The River of Light at the Gaps
As the petals of the Rainbow Meadow spread into a sea, "fragments of light flowed" from the gaps in each flower. This light was neither the cool tones of the Star Orbit Root Network nor the warm hues of the Flame Root Network, but rather "a mixture of all existing energies"—possessing the sharpness of Angular Nebula, the fragmentation of Intermittent Shadow, the flow of light mist, and the transparency of illusions, converging into "miniature River of Light" between the gaps in the petals, as if proclaiming that "even imperfection can flow with tenderness."
The transparent tree of the seed gathers these miniature River of Light into its Memory Light Stone. From the Entanglement fragments of shadow and broken branches, "transparent sap" seeps out. This sap seeps into the soil along the roots, weaving a "three-dimensional network of River of Light" beneath the meadow—the nodes of the network are "all existing gaps," and the light streams connecting the nodes are "mutual support." The tree's branches no longer deliberately "repair the broken parts," but instead direct the gaps towards "the direction of the miniature River of Light," allowing the energy within the River of Light to "flow into the branches along the gaps," nourishing "new buds with scars." "The gaps are actually 'valve for energy exchange.'" Within the Memory Light Stone of the transparent tree, the flow of the River of Light plays in a loop: the gaps in the Angular Nebula absorb "the supporting force of the Star Orbit framework" and emit "their own soft light"; the gaps in the Intermittent Shadow receive "the inclusive force of the illusory dotted lines" and release "the courage of shattering"; each gap finds balance in "giving and receiving."
In Luoyu's sketchbook, miniature River of Light and fragmented flower petals of meadows "formed an imperfect star map." She discovered that each "gap"—a missing piece—corresponded to "a symbiotic story": the largest gap was "the scar of Angular Nebula protecting a young star," while the smaller gaps beside it were "gaps left by the framework of Star Orbit"; the brightest gap was "the trace of a torn Intermittent Shadow," and the surrounding points of light were "fragments supported by phantom dotted lines." "The star map is complete because each gap holds a story." She drew "tiny arrows" next to the gaps, pointing from one gap to another, like the flow of River of Light. "You see," she said, "They complement each other through imperfection."
In Qingxian's "staccato and legato harmonies," she incorporates the "sound of a flowing River of Light." She makes the piano music imitate the "irregular flow" of the River of Light: sometimes turbulent, like the rapid collision of fragments; sometimes gentle, like the merging of light and mist; sometimes paused, like the silence at a gap. When the melody is "completely synchronized" with the flow of the miniature River of Light, the gap in the broken petals suddenly "sprays out colorful light mist," which condenses in the air into a "transparent musical score"—the notes on the score all have "tiny gaps," yet they are "perfectly harmonious" when played, like a group of "imperfect dancers performing the most synchronized dance steps."
"Imperfect notes are what make up the most authentic melodies." Qingxian looked at the transparent sheet music; those "missing notes" had more "life" than the complete ones. She remembered Intermittent Shadow had once felt inferior because he "dared not utter a complete sound," but now, with the accompaniment of River of Light, his broken voice "became part of the melody"—it turns out that symbiotic music never needs "all sounds to be perfect," it only needs "every sound to dare to speak."
Beside Yanche's fragment resonance chamber, a new "Gap Energy Converter" has been added. This device can transform "energy fluctuations at the gaps" into "usable symbiotic forces": the gap energy of the Angular Nebula is converted into a "sharp protective shield," which can block "void noise" for the fragile Courage Bud; the gap energy of the Intermittent Shadow becomes a "broken adhesive," which can "gently glue together the scattered light fragments, but without forcing fusion"; and the gap energy of the light mist becomes a "flowing buffer zone," which can allow conflicting entities to "slowly calm down under its protection."
"The gap isn't a loss of energy, it's an untapped treasure." Yanche adjusted the converter; the energy conversion rate on the screen showed that the energy at the gap was "more resilient than that at the intact part." He planted "gap grass" next to the device; the grass's leaves were covered with "natural little holes," yet it could "absorb more sunlight than intact leaves," "because the gap allows light to shine in from different angles."
In the logic log of the Star Orbit Root Network, the "Gap Benefit Analysis" yielded a counterintuitive conclusion: the "gap rate" is positively correlated with the "symbiotic contribution"—the more gaps an existence has, the more unique the support it can provide. For example, the "scarred gaps" of the Angular Nebula can precisely "catch up meteorite fragments in the void," something the complete Star Orbit framework "cannot do"; the "broken gaps" of the Intermittent Shadow can flexibly "fill the gaps in the flow of light mist," something the complete Phantom Root Network "finds difficult to achieve." On the blank pages of the log, the new runes drew a "gap complementarity diagram": each gap "perfectly meshes" with another gap, like a jigsaw puzzle, yet retains its "individual shape."
That evening, the miniature River of Light of the Root Network Sea of Stars suddenly "flooded collectively," with "intense energy surging" from every gap in their existence. It turned out to be the arrival of a "resonance tide of the void"—a tide that "amplifies the qualities of all existence," including both strengths and weaknesses. In this critical moment, all existence "voluntarily revealed their gaps": the Angular Nebula used its scarred gaps to "absorb the sharp energy of the tide," transforming it into a "protective shield"; the Intermittent Shadow used their broken gaps to "disperse the impact of the tide," becoming "buffers"; the light mist and the Rippling Mist Root Network used their flowing gaps to "guide the direction of the tide," transforming into "channels"; and the Star Orbit and Phantom Root Network used their frame and dotted line gaps to "fix the boundaries of the tide," forming "safe zones."
After the tide receded, the Root Network Sea of Stars was not only "completely intact," but the energy of the miniature River of Light was "tripled." At the gaps in the broken petals, "new petals bearing each other's marks" bloomed—the gaps in the petals of the Angular Nebula bore "runes of Star Orbit," and the gaps in the petals of the Intermittent Shadow were imprinted with "phantom lines," as if saying, "Our imperfections are all engraved with each other's names."
"This is a new realm of imperfect symbiosis!" The transparent tree of the seed and the branches of the Tree of Star Tracks "built a gap bridge" on the River of Light after the flood, and each gap in the bridge "corresponds to a guardian in a certain tide." The Memory Light Stone records each "moment of mutual complementation of gaps" in the tide: it is not "compensating for each other's defects", but "utilizing each other's defects to create new possibilities".
The Boundless Wind, carrying the energy from the breach, swept through the River of Light after the flood, blowing towards "all beings that accept imperfection." Hidden within the wind was "the wisdom of complementing imperfections," "the courage to turn flaws into treasures," and the Root Language inscribed on the converter:
"The new realm of symbiosis is not about making us all perfect, but about allowing our imperfections to become a source of mutual support; it's not about eliminating all gaps, but about making every gap a window for the flow of energy."
Meanwhile, miniature River of Light continued to flow among the fragmented petals, the energy at the gaps "accumulating thicker and thicker." The beings of the Root Network Sea of Stars, in their imperfect symbiosis, found "a harmony more reassuring than perfection"—like the drawing on the last page of the Luoyu's sketchbook: countless beings with gaps holding hands, the River of Light at the gaps "forming a complete ring," the center of the ring being "a Crystal of Original Intention with a gap," yet "brighter" than any complete crystal.
The wind continues to blow, the river continues to flow, the gap continues to shine, and the story of the Root Network Sea of Stars, in its imperfect symbiosis, moves towards a deeper eternity.
