"It really was you."

"Selina."

Someone in the stands was whistling.

The girl with the ninety-plus consecutive wins in the Black Street Arena was actually a girl who looked to be in her early twenties, and judging from her tone, the kid she had just defeated in the arena knew her.

Zani stood up from the bench in the waiting area, her mouth agape.

Selina stood still, her lips moving slightly.

Her gaze moved from Kexi's face to Zani in the waiting area, then back again, finally settling on her own toes.

"... Young Master, I'm sorry." Selina lowered her head in shame.

Kexi grabbed Selina's wrist and dragged her off the ring, all the way out of the Black Street until they reached a deserted place.

Zani limped over, and the two of them flanked Selina, their expressions remarkably identical, like two inspectors interrogating a criminal.

"Tell me," Kexi said, arms crossed, looking down at Selina. "What happened to your hair? Why are you fighting in underground boxing matches in the Black Street?"

Zani in agreement, her face clearly showing her interest in gossip.

Selina kept her head down, her hands tightly gripping the hem of her dress.

Her shoulders trembled slightly, as if she were struggling with something difficult.

After a while, she suddenly slid to her knees, her forehead almost touching the ground.

"My hair color was changed using my Resonance Ability."

"I'm sorry, young master."

Her voice was muffled, tinged with obvious shame.

"I did this because... for money."

Kexi was stunned for a moment, then her temper flared up.

"For money?"

He took a half step back, staring at Selina kneeling on the ground, his voice rising several octaves.

"If you're willing to fight in underground boxing matches for money, then can't you also sell me for money?"

Selina abruptly raised her head, her eyes already red. "Young Master, I absolutely wouldn't dare! My loyalty to the Montelli Family is as clear as day!"

"Then explain yourself." Kexi spread her hands, waiting for her to speak.

Selina opened her mouth, her lips moved several times, but in the end she didn't say anything.

She lowered her head again, staring at the ground as if there were some answer there.

Kexi waited a few seconds, but received no response, which made her even angrier. "What's your monthly salary in Montelli?"

Selina lowered her head and said softly, "Thirty thousand Monnaie."

Kexi crossed his arms, staring at Selina, who was looking down at him, and a slight smirk appeared on his face.

"Thirty thousand Monnaie a month, isn't that enough for you?"

His voice wasn't loud, but every word carried an barely suppressed anger.

"Has Montelli mistreated you? Has he deprived you of food or clothing? Or has he failed to give you red envelopes during holidays?"

Selina's lips pressed into a thin line, and the color drained from her face little by little.

Her fingers gripped the hem of her dress, but she didn't utter a single word in explanation.

Kexi took half a step forward. "You're from Montelli, you live and eat at the manor, and your daily expenses are almost nonexistent. Thirty thousand Monnaie a month, that's thirty-six hundred thousand a year. An ordinary family can't save that much in ten years, and you can get that much in a month. You've been in Montelli for at least a few years now, so tell me, where have you spent those millions of Monnaie?"

Selina lowered her head even further, her fingers twisting white on her knees.

Seeing his sullen and silent demeanor, Kexi's anger not only didn't subside, but instead surged even higher.

He bent down, bringing his face close to Selina's, his tone even sharper than before.

"You're taking Montelli's salary, signing a contract and a confidentiality agreement, and then you turn around and go fight in Black Street. Selina, what do you think that is? Isn't that betraying your own people?"

"Young Master, I didn't—" Selina suddenly raised her head, her eyes already red, her voice trembling.

"No?" Kexi straightened up and pointed towards the ring. "As far as I know, you've achieved at least a ninety-game winning streak. I won't mention one or two matches, just consider it as you coming out to relax after being under pressure. Ninety matches. When did you start boxing here? A month? Two months? Half a year? You work in Montelli during the day, and then change your clothes and run to the Black Street to fight in underground boxing matches at night. Where did you put your family's honor?"

Selina lowered her head again, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the hem of her clothes.

Kexi had no intention of letting her off the hook. "Have you thought about what people would say if you were recognized in the ring? They would say that the Montelli Family came to the Black Street to fight in underground boxing matches. That Montelli mistreated his employees? That Montelli exploited his subordinates? Or that Montelli's reputation is worthless and can be ruined however you want?"

I've thought about it--

"Of course you didn't intend to," Kexi interrupted her, her tone turning cold. "If you had, you wouldn't have done something like this. Do you think you're so powerful? So good at fighting? What good is being good at fighting? Does being good at fighting mean you can break the rules? Does being good at fighting mean you can trample the family's honor under your feet?"

Zani coughed beside her, as if to say something, but was silenced by a glare from Kexi.

Selina's eyes were brimming with tears, but she bit her lip tightly and remained silent.

Kexi looked at her, who seemed both aggrieved and stubborn, yet refused to explain herself, and finally lost all patience.

Kexi straightened up and waved her hand.

His tone suddenly became very calm, so calm that Zani felt something was off.

"Alright, you can go now."

Selina looked up, and something shattered in her eyes.

"You're very capable, a real talent." Kexi turned her back, her voice flat and emotionless, "But Montelli doesn't need someone like you."

Selina slowly stood up, her knees covered in dust, but she didn't brush it off.

She bowed deeply to Kexi's retreating figure, her voice so hoarse it was almost inaudible.

"I'm sorry, I've brought shame upon the family."

She turned and left.

His steps were slow and steady, but his shoulders slumped completely.

Zani watched Selina's figure disappear around the corner of the waiting area, then turned around, hesitating several times before finally saying, "Young Master, weren't you being a bit too harsh with your words?"

Kexi didn't say anything.

"You saw her like that," Zani, rubbing her still-aching knee. "She didn't try to deny it or shirk responsibility, and you kicked her out without even letting her explain. What if she really had some reason to be upset?"

Kexi remained silent. His expression was hard, but his eyes had begun to wander.

Zani stood up, patted him on the shoulder, sighed, and without saying anything more, limped away.

She had to go back to pretend to be wounded; she still had a day off to take tomorrow.

Kexi was left alone in the spot.

Kexi thought about it seriously and realized that he might have really gone a bit too far.

As he chased after her, he just happened to see Selina's back turn as she turned the corner.

Selina didn't walk very fast, and her posture was as upright as usual, but she raised her right hand several times to wipe her eyes with the back of her hand.

Once, twice, three times.

When she lowers her hand, her shoulders will tremble slightly, then straighten up, then slump down again.

Kexi watched from behind, feeling a little embarrassed.

After Selina made two turns, Kexi suddenly became alert.

She walked in the same direction as the Black Street.

His face instantly turned green.

Is money really that important to her?
