The Crazed Yu Xiaogang
"Brother, I found out. It's over there."
Tang San nodded and pointed to a room on the first floor.
"That's my little brother. Well done."
Seeing that Tang San had completed the task he had given him perfectly, Han Yu looked approving and reached out to pat Tang San on the shoulder.
Now that they knew where the academic affairs office was, the two set off for it, but a bout of panting came from behind them.
"You... you two, huff... you two... let me see your Martial Soul certificates."
Han Yu turned around to look. Whoa! Wasn't that Grandmaster?
Yu Xiaogang was bent over with both hands braced on his knees, panting. The words he had just spoken had nearly left him unable to catch his breath.
"Who are you?"
Tang San didn't know Grandmaster. Seeing someone blocking him and his brother from registering, he frowned and asked.
Yu Xiaogang took a deep breath and straightened up. Seeing the two Martial Soul certificates in Han Yu's hand, he snatched them away without so much as a greeting.
"Brother, who's this?"
Seeing how rude the man was, Tang San whispered the question in Han Yu's ear.
"I don't know either. Could there be something wrong with his head?"
Han Yu glanced at Tang San and pointed at his temple, likewise speaking in a low voice.
Though the two spoke quietly, how could they hide their words from Yu Xiaogang, whose Soul Power had long since reached rank 29, in this deserted corridor?
But his mind wasn't on what they were saying. Looking at the words "Innate Full Soul Power" in his hand, which seemed to shine with golden light, he was so excited that his hands trembled slightly, and the rims of his eyes turned red in an instant.
"You... which one of you is Han Yu?"
After awakening his Martial Soul, Han Yu had adamantly denied that his surname was Tang, insisting that he took his mother's surname, so Su Yuntao had written the name Han Yu on the certificate.
"Me. What do you want?"
Han Yu took a step forward and frowned at the excited look in Yu Xiaogang's eyes.
Could this old fart have taken a liking to me? Oh, right, I'm the one with Innate Full Soul Power now.
Having figured it out, Han Yu's eyes darted around, and he already had an idea.
Seeing his target and glancing around to find no one else there, Yu Xiaogang coughed twice and put an inscrutable expression on his face.
"Innate Full Soul Power. As expected of the third person with Twin Martial Souls in a century."
Han Yu had yet to react, but Tang San, beside him, was shocked, his eyes filled with uncertainty and doubt.
"Mm-hmm."
Han Yu nodded with utter indifference and reached out to take the Martial Soul certificates from Yu Xiaogang.
"Let's go, Little San."
Calling to Tang San, who was still standing there in a daze, Han Yu led the way into the academic affairs office. Tang San came to his senses, glanced at Yu Xiaogang, and followed Han Yu inside.
In an instant, Yu Xiaogang was left standing there alone. The inscrutable expression on his face cracked slightly, and the light in his eyes gradually faded.
"Th-this isn't right. Shouldn't that child be asking how I knew he had Twin Martial Souls?"
Left standing there alone, Yu Xiaogang couldn't make sense of it.
Inside the academic affairs office.
"Han Yu, is it? Oh? Innate Full Soul Power, too. What a pity, his Martial Soul is a dead branch."
A teacher in his sixties sat behind the desk, looking at Han Yu's Martial Soul certificate in surprise. When he saw the Martial Soul field, he exclaimed at what a pity it was.
The other two, younger teachers reacted the same way. They glanced at Han Yu, then turned back to their own work.
By the time Han Yu and Tang San had finished enrolling and come out with their uniforms in their arms, the two young teachers were still talking.
"Those two children, one with rank eight Innate Soul Power and the other with Innate Full Soul Power. Sigh."
"What a pity. One has a dead branch for a Martial Soul, and the other has Blue Silver Grass. Both are Trash Martial Souls."
"Have you two finished your work? You still have time to chat?"
Scolded by the older teacher, the two young teachers naturally didn't dare talk back. They could only lower their heads and silently go about their work.
After Han Yu came out of the academic affairs office, he saw Grandmaster still standing there, looking as if he were about to shatter.
"Brother, why is he still here?"
Tang San, following close behind, saw him too and quietly asked Han Yu.
Grandmaster naturally noticed the two as well. He coughed twice under his breath and composed his expression before speaking.
"Aren't you curious how I knew you had Twin Martial Souls?"
Han Yu fell silent for a moment, then put on a surprised expression and asked dramatically,
"How did you know I had Twin Martial Souls?"
This time it was Yu Xiaogang's turn to fall silent. How could he fail to see through Han Yu's exaggerated performance?
"Teacher, is there something you need?"
Unlike Han Yu, who knew Yu Xiaogang's background, Tang San was like a curious child. He had only learned about the world of Soul Masters from scraps of conversation with others; what details he knew, he had heard from Old Jack on the way to Nuoding Academy this time.
"Teacher?"
Yu Xiaogang turned to look at Tang San, a wry smile on his face.
"If I remember correctly, your name should be Tang San. How about this? Come with me to my room, and I'll explain Soul Masters to you in detail."
Yu Xiaogang could tell from their clothes that Han Yu and Tang San were commoners. After a moment's thought, he already knew how to hoodwink them: he would show off his learned side under the guise of explaining Soul Masters to them. How could two mere children from a village fail to be taken in by him?
Walking in front, Yu Xiaogang's lips curved into a smile, and his eyes seemed somewhat excited.
Han Yu hadn't wanted to come, but the curiosity in Tang San's eyes drove Tang San to follow. To keep his money-making plan from being affected, Han Yu had no choice but to go along, afraid that Tang San would simply kowtow and take him as his master.
Yu Xiaogang's room wasn't large, only about thirty meters. After entering, Tang San's attention was drawn to the bookshelves packed with all kinds of books.
"Little San is very interested in these books. If you want to read them, you can come and look anytime."
Seeing Tang San's expression, Yu Xiaogang chuckled, then looked at Han Yu.
"Han Yu, you must have a second Martial Soul, and it's very powerful."
At this point, Tang San was like a curious child, leafing through books and constantly asking Yu Xiaogang questions. To take Han Yu as his disciple, Yu Xiaogang had no choice but to patiently explain things to him.
"Teacher, how did you know my brother had Twin Martial Souls?"
Brainless Tang San blurted out those words, drawing the attention of Han Yu and Yu Xiaogang. Yu Xiaogang was overjoyed, though his face wore an expression that said, "Just as I expected."
"He's your brother?"
When Tang San answered yes, Yu Xiaogang stroked his chin.
"I relied on Han Yu's Martial Soul certificate."
For fuck's sake. Han Yu cursed inwardly. If he weren't worried that Tang San would ruin his money-making plan, he really wouldn't want to stay here any longer.
