Mysterious Revival: Starting by Controlling the Person-Hiding Ghost, Part 44
The Ghost Crow seemed to have a certain ability to act on its own from the start. Now that this Ghost Crow has established a connection with me, perhaps I can control it and have it do things for me.
For example...
At that thought, Jiang Li immediately turned his gaze to the Ghost Crow double beside him and murmured inwardly:
Go follow He Tianxiong for me. Block any vicious ghost's attacks when necessary.
The pitch-black double nodded stiffly, then set off, following silently behind He Tianxiong.
Jiang Li himself took the opportunity to walk farther behind the two of them.
There were still unknown dangers ahead. He might as well take this chance to keep He Tianxiong protected in front of him and let him find his own vicious ghost as soon as possible.
Better a fellow cultivator die than this poor Daoist. Besides, he had sent a double along with him, so surely even if He Tianxiong discovered what he was planning, he would understand from the bottom of his heart.
As they walked, the figures of a man and a woman gradually appeared in a narrow, dim clearing ahead. They were kneeling on the ground, and the woman seemed to be crying with her face in her hands, her shoulders heaving.
They were the amateur cavers Chen Mo and Shen Sheng.
They were still wearing their caving suits. Their headlamp seemed to be broken, giving off little discernible light.
"Huh, those star-crossed lovebirds are still alive? Why is that ghost so inefficient? Does it even know how to do its job?"
As He Tianxiong spoke, he bent down and approached the pair.
"Brother Chen Mo, do you two know where the ghost is right now? If you do, sorry for the trouble, but please tell me. Someone else and I are on our way to find it."
At that, Chen Mo and Shen Sheng looked at each other and fell silent.
"What ghost? Is there something wrong with your head? Where would there be a ghost in here?"
"Our headlamp and phones just broke, and we haven't been able to find a way out. We also found that old monk's corpse along the way."
"He's completely dead now. Most likely, he was killed by that Daoist who came in with us. If your phone still has power, hurry and call the police... And stop shaking that damn broken bell. It's annoying."
As she spoke, Shen Sheng even reached out to snatch the Three Purities Bell from He Tianxiong's hand.
He Tianxiong stepped back several paces, sensing something was wrong.
Before they entered, Master Huijue had solemnly explained the Three Purities Bell's effects and circumstances. Everyone present should have been perfectly clear about them.
But now these two acted as though they knew nothing, and seemed even to have forgotten the information about the ghosts they had been told before.
Suddenly, He Tianxiong felt himself step on something round. It felt very strange, unlike anything that should have been in the cave.
He instinctively bent over and looked down.
Two oval halves lay on the ground, with a small wooden mallet beside them. Looking closely, he saw that it seemed to be Master Huijue's wooden fish, only now it had split in two.
There was a clearly visible small groove in the middle of the two halves, where something smaller seemed to have once been placed.
Before he could react, the Ghost Crow standing beside him reached for Shen Sheng without warning and seized her by the throat.
"What the fuck are you doing?!"
"Let her go!"
Seeing this, Chen Mo was shocked and hurriedly reached out to pull at the Ghost Crow's arm, but the latter immediately kicked him unconscious. His head struck the rock wall behind him, and he went still.

"Why... why are you still forcing me? I didn't do it on purpose!"
The strangled Shen Sheng uttered a string of muffled curses while casting the Ghost Crow a venomous look.
A small, deathly pale ear was clipped to the rim of her ear, pulsing eerily. It was unclear exactly what it was doing.
"Cough, cough... let me go," Shen Sheng forced out through clenched teeth.
Her voice carried a mysterious supernatural power that inexplicably made people want to obey.
The Ghost Crow was clearly affected somewhat, and its grip on her gradually loosened.
Just as Shen Sheng managed to catch her breath and was about to speak again-
The Ghost Crow's mouth suddenly underwent a change, rapidly twisting into a bird's beak.
The moment the beak opened, the densely packed tiny fangs inside were exposed. It then sank them into one of Shen Sheng's ears and tore it off.
Gulp.
After swallowing the ear that had originally been lodged in the wooden fish, the Ghost Crow paid Shen Sheng no further attention and casually tossed her aside.
"Damn, it even eats ears. This guy is even more... you know, than a ghost."
Looking at Chen Mo and Shen Sheng lying unconscious on the ground, He Tianxiong couldn't help swallowing. There was a little more fear in his gaze as he looked beside him again.
Seeing that the terrifying figure beside him seemed to have finished what it was doing, He Tianxiong gave an awkward smile and stepped aside, gesturing for it to go first.
But the Ghost Crow clearly had no intention of responding to He Tianxiong's gesture. It merely returned to stand silently beside him, seemingly waiting for him to continue forward.
They remained silent for a long time, neither moving half a step.
Seeing this, He Tianxiong understood that his plan to slack off had gone completely up in smoke. He could only continue shaking the bell and walk slowly forward in frustration.
After less than a few minutes, another figure appeared ahead, walking so fast that it reached He Tianxiong almost in the blink of an eye, as though it meant to walk straight into him.
It was... another Jiang Li.
Looking at the figure's pitch-black body, He Tianxiong couldn't help feeling a phantom pain in his chest and instinctively backed away.
He really had stirred up a nest of Jiang Lis today. Everywhere he looked, there were ghosts wearing his face.
But after only a few steps back, He Tianxiong felt a powerful shove against his back.
