Arc 2The Wu-Zhou Alliance

Qi Zhou survived Meteor City’s gangs and poison while joining forces with A-Wu to gain influence and pursue a cure. After building an alliance with Wennide and learning more about Nen, Qi Zhou accompanied A-Wu as he infiltrated the elders’ manor to confront his brother and investigate the Stock Solution.

  • Qi Zhou learned Meteor City’s districts and escape options from a child, then traveled to District Twelve, created clean water, and fought off gunmen before arranging a water-for-food trade with A-Wu.
  • After killing Kelirui, Qi Zhou targeted White Eagle Society president Suoerzite, but Suoerzite’s Nen poisoned him with the addictive Stock Solution.
  • A-Wu taught Qi Zhou how to use Nen and proposed targeting the White Eagle Society, and the two formed the Wu-Zhou Alliance after A-Wu killed a man who had come to confront him.
  • Qi Zhou helped Wennide rise within the White Eagle Society, using his Nen to subdue rival bosses and defeating Vincent during a clash at the gang’s hidden base.
  • Weisite taught Qi Zhou and A-Wu the principles and categories of Nen, while Qi Zhou discovered that Noah’s Song of the Four Seasons ability used Transmutation to produce rock and wind.
  • A stranger attacked Qi Zhou and A-Wu at the clock tower, questioned Qi Zhou about the Phantom Troupe and Suoerzite, then released them after hearing Qi Zhou’s answers.
  • A-Wu revealed that the East District elder had given Suoerzite the Stock Solution and planned to confront his brother at the council of elders, while Qi Zhou insisted on going with him.
  • Qi Zhou infiltrated the elders’ manor disguised as a waiter, surveyed the guards on the first and third floors, and waited near Kadis Eros’s rooms for A-Wu.
Chapters 26–50 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 26The Law of Survival X and X the So-Called "Meteor City"

Qi Zhou learned about Meteor City’s districts, scarce food and water, and the ways to leave from a child scavenger. After thanking the child and walking away, Qi Zhou left him watching with a sharpened gaze.

  • The child led Qi Zhou behind a dirt mound and identified their location as District Five of Meteor City.
  • The child drew a map and explained the city’s regions, the dangerous outer districts, and the Council of Elders’ control.
  • Qi Zhou gave the child a compressed biscuit and returned his knife, then asked how he could leave Meteor City.
  • The child explained that Qi Zhou needed an ID card to function outside, could seek a hundred wins at the T Arena, or could go to the church.
  • The child told Qi Zhou that drinking water could be traded for in Beierhan and that District Twelve’s river was contaminated by chemical waste.
  • Qi Zhou thanked the child and walked away, while the child watched him with a sharpened gaze.

Ch. 27The law of survival X and X the so-called "water source"

Qi Zhou traveled to District Twelve to find water and test whether he could create it with Nen, but a gunshot interrupted him just after he drank the fresh water he produced. The chapter left him lying on the ground after narrowly dodging a bullet.

  • Qi Zhou ate his second expired compressed biscuit and decided to head south toward District Twelve to look for water and verify what the boy had told him.
  • Qi Zhou reached District Twelve and crossed into its polluted containment zone after protecting himself with Ten and a biscuit wrapper.
  • Qi Zhou found the nearly dried, blackened river and used his Nen Ability to gather clear water from the faint water vapor.
  • Qi Zhou drank the water he had created, then dropped to the ground as a gunshot rang out and a bullet grazed his cheek.

Ch. 28The Law of Survival X and X the So-Called "Turnaround"

Qi Zhou survived an ambush in Meteor City, then arranged a water-for-food trade with A-Wu as he worked to secure the necessities for survival. A suited man killed the two fleeing attackers, while Qi Zhou returned to District Nine hopeful that he could survive long enough to leave the bet behind.

  • Qi Zhou used Gyo to spot four attackers, knocked one unconscious, dodged a bullet, and blinded the gunman with a water arrow before the remaining two fled.
  • A suited man found the two fleeing attackers near the border between District Twelve and District Eight and killed them.
  • Qi Zhou walked through the night while practicing Water Condensation and planning how to find food and escape Meteor City.
  • A-Wu warned Qi Zhou that water was controlled by a small number of people, then agreed to trade food for Qi Zhou’s water.
  • Qi Zhou introduced himself to A-Wu and headed deeper into the garbage mountain, encouraged by the prospect of surviving for half a year.

Ch. 29The Law of Survival X and X the So-Called "Deal"

Qi Zhou experimented with Nen and learned that entering a closed-off state helped him recover after exhausting himself. After A-Wu warned him that Kerien’s group was searching for him, Qi Zhou suspended their deal and returned to the garbage mountain in District Nine to keep training.

