Nightwalker?!"
Zani was just getting ready to watch the show when she suddenly heard someone call her nickname, which startled her so much that she sat up abruptly.
Something's not right.
She didn't use any abilities, so how could she have been exposed?
Oh, so it was Kexi who stole her account. Never mind then.
She sat back down.
On the arena.
The white-haired, masked woman's eyes flashed with surprise when she saw Kexi's golden aura, but it quickly disappeared as Kexi threw a punch at her.
The white-haired, masked woman dodged to the side, her bowstring humming as it slashed towards his wrist.
Kexi changed his fist into a claw, grabbed the string sword, and used the momentum to rush forward, kneeing his opponent in the abdomen.
The transitions between these moves were incredibly smooth, even drawing a raised eyebrow from Zani, who was watching from the sidelines.
It seems the Second Miss's training did have some effect; even a good-for-nothing like the Young Master has improved so quickly in such a short time.
Kexi was fast, but the white-haired, masked woman was even faster.
She released one end of the stringed sword, twisted her body at an almost impossible angle, dodged the knee, and simultaneously grabbed Kexi's wrist with her other hand.
Kexi felt a cold touch on his wrist, but the other person didn't exert any force; they just gently pulled him back two steps.
Kexi steadied herself and pounced again.
His punches grew faster and faster, each strike accompanied by Resonance Energy, explosive sound, causing the iron cage of the ring to vibrate and hum.
The white-haired, masked woman moved through the shadows of fists, her stringed sword flashing in her hand, stopping precisely just in front of Kexi's vital points several times.
once.
Her bowstring stopped an inch from his throat, then she withdrew it and used her elbow to parry.
Once again.
Just as her grip was about to strike his temple, it shifted half an inch, grazing his hair as it passed.
again.
She had locked his joints; one push would have rendered him incapacitated, but she released him.
Kexi took three steps back, creating distance, her chest heaving violently.
It's not from being tired.
It's from anger.
"Do you know me?" he asked, staring into those eyes.
The white-haired, veiled woman shook her head.
Kexi's lips twitched down slightly.
If you don't know him, does that mean you're playing him?
Every move is stopped at the last moment; every time there's a chance to hurt him, but he just doesn't. Isn't that saying, "I can beat you anytime, but I'll play with you first"?
"So you're underestimating me?" Kexi clenched her fists so tightly they cracked, her voice low and menacing. "You're playing me."
Without waiting for a response, his arrogance erupted again.
This time he held nothing back; Zani's power was pushed to its limit, and a faint halo even appeared on his fist.
The spectators in the stands involuntarily leaned back.
"Again!"
He rushed forward at more than twice the speed he had before.
If that punch had landed properly, it would have deformed the iron cage.
The white-haired, masked woman's eyes finally changed.
For the first time, a serious glint appeared in those eyes that had always been as calm as still water.
She neither backed down nor stopped.
The stringed sword emitted an unprecedented shriek in her hand, colliding head-on with Kexi's fist.
The sounds of metal clashing against flesh echoed throughout the arena.
After a few moves, Kexi felt his back hit the ropes of the ring, followed by a cold touch on his neck.
A bow and arrow were held at his throat.
He lost.
The white-haired, masked woman sheathed her sword, her chest rising and falling slightly.
This was the first sign of exhaustion she had shown that evening.
She turned and walked towards the edge of the ring, her steps neither fast nor slow.
"Wait." Kexi stood up, supporting herself on the ropes, staring at her retreating figure. "Have we met before? Have we met today?"
The white-haired, masked woman paused for a moment, then shook her head.
She continued walking forward.
Kexi rushed forward.
Taking advantage of her inattention, he gripped the edge of the cloth covering her face with his fingers and yanked it off forcefully.
The white-haired, masked woman reacted extremely quickly, turning around the instant the cloth was ripped off and raising her arm to block, but it was too late.
The face towel fluttered to the ground.
Her white hair fell loose, revealing a face that Kexi had seen countless times today.
The ring lights shone on her face, making her slightly pale skin almost transparent.
Her eyes showed panic, embarrassment, and a hint of helplessness at being caught red-handed with nowhere to run.
"It really was you."
