Background / History
Glamoth’s fall and rescue
Firefly served in the Glamoth Iron Cavalry against the Swarm. On a planet completely overrun by Propagation, she detonated an explosive powerful enough to destroy the world and its giant mother bug, crying out for the Empress. Sera found her unconscious in space, wearing a damaged silver-white combat suit, and carried her to a nearby habitable planet 110.
After Sera healed her injuries and withdrew from sight, Firefly awoke beneath a starry sky surrounded by fireflies. Knowing that Glamoth no longer existed, she questioned why she should live or die. She ultimately chose to fight for herself, and her armor blossomed into her own colors. Sera secretly recorded the moment 110.
Joining the Stellaron Hunters
Firefly initially confronted Sera in Sam’s armor and activated Complete Combustion. His offer of companionship, together with her intuition as a warrior, persuaded her to trust him. He then deleted her Entropy Syndrome, prompting her to embrace him in tears and declare that they would become family 111.
She became the second of the four recruits brought into the Stellaron Hunters. Elio immediately assigned her to accompany Sera in recruiting Yingxing, later called Blade, and help calm him if necessary. Firefly remained ready to intervene when Blade appeared threatening, but Sera handled his outburst himself 111 112 113 114.
Sera subsequently offered the Hunters access to private worlds through The World’s Beginning Tavern. Firefly instead asked to live with him. She also began playing games with Sera and Silver Wolf, learning the controls quickly and adapting her combat coordination to their matches 115 116 117.
Confession and Amphoreus
When introduced to Sera’s other companions, Firefly openly declared that she loved him and wanted to become his family. Cyrene and Herta accepted her. Sera reciprocated her love but asked her to distinguish it from gratitude for being saved; Firefly answered by embracing him and repeating her confession 119.
Her immediate trust and Elio’s refusal to show her an “ending” led Sera to conclude that they had known one another before their apparent first meeting. He believed Elio was avoiding interference with cause and effect 113 119.
On Amphoreus, Firefly accompanied Cyrene and Mydei on their journey to confront Nikador. She later visited Sera with Cyrene to observe the struggle against Aegle, and the two carried his message back to Okhema before Amphoreus’s battle to transcend fate 123 131 133.
When Sera departed for another timeline, he told Firefly and the other Hunters to remain on Amphoreus, leaving Kafka to watch over them 146.
Alternate timeline: Galaxy Ranger
In the alternate future Sera visited, Elio had never founded the Stellaron Hunters. After awakening, Firefly wandered along the star rails and destroyed Swarms wherever she found them. During one such battle, she met Galaxy Rangers who invited her to join their ranks. She subsequently followed their internal communications and helped wherever she could 147 153 154.
Sera traced her toward Penacony after finding a report of an armored Galaxy Ranger rescuing travelers from space pirates. There, Firefly faced humanity’s fear of Propagation alone in the primordial dream 147 150.
Sera joined her and transformed the dream’s Swarm into fireworks. He explained that he came from another timeline at Terminus’s request and that she was destined to turn the tide against Nihility’s Finality. Despite her complicated feelings about Propagation, Firefly accepted the responsibility as something she personally wanted to do for the galaxy 151.
After curing her illness, Sera borrowed fire from her Complete Combustion State. Together, they broke through the dream’s second and third layers to reach Sunday and the others 151.
Preparation for Nihility’s Finality
At Dream’s Edge, Sera gave Firefly a purified conceptual status extracted from Propagation’s remains with Nous’s help. She underwent a transformation that supplied the prerequisites for godhood and, according to Sera, the ability to save everything at the final moment of Nihility’s Finality. She remained afraid of the responsibility but resolved to try 152.
Before the coming battle, they shared cake, watched shooting stars, bought her a student-style outfit, and visited Aideen Park. Firefly wished for the galaxy to avoid Finality and spoke of wanting an ordinary life as a student in a world without Paths 153 154.
Although she treasured that peaceful day, she chose to proceed with her mission so others could continue enjoying ordinary lives. Sera promised to spend time with her again afterward, sealing the agreement with a pinky promise. They then joined the assembled forces traveling to Amphoreus 154.
Appearance
- Combat suit: Wears a silver-white suit, damaged when Sera first rescues her 110.
- Sam armor: Encloses her entire body and gives her speech a mechanical sound. Its colors change after she discovers her own reason to fight 110 111.
- Illness markings: Entropy Syndrome produces spreading corruption-like patterns on her body, including her neck; these disappear when Sera cures her 110 151.
- Springtime Gift outfit: Her alternate-timeline self chooses a campus-style outfit with a small handbag, giving her the appearance of a newly enrolled student 153 154.
Personality
Firefly combines a gentle manner with a soldier’s vigilance. She responds to unfamiliar people by summoning Sam and preparing for combat, yet places considerable trust in her warrior’s intuition. Once she accepts Sera, she is affectionate and unusually direct about wanting a shared future with him 111 112 119.
Her military discipline carries into everyday activities: she acknowledges instructions solemnly, values coordinated action, and quickly becomes an enthusiastic combat-focused gamer. Even when inexperienced, she follows her teammates’ guidance and learns from it 115 116 117.
Her alternate-timeline self longs for ordinary experiences rather than a life defined entirely by battle. She shares her cake before eating, worries that her happiness may be unreal, and hopes to live as a student. Nevertheless, she willingly puts the galaxy’s future ahead of that peaceful life 153 154.