  • Qi Zhou practiced drawing in his Nen and releasing it in a burst, blasting apart the peak of a garbage mound.
  • Qi Zhou discovered that staying closed off while exhausted helped him recover his Nen and physical strength faster.
  • A-Wu told Qi Zhou that people had been looking for a white-haired, blue-eyed child and connected him to Kerien’s missing men.
  • A-Wu advised Qi Zhou to run because the hall master might retaliate, and Qi Zhou agreed to pause their deal until it was safe.
  • Qi Zhou returned to the garbage mountain in District Nine and resumed training while reflecting on the deaths linked to Kerien’s group.

Ch. 30The Law of Survival X and X So-Called "Art"

Qi Zhou used a trap to kill the Nen user who tracked him to his hiding place. After confirming the man was dead, Qi Zhou wondered why killing someone had left him feeling neither disgusted nor upset.

  • A Nen user attacked Qi Zhou and said he had killed Old Ghost and the others.
  • Qi Zhou failed to hurt the faster, more experienced man with his Nen attacks and fled while setting garbage heaps ablaze.
  • Qi Zhou tricked the pursuer into grabbing a Nen-coated plank and landing on a garbage heap rigged with a methane-filled container.
  • Qi Zhou ignited the container, blasting the garbage heap apart and killing the man.
  • Qi Zhou checked the corpse and found no sign of Ten, then reflected that he felt no disgust or sorrow about killing him.

Ch. 31The law of survival X and X so-called "self-preservation"

After killing a man who attacked him, Qi Zhou decided to leave Meteor City rather than keep playing the survival game. When A-Wu revealed the dead man’s identity and offered intelligence in exchange for help learning Qi Zhou’s ability, Qi Zhou agreed to target the White Eagle Society’s president, though he could not promise to succeed.

  • Qi Zhou reflected on killing the stranger, rested while maintaining his Nen, and decided to seek a way out of Meteor City after his next trade with A-Wu.
  • A-Wu identified the dead man as Kelirui, a hall master of the White Eagle Society and an enforcer who monitored smaller gangs for the elders.
  • A-Wu said Kelirui’s death would reach the elders and suggested Qi Zhou either flee Meteor City or kill the White Eagle Society president, Suoerzite.
  • A-Wu offered intelligence in exchange for Qi Zhou helping him learn Qi Zhou’s ability.
  • Qi Zhou struggled with his willingness to kill in order to survive, then agreed to target Suoerzite after handling the immediate situation, while warning he might fail.

Ch. 32Driven by Circumstances X and X Left with No Choice

Qi Zhou infiltrated Suoerzite’s residence to poison him, but discovered the bartender mixing a blood-red drink. The chapter ended with Qi Zhou realizing the drink contained blood.

  • Qi Zhou entered District One and headed for Suoerzite’s home, using A-Wu’s information about the president’s routine and security.
  • Qi Zhou worried about the limits of his Nen knowledge, then suppressed his Nen and slipped past the guards into the residence.
  • Qi Zhou entered through an open second-floor window and followed the sound of glassware to a cocktail room.
  • Qi Zhou watched the bartender mix a drink with crimson liquid from a small bottle and recognized the smell of fresh blood.

Ch. 33Wine X and X Poison

Qi Zhou poisoned Suoerzite and killed him, but Suoerzite’s posthumous Nen ability trapped Qi Zhou in a euphoric vision and left him suffering a severe bodily reaction. When guards reached the bedroom, Qi Zhou had vanished, slowly walking through District One beneath the night sky.

  • Qi Zhou slipped a tablet into Suoerzite’s blood-red drink and followed the bartender to the bedroom.
  • After Suoerzite collapsed, Qi Zhou knocked out two maids and entered the room.
  • Suoerzite recognized Qi Zhou as Kelirui’s killer and unleashed his Nen ability, Poison Wine’s Land of Tenderness, as Qi Zhou cut his throat.
  • Qi Zhou fought through Suoerzite’s Nen, but a pale red mist enveloped him and induced an overwhelming euphoric vision.
  • Qi Zhou experienced intense cravings and pain, then guards entered the bedroom and found Suoerzite dead.
  • Qi Zhou appeared on a District One street, walking slowly with silver-blue eyes.

Ch. 34Escape X and X "Stock Solution"

After surviving Suoerzite’s attack, Qi Zhou discovered that Noah had taken control of his body and brought him back to District Five. He met A-Wu to learn about the Stock Solution poisoning his arm, but A-Wu said information about its source would require another deal.

