Echoes of the Past (4)
"Hmm~ What's going on? Why is it so noisy in the living room?"
Having just finished her afternoon nap, Xiao Yue stretched and walked out of her room, only to find two unfamiliar beauties in ancient Chinese style suddenly appearing in her living room. She immediately became much more awake.
"Darling, explain yourself?" She spoke with an air of authority, as if she wouldn't give up until her husband provided an explanation.
"Yue'er, isn't this the guest you invited? Shouldn't you be the one explaining?" Father Xiao asked, puzzled.
"What...?" Xiao Yue's doubts deepened.
Seeing that she was about to be exposed, Suisui, who had a quick wit, immediately stood up and went over to make friends with her.
"Senior Yue, have you forgotten? I'm Suisui. You even gave me dance lessons back in school, don't you remember?"
"Suisui? That name sounds strangely familiar..."
Xiao Yue carefully examined the pretty and charming Suisui in front of her, feeling as if she had seen her somewhere before, but she couldn't remember where.
However, judging from their polite reaction, their sudden visit was clearly not for any ulterior motive, so let's just cooperate with them for now.
"Oh dear, it's you, you little rascal! Look at my memory, it's only been a short time and I've already forgotten everything. I'm so sorry."
Seeing that she had gotten away with it, Suisui secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh, by the way, this is my younger sister, Yangyang. She's often heard me mention you, senior, and has long admired you, so I brought her along as well."
"I've heard so much about you," Yangyang said with a polite smile.
"You two sisters are so alike, like you were made from the same mold," Xiao Yue said, not holding back her praise. "You're both so beautiful."
After some mutual flattery, Xiao Yue and Yang Sui started exchanging pleasantries. Xiao's father, quite considerately, gave the coffee table to the two long-separated fellow disciples so he could watch Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf with his own children.
Seeing that her child and husband were not paying attention to her, Xiao Yue composed herself and her expression became serious.
"I recognize your faces, but I don't know where I've seen you before," she honestly stated her thoughts. "Who are you?"
Suisui's expression suddenly twitched; she thought she had successfully fooled her...
"Actually, we didn't mean any harm..." Yangyang said softly, beginning to explain the reasons why they had come here.
after a while.
"This is a bit supernatural..." Xiao Yue rubbed her temples. "I believe in Marxism-Leninism and historical materialism, but I do have a vague resemblance to the two of you girls, so I'll choose to believe you for now."
"So, is there anything I can help you with?"
"I think you probably can't help with this." Since she was Xiao Ling's mother, Suisui naturally spoke with respect.
"Alright, in that case, you two girls will just have to do your best." Xiao Yue smiled slightly. "If you disappear for too long, your parents might worry themselves to death."
"Thank you for your understanding," Suisui replied gracefully. "That's all I wanted to say, so we won't linger any longer."
"Take care on your journey." Xiao Yue nodded with a smile, then instructed her child, "Xiao Yu, see these two older sisters off."
"Good."
After giving a nonchalant reply, Xiao Ling took the initiative to walk over and lead the Yang Sui sisters to the entrance.
"Take care on your journey, ladies." Xiao Ling said goodbye to them. "You're welcome to come often. Although my mom hasn't said it, she hates being alone."
"Okay~" Suisui smiled brightly, "We'll definitely come again next time we have the chance."
Yangyang and Suisui opened the door and went outside, but at the same time they both missed their footing and fell straight down.
"What's going on?" Yangyang asked in surprise.
"I want to ask that too!" Suisui said helplessly.
Fortunately, the two women were not entirely unprepared and managed to land safely despite the high-speed descent.
"Are we back to square one?" Yangyang frowned as she looked at the familiar room 609.
"There's something different. Look, the door is ajar, it's not locked." Suisui gestured with her lips towards the doorknob.
"Shall we go in?"
That's exactly what I was thinking.
So, Suisui took the lead, pushing open the door and entering the room, with Yangyang following closely behind.
"Why does it feel so deserted now? I remember there used to be a TV here...?"
Bang!
Before they could observe carefully, a small explosion suddenly came from the kitchen not far away, startling the two sisters who immediately rushed into the kitchen to check the situation.
"What happened...?"
Inside the kitchen, Xiao Ling stood in front of the stove, staring at the pile of disastrous food, trying to figure out where she had gone wrong in the cooking process.
"Cough cough..." Suisui couldn't help but cough twice when she smelled the burnt smell in the air.
Yangyang, on the other hand, is a woman of action, quietly using her Resonance Power to refresh the air in the kitchen.
"You..." Xiao Ling turned to look at Yangyang and Suisui, "Ah, I remember now, it's Sister Yangyang and Sister Suisui."
"I didn't expect you to still remember us," Suisui said with a smile.
"I've seen a lot of pretty women, but I remember those who are so strikingly beautiful as you very clearly. Even after four years, I still have the memory of you," Xiao Ling explained, her gaze returning to the stove.
After listening to Xiao Ling's story, Yangyang and Suisui looked at each other in bewilderment.
For them, the scene change just now took only a few minutes, but Xiao Ling said it had been four years.
If that's the case, then the purpose of Sonoro's existence is probably to allow the two sisters to personally experience or even participate in certain parts of Xiao Ling's past life.
"Are you cooking right now?" Yangyang asked, leaning closer to Xiao Ling.
"I can't make it." Xiao Ling shook her head. "Either it's burnt, or the pot exploded."
"Your mother isn't here?" Yangyang pressed.
"My mom can't cook; the most she can do is bring me some fried rice with eggs from outside."
"Then your father..." Suisui was about to speak.
"He passed away. He got sick and couldn't pull through."
Suisui: A single sentence made her feel guilty about teaching for the rest of her life.
"How about I teach you how to cook?" Yangyang volunteered.
"If you can, please do so." Xiao Ling bowed slightly to the temporary teacher to express her gratitude. "This is one of the few things I can do right now."
"Leave it to me!" Yangyang smiled and ruffled the little boy's hair.
"Then I'll be your assistant?" Suisui said with a smile.
"Okay, thank you, sister."
Although Yangyang's skills are not as good as those of famous chefs, she can still easily cook some home-style dishes, and teaching Xiao Ling is a piece of cake.
"Look, like this..." Yangyang patiently explained the precautions for cooking, word by word, while Xiao Ling carefully memorized each word.
Suisui was preparing the ingredients on the side, and as she watched Yangyang teaching Xiao Ling how to cook, a smile couldn't help but appear on her lips.
Of course, they couldn't bear to let a child who wasn't even as tall as the stove be the head chef, so most of the time Yangyang was in charge of cooking.
About half an hour later, a simple four-dish meal with soup was prepared and served.
"Now it's time to see the results!" Yangyang smiled brightly, picked up a piece of chili-fried eggs that Xiao Ling had made with her chopsticks, and put it in her mouth. "Mmm..."
"Sister Yangyang, you can spit it out if it doesn't taste good."
"No, it's not that delicious, but it's still good with rice!" Yangyang tapped Xiao Ling's forehead.
"Really...?"
Xiao Ling picked up her chopsticks, tasted a piece, and after savoring it, her expression didn't change much.
"What's wrong? Not very satisfied with your work?" Suisui teased with a smile.
"It's not that I'm dissatisfied... it's just that I feel it shouldn't taste like this." Xiao Ling shook her head.
"When my father was alive, he was always the one who cooked at home. Sometimes he would find it too much trouble and would just make me stir-fried eggs with chili peppers. Although I always said I was tired of it, I could still eat it happily when it was served."
Four years have passed... This plate of stir-fried eggs with chili peppers still uses the same recipe, but I just can't find that familiar taste again.
