(Let me cover my bases: this book uses its own setting, so if anything doesn't match, please go by this book's setting. Some discrepancies with the game's story will be explained later, and there is no Trailblazer, only the Star of Finality. Updates are irregular because the author is too lazy.
Later note: the author's note in chapter 101 gives a rough idea of what the protagonist looks like. I'm too lazy to explain why I call him a male version of Kiana anymore.)
"Unknown data detected loading into the system."
"Oh?" The Intellitron couldn't help growing curious.
He casually swiped across the screen and locked onto the coordinates.
"Capturing unknown data... capture failed! Simulating data landing point. Simulation successful. Transferring to the target's location."
A... person? A humanoid child appeared on the grass, and the Intellitron slowly walked forward.
"Analyzing target. Analysis failed. Warning! Incoming unknown data."
"Account: unnamed. Authority: Corruption (growing). Race: Herrscher."
"Heh... does this authority not come from a narrow Path?"
"Naming ID: Seraphis."
"ID: Seraphis loaded into the system. Simulated Path: Genesis. Driving force: Corruption."
"Look forward to it, my absurd creation. The roots of old shall be rewritten."
"Guess who I am?" A sweet voice rang out behind him as darkness covered his eyes.
"Cyrene, cut it out." Sera had been troubled lately, because he had finally recovered his memories.
What do you mean I transmigrated into Amphoreus?!
Was an ordinary person like me, who couldn't do anything, asking to die by getting involved?
Cyrene sat down beside him and tilted her head. "Is something bothering you?"
"Mm..." Sera nodded gently. Right now, he wanted to know whether this was Eternal Recurrence.
As for telling him to run away, was that a joke?! False or not, this was his home. His family was all here. Asking him to watch them die...
"I can't do it..."
"If you're sad, would you like to try being in my arms?" The pink-haired elf opened her arms, the blush on her pointed ears reflecting her feelings.
"I don't want to." That was what he thought, but his body seemed to have a mind of its own, and Sera gently embraced Cyrene.
"Can you tell me what's bothering you, Sera?" Cyrene asked softly in his ear.
"I want to try doing something, but I'm afraid I'll mess everything up." Sera's voice was muffled and a little low.
"If there's something you want to do, then do it. If you're afraid, hold my hand tight. I'll always be here."
"...Mm."
"All right." Cyrene gently patted Sera on the back.
"Today we promised to go to the Maze of Tribulations with Phainon. Let's not keep him waiting."
Sera slowly loosened his arms and was about to get up, but Cyrene took his hand.
"Let's go."
Sera was just about to say something when he saw Cyrene wink at him.
Sera's mind went blank, and he let Cyrene lead him along in a daze.
Not until someone patted him on the shoulder, a little hard.
"Sera? Sera, what's wrong?" Phainon was a little puzzled.
"Nothing." Sera silently moved Phainon's hand away. He had wondered why it felt so heavy. It was Phainon, so that explained it. A young man from Elysia Village really was strong; he was only in his teens and already had that much strength.
"All right." Phainon nodded.
"Hurry up. The village chief is waiting for us to draw Oracle Cards."
"Children, you're here." Dodolami held a box.
"Hello, village chief~" all three said.
"Come and take it, child."
"Come, children. Let fate reveal your true colors to you."
Cyrene accepted the Oracle Card album, which looked like the Book of My Own, with both hands.
"A devout question will receive an answer of equal weight... Shall we draw?"
Phainon drew an Oracle Card, and Sera leaned over to take a look. As expected, it was the Savior.
"The Savior..."
"The Savior, child. In the future, you will be someone who bears everyone's wishes."
"Sera, you draw one too."
Sera had just reached out when a blank Oracle Card appeared in his hand.
"Blank?"
"Oh? But there aren't any blank cards in my album."
"Haha..." Dodolami chuckled softly.
"A blank card, child. Your future means whatever you yourself want to do."
"What I want... to do?" Sera said slowly, as though something had occurred to him. The blank Oracle Card shone again, and an infinity symbol appeared on it.
This is... Amphoreus?!
"Loading permissions. ID Seraphis detected. Releasing authority."
"Authority: Corruption loaded. Path: Genesis."
Light appeared again, piercing through the infinity symbol.
ID: Seraphis Race: Herrscher Authority: Corruption (growing)
So... it wasn't that he had no power. Sera's eyes lit up. He had a way to save Cyrene and Amphoreus.
But... it wasn't enough in scale. He didn't even have a core yet, so he had to find a way to solve that.
"Sera?" Cyrene waved a hand.
"Ah, it's nothing." Sera came back to his senses, an uncontrollable smile on his face.
"You're so happy. Did that Oracle Card solve what's been bothering you?"
"Mm. I finally have the key to starting my journey."
"Sera, Cyrene, what are you talking about?" Phainon looked at them strangely, a little confused.
"Nothing," Sera and Cyrene denied in unison.
"Oh." The honest young man from Elysia Village dutifully shut his mouth and watched them.
"It's getting late, children. You should head back." Dodolami broke the silence.
Something wasn't right. Sera's expression stiffened a little. He remembered that in the story, the Black Tide seemed to have arrived right after they drew their Oracle Cards.
"Let's go, quickly." Sera hurried toward the exit, where everything he heard was peaceful. Sera stopped in his tracks. Thankfully, the Black Tide hadn't come.
"What's wrong?" Cyrene and Phainon caught up with him.
"Nothing..." Sera shook his head. He didn't intend to let them know about their cruel fate just yet. At least until they left the Aedes Elysiae, he would let them spend some peaceful days.
Phainon didn't think much of it. Sera wouldn't hurt him, and since Sera hadn't said anything, it wasn't something he could know about yet.
"You can tell me anything, you know♪~" Cyrene's tone was as gentle as ever.
"Mm." Sera nodded. As he was now, he really couldn't think of any good plan. The power of Corruption was only a ticket in. Things would be easier after Finalization, but right now, let alone preparing for Finalization, he hadn't even formed a core.
He hadn't been particularly smart before, and he was the same now. And as everyone knew, the strength of a Herrscher's abilities depended on his knowledge. Just like Sirin, who had six cores but hadn't brought out their true power.
His goal was already clear: go to the Grove of Epiphany to study, then find a way to form a core. In fact, he thought Lygus would be his best teacher. But they were enemies, so that was impossible. (Lygus: Not so.) Thus, his target was Anaxa.
Beyond the myth
"Listen, the player who shattered the cave has struck the first note. In the name of the divine audience, I shall bear witness to infinite possibilities!"