  • Qi Zhou woke after Noah used his body to escape and return to District Five, and wondered what Noah had endured.
  • Qi Zhou examined the red line on his arm and realized Suoerzite’s Nen Ability had poisoned him.
  • Qi Zhou met A-Wu, who confirmed the mark came from the Stock Solution and explained Suoerzite had modified and sold it.
  • A-Wu said the Stock Solution was addictive and that he had never seen anyone survive with a mark extending as far as Qi Zhou’s forearm.
  • Qi Zhou asked where the Stock Solution came from, but A-Wu made the information a new deal and reminded him their previous deal remained unfinished.

Ch. 35A-Wu X and X Awakening

Qi Zhou explained Nen to A-Wu and reluctantly used Nen pressure to awaken his Aura. A-Wu learned to control the Aura as Ten, then thanked Qi Zhou and said he owed him a favor.

  • Qi Zhou described Nen as controlling the Aura that constantly flowed out of the body, while admitting he knew little about how to develop an ability.
  • A-Wu asked Qi Zhou to attack him with Nen so he could experience it, and Qi Zhou warned that the pressure could kill him.
  • Qi Zhou intensified his Nen pressure until A-Wu's pale-gold Aura burst out of his body.
  • A-Wu redirected his uncontrolled Aura through his body and, following Qi Zhou's guidance, formed Ten around himself.
  • A-Wu thanked Qi Zhou and reluctantly said he owed him a favor.

Ch. 36Laying the cards on the table X and X an alliance

A-Wu explained that finding the inhibitor meant investigating the families on Spicy Fragrance Mountain and suggested starting with the White Eagle Society. After A-Wu killed a man who came to threaten him, Qi Zhou confronted him about being manipulated, then agreed to join forces with him.

  • A-Wu told Qi Zhou about Spicy Fragrance Mountain, the families profiting from Spice Stone, and the difficulties of finding the inhibitor there.
  • A-Wu suggested investigating the White Eagle Society and explained how Meteor City’s rulers traded fighters for arms and heavy metals.
  • Qi Zhou and A-Wu sensed someone approaching, and Qi Zhou hid while a man confronted A-Wu in the tent.
  • A-Wu stabbed the man through the heart and killed him before he could leave.
  • Qi Zhou pieced together how A-Wu had watched and guided him, then agreed to partner with him; they shook hands and formed the Wu-Zhou Alliance.

Ch. 37White Eagle Society X Infiltration X Plan

Qi Zhou and A-Wu planned to infiltrate the White Eagle Society and find a suppressant for Qi Zhou’s poison, which gave him roughly three months. After A-Wu urged him to use Wennide to gain influence, Qi Zhou refused to kill anyone who had not attacked him, and set out to approach Wennide on different terms.

  • A-Wu told Qi Zhou they would target the White Eagle Society and suggested tracking the timing of his poison episodes; he also revealed his full name was Wu Eros.
  • They moved to Qi Zhou’s garbage nest, where A-Wu observed Qi Zhou endure a poison episode lasting a little over three hours and estimated he had about three months to find a suppressant.
  • A-Wu explained that the White Eagle Society was vulnerable after losing its president, hall master, and two strongest Nen users, and told Qi Zhou to find the ambitious boss Wennide.
  • A-Wu proposed that Qi Zhou use Kerien’s weakness to recruit Wennide and, if necessary, kill him, but Qi Zhou refused to kill someone who had not provoked him.
  • A-Wu advised Qi Zhou to persuade Wennide by showing his Nen ability and promising to help him rise in the society; Qi Zhou left to find Wennide and agreed to return before midnight.

Ch. 38Wennide X Division Head X Vice President

Qi Zhou infiltrated the White Eagle Society headquarters and watched the vice president appoint Wennide as acting division head while maneuvering against the other division heads. After Wennide learned that Kerien’s men were dead, Qi Zhou offered to help him secure his position, and Wennide decided to act.

  • Qi Zhou slipped into the White Eagle Society headquarters and overheard its leaders arguing over Kelirui’s absence and territory.
  • The vice president appointed Wennide acting division head and ordered him to hold the line in the eastern district, while announcing that he would handle dealings with the Bancro Family.
  • Qi Zhou memorized the name Bancro and followed Wennide out of the hall.
  • Wennide cursed the vice president’s decision in an alley, then stopped when Qi Zhou confronted him.
  • Qi Zhou told Wennide that Kerien’s men were dead and urged him to deal with Kerien first.
  • Wennide recognized Qi Zhou as a potentially powerful ally and decided to suppress his rivals and secure his position.

