Chaos Symbiosis, the Language of Crystals, and a New Understanding of Balance
The tremors of the Broken Mountains came faster and faster, like the beating heart of the earth. The two newly risen floating islands drew steadily closer through the warped space. Crystals along their edges scraped and collided, throwing off blinding sparks, like two colossal beasts about to tear into each other.
Tang San and Dai Mubai raced through flying rubble and energy fragments along a path woven from Blue Silver Grass and spatial power. The closer they got, the heavier the pressure from the Chaos Marks became. The crystal residue in Tang San's hand was so hot it was almost melting, and the chaos energy inside surged against his palm like boiling magma.
"They're merging faster!" Dai Mubai's Netherworld Thrust carved spatial rifts through the air in an attempt to stop the islands from closing in, but he could barely slow them. "The energy in the spatial funnel is too violent. My power is being drained fast!"
Tang San looked up. The purple-black rocks at the centers of the two islands were already glowing at the same frequency, like two beating hearts. Every pulse made the spatial funnel grow a little larger. The rocks floating inside it were being broken down by chaos energy into the most primordial particles, which the islands absorbed, growing larger and larger.
"This can't go on." Tang San raised the crystal residue before his eyes. The chaos energy inside it resonated strongly with the waves from the islands' cores. "We have to find their resonance frequency to interrupt the fusion."
He closed his eyes and drove the power of the Chaos Azure Lotus to its limit. Following the resonance of the crystal residue, he probed deep into the energy cores of the two islands. Soon, he discovered something strange: although the islands' Chaos Marks came from the same source, their frequencies differed slightly, like two notes close in pitch that could never quite overlap.
"Found it!" Tang San opened his eyes, a flash of understanding in them. "There's a gap in their resonance, like the clearance between the teeth of turning gears! Dai Mubai, use your spatial power to create a shockwave between the islands. Match its frequency to the fluctuations of the crystal residue!"
"Got it!" Dai Mubai did not fully understand the principle, but he trusted Tang San absolutely. He took a deep breath and gathered all the spatial energy in his body onto his claws. The black energy trembled with the rhythm of his breathing, gradually synchronizing with the crystal residue's blue light.
"Now!"
Tang San hurled the crystal residue toward the center of the spatial funnel while activating the power of the Chaos Azure Lotus. The crystal exploded in midair, turning into countless strands of blue energy that wound around the cores of the two islands like precisely tuned strings.
Almost at the same instant, Dai Mubai slashed down fiercely with Netherworld Thrust. A black shockwave spread along the strands of energy and struck precisely into the gap in the islands' resonance!
"Hum-!"
An ear-splitting hum rang through the mountains. The islands' fluctuations fell into disarray in an instant, and the light on the purple-black rocks flickered like a short-circuiting lamp. The spatial funnel contracted violently, and the particles it had drawn in scattered, turning into specks of light that filled the sky.
"It's working!" Xiao Wu cheered from the ground. The Teleportation mark in her hand flickered, ready to provide support at any moment.
But Tang San's expression did not relax. He could feel new fluctuations emerging from the cores of the two islands. This time, their frequency was even stranger, as though they were learning from and imitating each other, trying to close the gap between them.
"They're adapting!" Tang San said grimly. "The Chaos Marks are evolving!"
As soon as he spoke, the islands abruptly changed direction. Instead of colliding head-on, they spiraled around each other. Chaos energy poured from the purple-black rocks and intertwined into a colossal net, locking down the surrounding space. Within the net, countless tiny spatial rifts spread like a spiderweb. Clearly, they meant to wrap around and squeeze each other to force a fusion!
"Lin Ye, attack the net's nodes with Lotus Flame!" Tang San roared. Blue Silver Grass erupted once more, turning into countless spikes that stabbed at the net's weak points. "Tai Long, use your great strength to smash the base of the island on the left! Oscar, give us your strongest defensive boost!"
"Got it!"
Lin Ye's Golden Crow Fire condensed into dozens of fiery spears and shot precisely toward the net's intersections. Flame collided with chaos energy with a sizzle, and the net briefly stalled; Tai Long transformed into a Great Strength Gorilla and smashed both fists, gleaming gold, into the bottom of the left island. It shook violently, and its winding slowed visibly; Oscar's sausages fell like rain, and a pale golden barrier covered everyone, shielding them from the flying fragments of energy.
