Nuoding Academy's All-Teacher and Student Assembly
Nuoding City was a small frontier city to begin with, let alone Nuoding Academy, which was located within it. It was merely a junior Soul Master Academy, the kind found in practically every city with a Spirit Hall.
In less than two days, word of Yu Xiaogang's exploits had spread throughout Nuoding Academy. Everywhere in the academy, people could be heard whispering about it.
"Have you heard? That Grandmaster is single because he likes boys. That's why he's always wanted to take on disciples."
"No, no, that's not right. I heard that Grandmaster actually likes that sort of thing. He isn't gay."
"You're all wrong. I have the most accurate information. What Grandmaster actually likes is his Martial Soul. Can't he summon it? That's what he's liked all along."
When Yu Xiaogang and Tang San heard these remarks, they could only lower their heads and hurry away in silence, unable to utter a word in rebuttal.
It wasn't as though they hadn't tried to refute the rumors, but that had only made them grow more outrageous with each retelling. Most people at Nuoding Academy now fell into four groups.
One group believed Yu Xiaogang liked boys.
The second believed Yu Xiaogang didn't like people, but things that showed no signs of life.
The third believed Yu Xiaogang liked his own Martial Soul, that pig-like creature.
The last group believed that what Yu Xiaogang liked most was actually Soul Beasts, especially ape-type Soul Beasts, which he couldn't keep his hands off.
Although Nuoding Academy's dean wanted to hold an assembly of all the teachers and students to tell everyone that the truth was nothing like that, Yu Xiaogang himself had remained silent, so the dean could only drop the idea.
Nuoding City wasn't big to begin with, and this had happened to a lofty Soul Master, so naturally, other people were even fonder of making things up. In just a few days, the story had spread throughout the city. People were even spreading it in cities close to Nuoding City, and some had gone so far as to come to Nuoding City to watch the spectacle.
The way this matter had developed was far beyond everyone's expectations. It was now showing signs of spreading from person to person.
"All right, class is dismissed. But don't move yet. Listen to what I have to say."
Han Yu, Xiao Wu, and Tang San were in a classroom. Today's lessons had been as boring as ever, but even after the dismissal bell rang, the teacher at the front still had something to say.
"I'm sure you've heard the rumors these past few days."
The female teacher braced both hands on the lectern, making her twin peaks sway twice, and addressed the dozens of students below with a serious expression.
"This whole matter is groundless nonsense. Don't follow their example. At yesterday's meeting, the dean told us that after class, every class must go to the playground for an assembly of all teachers and students to explain the matter."
She then reached out, pointed at Han Yu, and said,
"Han Yu, take them downstairs and have them line up in four rows, two for the boys and two for the girls. Assemble on the playground downstairs. I'll wait for you there."
With that, the female teacher slowly walked out of the classroom, her graceful figure swaying as she went.
It wasn't just the students; even the teachers were shipping Yu Xiaogang. More than one person had seen the state Yu Xiaogang had been in at the time, which only fueled their own speculations. Although the dean had said at yesterday's meeting that an assembly of all teachers and students would be held today, the teachers were still discussing it among themselves.
The teachers were older than the students and knew more than they did. Some had even brought stories written in the city into the academy, such as "Yu Xiaogang's Great Battle with the Titan Giant Ape," "The Untold Story of Yu Xiaogang and His Martial Soul," and "The Overbearing Yu Xiaogang and His Delicate Disciple Wife." Their contents were utterly sensational, and they even had illustrations.
These fan works circulated among the teachers, and none of them could put them down. This showed that the literary world of the Douluo Continent was developing at breakneck speed.
Unfortunately, at yesterday's meeting, the dean had said that no one was to bring such masterpieces into the academy again. Anyone caught would be suspended on the spot.
Actually, the dean had called them obscene works, but in the teachers' eyes, they were masterpieces.
The students in the classroom trickled out in ones and twos, went downstairs, and lined up.
Tang San was among them, his head lowered and his face hidden in shadow so no one could see that his cheeks had long since turned ashen.
He had been drooling over that thing that day. Fortunately, Yu Xiaogang had stopped him in time; otherwise, he would now be just like Yu Xiaogang, wearing diapers all day and reeking of shit.
"All right, all right, stand properly. Shorter ones in front, taller ones in the back."
The whole class had arrived at the playground, and Han Yu loudly instructed everyone to stand in four rows. This sort of thing was a piece of cake for him; he had spent more than ten years doing it in his previous life.
By now, the playground was packed with students, a vast, dark mass, with each class forming a group. A lectern stood at the edge of the playground, and Nuoding Academy's dean stood behind it. A dark-skinned fatty sat behind him, though it was unclear who he was. Beside the dark-skinned fatty sat Yu Xiaogang, whose face was just as ashen.
Led by their instructor, Han Yu's class came to their assigned area and stood in place. It would be lunchtime before long, and the sun overhead was blazing.
"Han Yu, it's so hot."
The swarming crowd was packed together, and a fine sheen of sweat had appeared on Xiao Wu's forehead. With her tongue sticking out, she kept using her fair, delicate little hand to fan herself, hoping to cool down a little.
"Here, take this."
Han Yu rolled his eyes, took a fan out of his Soul Tool, and handed it to Xiao Wu. Inwardly, however, he was calculating how to make the Titan Giant Ape and the Sky Azure Bull Python willingly perform Sacrifice. After absorbing the two Soul Bones from the Blue Silver Emperor and the Blue Silver King, he had gained great resistance to such conditions, and there wasn't a bead of sweat on his face.
"Thank you."
Xiao Wu solemnly accepted the fan, seemingly finding it amusing to act that way, and the next moment she laughed at herself.
The crowd on the playground had finished assembling. Nuoding Academy's dean adjusted the microphone, and his voice rang from speakers hidden in corners on every side, echoing continuously across the playground.
"Hello, hello, ahem. Today, we have convened an assembly of all teachers and students. Since its founding, Nuoding Academy has sent forth countless talented Soul Masters, who have also brought the academy many honors."
On the platform, Nuoding Academy's dean passionately introduced the academy to everyone, from its founding all the way to the present, and even its plans for the future.
"You are the future of the Douluo Continent. Every one of you-"
The dean reached out and pointed at everyone standing on the playground, but he was interrupted by a dry cough from the fatty beside him, who wore luxurious clothes.
"Dean of Nuoding Academy, when do you intend to get to the matter at hand?"
The fatty sat on the platform, right where the sunlight reached him, and his head was already covered in sweat. A maid beside him kept wiping it away with a towel.