Ch. 39The Fake "Hall Master" X and X the Real "Hall Master"

Qi Zhou pressured Wennide into pursuing the hall master position and helped him subdue the rival bosses in Meteor City. After Kerien killed himself, Wennide’s new allies gathered under the fearsome force of Qi Zhou, leaving them waiting obediently until sunset.

  • Qi Zhou demanded unlimited free Stock Solution from Wennide and told him to prove he could become hall master by dealing with Kerien.
  • Wennide went to Kerien’s hideout, where he found his wounded rival had stabbed himself rather than fall into his hands; Qi Zhou appeared and ordered Wennide to bury him.
  • Qi Zhou offered to help Wennide deal with disobedient subordinates, and Wennide agreed to work with him under the name Noah.
  • Wennide summoned the minor bosses and their men, but they openly challenged him and arrived with his messengers beaten.
  • Qi Zhou unleashed crushing pressure on the gathered bosses, forcing them into silence while Wennide asserted his authority and made them wait for the remaining people.

Ch. 40A-Wu X Identity X Revenge Plan

Wennide took control of the bosses and planned to head to the East District, while Qi Zhou learned that A-Wu was Kadis Eros’s younger half-brother and uncovered the danger behind his return. A-Wu revealed that his brother would send killers after him, leaving Qi Zhou and A-Wu to face the threat together.

  • Wennide ordered the bosses to accompany him to the East District and asked Qi Zhou to join them.
  • Wennide explained that Kadis Eros was the West District elder, prompting Qi Zhou to realize A-Wu was maneuvering to return to the East District.
  • Qi Zhou returned to the trash mountain and asked A-Wu whether his real goal was to reach the East District.
  • A-Wu admitted that Kadis Eros was his older half-brother and said he had killed three people who had been watching him.
  • A-Wu explained that Kadis Eros would send people to kill him if he resisted, and that he had escaped the T Arena despite being a ten-year-old without Nen.
  • Qi Zhou offered to make do together with A-Wu, then gave him water as A-Wu soaked his bloodied shirt.

Ch. 41Plan one X gangs X starting with the White Eagle Society

A-Wu and Qi Zhou planned to take over the White Eagle Society and use it to reach Chelsea Taber, while A-Wu explained his situation and his guards to Qi Zhou. At Wennide’s base, Bayer tried to seize Wennide’s men, and Qi Zhou stepped in as Bayer swung at him.

  • A-Wu told Qi Zhou they would make Wennide president of the White Eagle Society and use the gang to get close to Chelsea Taber; he also said he planned to kill his brother at the council of elders.
  • A-Wu explained that his brother and the western district’s elder made it dangerous to use Nen openly, and that his father’s former butler had sent two men to watch him under the guise of protecting him.
  • A-Wu and Qi Zhou headed to Wennide’s base, where Bayer demanded that Wennide lend him men for the fighting zone.
  • Wennide agreed on the condition that Bayer win over his men, while Qi Zhou entered the courtyard and drew Bayer’s attention.
  • Bayer accused Wennide of mocking him, then charged at Qi Zhou and raised his fist to strike.

Ch. 42Plan Two X Base X Invisible Enemy

Qi Zhou and Wennide reached the White Eagle Society’s abandoned base in District Seven, where an unseen enemy ambushed their group. Qi Zhou agreed to confront the attacker to keep Wennide alive and protect their plans, then entered an empty basement.

  • Qi Zhou overpowered Bayer, and Wennide took Bayer’s men along to investigate the White Eagle Society’s base.
  • The group found the base entrance beneath a ruin, and Bayer sent a subordinate down before leading the way inside.
  • Wennide explained that Kelirui had disappeared and suspected Vincent might have seized the base while fighting for control of the area.
  • Qi Zhou sensed malice in the tunnel and pulled Wennide behind a corner as gunfire killed the scouts ahead of them.
  • An unseen attacker called for Qi Zhou to come out, and Qi Zhou agreed to face him rather than leave Wennide to die.
  • Qi Zhou entered the basement and found it completely empty.

Ch. 43Plan Three X Vincent X Battle

Qi Zhou fought Vincent, whose Nen ability replaced what people saw with illusions, and defeated him by expanding his Ten to sense the real attack. He killed Vincent and discovered Bayer’s subordinate was dead while Bayer lay wounded and possibly alive.

  • Qi Zhou entered the basement and was shot at by an unseen attacker, then realized his perception was being altered rather than the attacker simply being invisible.
  • Vincent used illusory attacks to confuse Qi Zhou and nearly struck him with a real blade.
  • Qi Zhou closed his eyes and expanded his Ten, sensing Vincent’s aura and distinguishing the real attack from an illusion.
  • Qi Zhou struck Vincent with a Nen-fire punch, gravely wounding him and revealing him as the red-haired attacker.
  • Qi Zhou saw that Bayer’s subordinate had been killed and Bayer had been shot in the shoulder, then cut Vincent’s throat and washed the blood from his fingers.

