The Difficulty of Dealing with Evil Fire
After settling the remaining matters with Yan Shaozhe, the two got down to the main issue: how to suppress Ma Xiaotao's Evil Fire.
Yan Shaozhe's initial idea was to use the method from the original story: suppress Ma Xiaotao's Evil Fire with Xu Xingyu's Ultimate Ice.
That way, the Evil Fire inside Ma Xiaotao could slowly be worn away over time.
Another method was to give her a fire-attribute heavenly treasure on the level of an Immortal Herb to replenish her yang Qi, thereby expelling the evil Qi and yin Qi from her body.
Xu Xingyu objected, however. If Ma Xiaotao did not have that Yin Fire inside her, both of Yan Shaozhe's methods would have been viable.
But with the Yin Fire present, the two methods were no longer so reliable.
The Ultimate Ice would constantly stimulate the Yin Fire inside Ma Xiaotao, instead causing it to grow stronger.
In the end, under the combined assault of Yin Fire and Evil Fire, Ma Xiaotao would sooner or later explode and die while cultivating.
Following Ma Hongjun's example and taking a fire-attribute Immortal Herb would not work either. Most fire-attribute medicinal herbs in the world leaned toward yang, and taking one rashly would cause the currently balanced Yin-Yang Twin Fires to spiral out of control.
If the two fires went out of control, Ma Xiaotao would be crippled if she was lucky. If she was unlucky, she would die.
Upon learning this, both Ma Xiaotao and Yan Shaozhe were somewhat frightened. Neither had imagined that the two methods they had considered the safest were actually death warrants. It was a fact no one could have foreseen.
At the same time, it was the first time Yan Shaozhe felt that someone had surpassed him in knowledge of Martial Souls-and that someone was a child only in his teens.
Fortunately, Yan Shaozhe did not particularly mind Xu Xingyu slapping him in the face, and asked what he thought the best solution would be.
Xu Xingyu offered two solutions. The first was to use his Ultimate Fire to assimilate Ma Xiaotao's flames, allowing her to convert her Yin Fire into yang fire.
The remaining Evil Fire would slowly be expelled from her body in the process. Once it was completely purged, Ma Xiaotao's flames would also advance to Ultimate Fire.
This was the safest solution, but there was a price. Since the Evil Fire was itself part of her Martial Soul Origin, she would likely lose a few levels in the process.
The second solution was more daring: maintain the current state of her Yin-Yang Twin Fires and form a Yin-Yang Vortex inside Ma Xiaotao's body.
That way, she could freely change her flames from yang to yin as she pleased.
Afterward, Xu Xingyu would regularly use Ultimate Fire to temper Ma Xiaotao's body. In this way, he could use Ultimate Fire to refine the Evil Fire inside her body and turn it into pure Soul Power.
Ma Xiaotao could then absorb it through the Yin-Yang Vortex. Once the Evil Fire was completely refined, her flames would also advance to the ultimate level thanks to Xu Xingyu's repeated tempering of her body.
Moreover, because her current flames were the Yin-Yang Twin Fires, she would gain the abilities of Ultimate Yang Fire and Ultimate Yin Fire.
It could be said that, if this method succeeded, Ma Xiaotao would gain the most from it.
However, as the saying went, there was no free lunch in the world. This method offered the greatest reward, but also carried the greatest risk.
First, during this period, Ma Xiaotao had to maintain the balance between her two fires. She could only cultivate when the sun and moon changed places, or when Xu Xingyu tempered her body with Ultimate Fire.
That was because cultivating at any other time would make it easy for Evil Fire to invade her while she converted her flames.
This would disrupt the balance between the two fires. If that happened, not even heaven itself could help her.
As a result, Ma Xiaotao's cultivation speed would drop sharply during this period.
The second problem was that she had to avoid elements that were overly extreme in yin or yang. If she was struck by either of these two elements at close range, the balance between her two fires would also be broken.
After hearing Xu Xingyu's solutions, the two did not agree on a choice.
Yan Shaozhe thought the second solution was too risky and that a steadier approach would be better.
There was another reason, of course. Flames like Yin Fire, which primarily absorbed energy, could easily cause someone to fall and become an Evil Soul Master. He therefore thought it better for his disciple to keep pure yang fire.
Ma Xiaotao, however, thought the second solution was better. Her cultivation speed might drop for a short time, but once she gained the twin ultimate fires, her combat strength would rival that of a Soul Saint.
If she chose the first solution, she would still gain Ultimate Fire, but it would be purely yang fire, and she would also lose several of the levels she had worked so hard to cultivate.
That was something Ma Xiaotao could never accept.
As master and disciple continued to argue, Ma Xiaotao suddenly thought of something and asked, "Junior Xingyu, you said earlier that I couldn't touch ultimate yin or yang elements while using the second solution, right?"
"That's right?" Xu Xingyu looked at Ma Xiaotao in confusion.
"But isn't your Ultimate Fire itself yang fire? Then why can I use it to temper my body and refine the Evil Fire?"
Xu Xingyu answered Ma Xiaotao's question seriously. "That's because my flame isn't yang fire. It's a flame formed by the fusion of yin and yang."
To prove it to the master and disciple, Xu Xingyu conjured a small red flame in his hand.
Though the flame was small, its immense heat and the destructive power contained within it told everyone present that it was not to be underestimated.
Soon, the red flame separated into two: a small golden flame and a small black one.
The golden flame gave off a feeling of searing heat, supremely yang and fierce, while the black flame gave off an eerie feeling. Though the heat from the black flame could be clearly felt, its surroundings froze.
Just then, the two flames collided in Xu Xingyu's hand and once again became the red flame from before.
The sight made Ma Xiaotao and Yan Shaozhe realize once again what a genius the youth before them was!
After all, Xu Xingyu's second Martial Soul possessed not only the ability of ultimate flames, but also the ability of Ultimate Ice.
If Xu Xingyu could freely separate the yin and yang attributes of the fire element, then he could do the same with the ice attribute.
At that moment, Yan Shaozhe believed that the unknown dragon-shaped Martial Soul Xu Xingyu had revealed earlier was a Martial Soul that might have mutated from the legendary Silver Dragon.
That also explained why the Silver Dragon Douluo had chosen Xu Xingyu as his personal disciple. After all, their Martial Souls shared the same origin!
Legend had it that the Silver Dragon and the Golden Dragon were Dragon Clans formed when the Dragon God split apart. That meant both Dragon Clans had the potential to reach God Level!
This was probably the true nature of the God Level presence his teacher had sensed in Xu Xingyu. Indeed, if Xu Xingyu really did have a mutated Silver Dragon Martial Soul,
then perhaps he truly could reach the legendary realm of becoming a god at level one hundred, just like Ancestor Tang San ten thousand years ago!
At the thought, Yan Shaozhe grew fervent, and he unconsciously began to forget the unpleasantness Shrek had had with the Spirit Contract Pagoda in the past.
After all, if Shrek Academy could truly produce another god, Shrek's position on the continent would be unshakable from then on!
He just didn't know what kind of divinity Xu Xingyu would have after becoming a god. The Silver Dragon could freely control multiple elements, so he could not possibly be a god of a single element.
Besides its elements, the Silver Dragon's other great strength was its spiritual power, so Xu Xingyu would likely become a god related to spiritual power.
Of course, as a race formed from one half of the legendary Dragon God, the Silver Dragon might also be able to inherit the legendary Dragon God Divinity.
Just then, Yan Shaozhe's train of thought suddenly stopped.
Dragon God??? Wait!!!!