Tang San seized the chance to rush beneath the giant spatial net. He condensed the power of the Chaos Azure Lotus into a seven-colored longsword, its blade flowing with the gentle light of the Proof of Balance. It was a new move he had created by combining the path of balance with the origin of chaos, intended specifically to harmonize rather than destroy.
"With chaos as the foundation and balance as the blade, unravel!"
The longsword pierced the net, but instead of setting off a violent explosion, it turned into a gentle stream of light that spread along the channels of energy. Wherever the light passed, the violent chaos energy gradually calmed, and the spatial rifts contracted.
The islands wound around each other more and more slowly. The black patterns on the purple-black rocks began to fade, revealing a faint green beneath-the natural color of the mountains' stone.
"Is it being purified?" Dai Mubai stared at the scene in surprise.
"Not purified. Harmonized," Tang San explained. "Chaos energy itself is neither good nor evil; it's simply too violent. I'm using the power of the Chaos Azure Lotus to guide it into fusing with the mountains' earth-vein energy, like cooling boiling water."
As soon as he finished speaking, the purple-black rock on the left island suddenly cracked open, and clear springwater seeped out. When the water met the chaos energy, it was not corroded. Instead, it fused with the energy, turning into a pale purple mist that nourished the surrounding crystals. Emerald-green vines grew from the rocks on the right island, winding around the chaos energy and bearing pale blue flowers.
Everyone was stunned by the sight. The Chaos Marks had not been destroyed. Instead, they had combined with the vitality of the mountains to form an entirely new form of energy.
"This... what's happening?" Xiao Wu murmured.
Tang San put away his longsword and felt the peaceful fluctuations of energy around him. Suddenly, everything became clear. "Li Mo mistakenly treated chaos as a tool of destruction, but forgot that chaos itself is the source of creation. The energy of the Primordial Plane is violent because it contains every possibility. It can destroy, but it can also give rise to new life."
He looked at the pale purple mist and the blue flowers. "These Chaos Marks haven't disappeared. They're living in symbiosis with the mountains' energy. Just as light and darkness can be balanced, chaos and order can coexist too."
As the thought arose, the Chaos Azure Lotus within Tang San gave a soft hum, and its light became purer. The fragments of crystal residue in his hand flew up once more and entered the energy cores of the two islands. This time, they caused no conflict. The fragments fused perfectly with the new form of energy, and the islands began to sink slowly. At last, they merged with the Broken Mountains, forming two small hills covered in exotic flowers and plants, their former fierceness gone.
The tremors of the Broken Mountains ceased completely. A fresh scent filled the air, and chaos energy and earth-vein energy flowed together in harmony, like intertwined rivers.
"We... did it?" Oscar stared at the scene before him in disbelief.
"We did, and we understood something too," Tang San said with a smile. "Balance isn't an either-or choice. It's the symbiosis of different forces. Take these Chaos Marks: rather than laboring to remove them, it's better to guide them into coexisting with the world. That is a higher form of balance."
Lin Ye's Golden Crow Fire gently touched a blue flower. Instead of burning, the flower bloomed even more vividly. "The Golden Crow senses that they're very stable. They're even nourishing the surrounding land. Perhaps... this is the right way to deal with Chaos Marks."
Dai Mubai looked at his Netherworld Thrust, the black patterns on it flickering with a gentle light. "The spatial energy in my body seems to have become more peaceful too."
The sun sank in the west, casting golden light over the Broken Mountains and dyeing the two newly formed hills a warm orange. Tang San stood on the mountaintop, watching the herders in the distance cheer as they returned to their former homes. His heart was filled with a peace he had never known before.
The Chaos Marks Li Mo had left behind had ultimately become a new key to understanding balance. He finally understood that true protection did not mean eliminating everything "different," but finding a way for different forces to coexist in harmony, just as the Chaos Azure Lotus could embrace both light and darkness.
"We should head back," Tang San told his companions. "There's still a lot waiting for us to deal with at the council, and..."
He looked at the crystal residue in his arms, warm and gentle once more. The chaos energy inside it was now completely synchronized with his Chaos Azure Lotus. "This thing seems to have more secrets. We'll need to take our time unraveling them."
Everyone smiled and nodded, then set off in the direction of Heaven Dou City. The wind from the Broken Mountains carried the fragrance of flowers and plants, brushing their retreating figures as though telling a new story of chaos and balance.
Their path of protection was still long, but every step was clearer and more sure. For they knew that the true meaning of balance lay not in flawless order, but in embracing every possible form of symbiosis.