The Ghost Crow behind him reached out to brace his back and said:
"Keep walking. Don't look back."
The voice sounded hoarse and awkward, but its tone held a barely perceptible urgency.
He Tianxiong was pushed forward several steps. Just as he was about to turn and say something, he inadvertently glimpsed a bluish-black foot in the darkness behind him. It wasn't even wearing a shoe.
"..."
"Damn legs, move for me!"
Before the Ghost Crow behind him could urge him on again, He Tianxiong had already scrambled more than ten meters away on all fours.
Suddenly, he felt something else.
It was cold and gave off a delicate fragrance. It didn't seem to be anything frightening.
Then what was it?
He Tianxiong was a little surprised. He leaned closer and felt it again, then followed the cold surface downward with his hand.
This feels like...
A shoe, and a high heel at that.
What's going on?!
The foot wearing the high heel lay limply on the ground, completely motionless. A little farther up was the hem of a qipao.
Liu Qingqing?
That damned woman who humiliated me!
The moment he thought of who the shoe belonged to, He Tianxiong's face filled with disgust. He flung the foot aside and again scrambled away on all fours for some distance.
The Ghost Crow behind him suddenly paused, then looked in Jiang Li's direction.
"I was clearly standing behind He Tianxiong, but after he went forward for a while, I somehow ended up in front of him. Looks like the Ghost Domain is changing the space around us and making a complete mess of things here."
Standing in the darkness, Jiang Li said quietly:
"Ghost Crow, come back."
The Ghost Crow then assumed the form of a crow again, flew back to Jiang Li's shoulder, and raised its head.
"Caw-"
After the hoarse cry, the surrounding darkness began to recede once more, and the things hidden within it gradually emerged.
Along with it came a violent headache, stabbing like needles.
Jiang Li pressed one hand hard against his head, but his eyes remained fixed on a certain direction ahead.
There were two Ghost Crows scattered outside, one on either side of Liu Qingqing, holding her up while wearing his appearance.
Liu Qingqing's eyes were closed. She seemed to have fallen unconscious for some reason, and her entire body was motionless.
The two Ghost Crows simply held Liu Qingqing up in silence, ignoring Jiang Li's arrival as though they didn't care in the least that he had appeared.
Jiang Li forcibly suppressed the effects of the headache and was just about to make a move against the two Ghost Crows.
But an icy sensation, both strange and familiar, suddenly came from behind him.
As the Person-Hiding Ghost on his shoulder abruptly opened its chilling, white-filmed eyes, Jiang Li vanished from where he stood.
Only then did the Ghost Crow concealed behind him reveal itself, its outstretched pitch-black hand grasping empty air.
With the attack interrupted, the Person-Hiding Ghost on this Ghost Crow's shoulder slowly closed its eyes, as though entering dormancy.
The Ghost Crow likewise seemed not to care much about what had happened. It simply walked quickly toward the other two Ghost Crows.
Behind it, a hunched, deformed figure followed at a slow pace, dragging a shriveled ankle in its hand.
The corpse that had originally been stuck upside down in the cave now had its eyes open. It seemed to serve as a link, both hands gripping the feet of the next vicious ghost tightly.
The vicious ghost being held pulled on the ankles of the next ghost in the same way, forming a chilling centipede of vicious ghosts.
The centipede of vicious ghosts was extraordinarily long. Its tail extended beyond the limits of sight, with no end in view.
The vast majority of these vicious ghosts came from the cave. They had remained dormant for some unknown reason, but now, without exception, every one of them had its eyes open.
Venomous, numb, deathly still, hollow, and even vacant.
Although most of their expressions differed, the auras they gave off were all extremely cold and terrifying.
Any one of these beings, taken out and placed in the outside world, could cause an extremely troublesome supernatural incident. Yet now, all of them were gathered in the hands of a single vicious ghost.
This wasn't as utterly unreasonable as the stacking of supernatural powers, which increased their intensity by geometric multiples, but it could likewise concentrate the killing rules of all the vicious ghosts being dragged into the Corpse-Dragging Ghost alone.
Covered in rules that meant certain death, it would trigger more than one rule even if someone merely stood still.
But this ghost seemed to have a certain awareness of its own, or perhaps an instinct to complete itself.
That instinct drove it to keep searching for and attacking other vicious ghosts to use for its own purposes. To that end, it even temporarily ignored living people who triggered a small number of its rules, pursuing other vicious ghosts and attacking them along the way.
At that moment.
The Corpse-Dragging Ghost raised its utterly murky eyes and glanced at He Tianxiong, who was still crawling away, then looked at Liu Qingqing, who had been laid on the ground not far away.
After a moment's hesitation, the Corpse-Dragging Ghost seemed to make a choice. It then used its enormous, deformed hand to drag the countless vicious ghosts behind it as it walked slowly toward Liu Qingqing.
Seeing the Corpse-Dragging Ghost approach, the Ghost Crow that had lured it over stayed no longer. It prepared to withdraw with the other two Ghost Crows to a safe distance and wait for the Corpse-Dragging Ghost to react with the supernatural power on Liu Qingqing.
But the next moment, a deathly pale hand reached up from the ground and grabbed it, preventing it from moving.
"Looks like you forgot about me as a factor, or perhaps you never cared about my existence at all?"
Jiang Li's figure gradually emerged. He gripped the Ghost Crow by the throat with one hand and spoke quietly, his face utterly cold.
