Background / History

Xu Xingyu’s first incarnation was the Starry Dragon Emperor, the Dragon God’s son and the dragon race’s first Emperor Auspicious Beast. A stellar anomaly at his birth mutated his bloodline beyond his father’s. His assassination helped precipitate the Dragon God War; his surviving soul remained within his life-bound Star Soul Pearl and later negotiated the war’s aftermath with the original Five Great God Kings 2 294.

His second life was on Blue Star, where he was an ordinary university engineering student. Accidental electrocution while working on his graduation project led to his rebirth on the Douluo Continent as the Star Saint Duke’s grandson 2.

Familiar with the Douluo novels, he initially intended to avoid the original protagonists’ conflicts, inherit his grandfather’s title, and serve the Star Luo Empire. That plan collapsed after his Twin Martial Soul awakening. Sun Moon Empire assassins took him hostage, and Gu Yuena rescued him and revealed his first-life identity 2.

Xu Xingyu agreed to help Gu Yuena revitalize the Soul Beast Clan and shared his Blue Star memories with her. He located Electrolux ahead of the original story’s events and developed Soul Spirits with his assistance. Recognizing that the method alone was insufficient, he also established rules for Soul Spirits and helped combine worlds within the Star Soul Pearl into a small plane 2.

Tang San subsequently targeted him as an obstacle to his Tang Clan Continent Plan. A first-life contingency allowed Xu Xingyu to refine one attacking avatar into a pearl. Another confrontation ended with Xu Xingyu defeating Tang San after fusing with the Golden Dragon King’s godhood, enslaving Da Ming and Er Ming, and bringing the Clear Sky Sect under the Spirit Contract Pagoda 2 13.

Xu Xingyu favors preparation over relying on inherited advantages. He uses his knowledge of the original story, preserves contingencies against divine enemies, and backs up his memories before entering a realm capable of erasing his identity. He also criticizes dependence on Soul Rings and seeks genuine understanding of the powers he uses 2 23 280.

He is pragmatic about institutions and alliances. Although he dislikes aspects of Shrek Academy’s conduct, he seeks its cooperation and enters the Inner Court for useful knowledge and techniques. His negotiation over Ma Xiaotao’s treatment likewise secures a valuable artifact while concealing the control he would retain over her future divine position 111 230.

In romance, he openly accepts loving multiple partners rather than presenting himself as exclusively devoted. Nevertheless, he distinguishes attraction from affection: Ma Xiaotao’s beauty alone does not persuade him to accept her initial advances. Rivalries among his partners frequently leave him flustered, though he gradually becomes more confident in handling them 31 255 263.

He is protective without wanting his companions to become dependent ornaments. He treats Gu Qiuxi as family rather than merely a source of fortune, insists she continue developing after becoming his lover, and takes Buer’s upbringing seriously.