Ch. 44Plan Three X Catch-up Lesson X Four Major Principles

After Qi Zhou killed Vincent, he helped Wennide return to his base, then met A-Wu and Weisite for a lesson on Nen. Weisite explained the four major principles, leaving Qi Zhou and A-Wu eager to learn Nen Abilities.

  • Qi Zhou checked Bayer, and Wennide removed the bullet from his shoulder and bound the wound before returning to his base with Qi Zhou.
  • After making sure Wennide was safe, Qi Zhou went back to the garbage den and practiced Ten while waiting for A-Wu.
  • A-Wu returned with a repaired cell phone and took Qi Zhou to meet Weisite for a Nen lesson.
  • Weisite explained that Nen was the manipulation of aura and described how people in Meteor City often learned it by surviving a Nen attack.
  • Weisite taught them the four major principles: Ten, Zetsu, Ren, and Hatsu, and Qi Zhou and A-Wu became eager to discover their Nen Abilities.

Ch. 45Plan Four X New World X Nen Categories

Weisite explained the six Nen categories and how to identify them with Water Divination. Qi Zhou and A-Wu both tried the test but saw no changes, leaving them to wonder if they were Specialists as they continued training.

  • Weisite explained the six Nen categories, their properties, and why Nen users benefited from developing abilities suited to their own category.
  • Qi Zhou recalled being controlled by a Manipulation Nen user, and A-Wu urged him to get revenge someday.
  • Weisite taught Qi Zhou and A-Wu the Water Divination Nen Testing Method and admitted he knew little about advanced Nen techniques.
  • A-Wu found a glass IV bottle, and he and Qi Zhou tested their Nen, but neither caused any change in the water or floating foam.
  • Qi Zhou and A-Wu threw the bottle away and trained through the night, considering that they might both be Specialists.

Ch. 46Plan Five X Training X The Four Seasons and the Elements

Qi Zhou helped A-Wu arrange a meeting with Wennide, then focused on training while A-Wu expanded his faction in the White Eagle Society. Qi Zhou discovered that Noah’s Nen let him develop rock and wind abilities, but he remained dissatisfied with their damage and continued training.

  • A-Wu told Qi Zhou he planned to free his surviving allies by having them declared killed in battle, and Qi Zhou agreed to take him to meet Wennide.
  • Qi Zhou and A-Wu reasoned that Wennide could support the vice president’s succession without creating a threat, then went to see him.
  • Over the next ten days, Wennide secured his position and grew his influence, while A-Wu used his forces to capture eastern district strongholds and bring allies to the western district.
  • Qi Zhou tested Noah’s Nen with Water Divination and confirmed that its type was Transmutation, then theorized that it could produce the rock and wind elements of his Song of the Four Seasons ability.
  • Qi Zhou used rock to sense movement and create spikes and mud, and wind to wound a giant rat, but judged the attacks too weak and returned to training.

Ch. 47Plan Six X A-Wu X The Mysterious Call

Qi Zhou received a threatening call from a dangerous stranger who had captured A-Wu and demanded that he come to the tallest building in District Five. Unable to reach the clock tower through the poison’s pain, Qi Zhou called on Noah for help and arrived to confront the stranger, sensing A-Wu nearby but barely able to maintain Ten.

  • Qi Zhou’s poison flared up as he waited for A-Wu, who had not returned.
  • A stranger called on A-Wu’s phone, threatened to kill him, and ordered Qi Zhou to meet at District Five’s tallest building.
  • Unable to move fast enough through the pain, Qi Zhou called Noah for help.
  • Noah crossed the garbage mountains and reached the ruined clock tower within the allotted time, after which Qi Zhou woke up.
  • A heavily made-up young man appeared before Qi Zhou and mocked him, while Qi Zhou sensed A-Wu’s faint Ten beneath another corner of the clock tower.

Ch. 48Plan Seven X Magician X One-Sided Promise

Qi Zhou faced a powerful stranger who believed he was the Phantom Troupe’s number eight and tested him in battle. The stranger let Qi Zhou and A-Wu go, but promised to find Qi Zhou again.

  • The stranger attacked Qi Zhou with a playing card, and Qi Zhou narrowly dodged while denying that he belonged to the Troupe.
  • Qi Zhou’s surprise punch rebounded, and the stranger pulled him back with a cord and slammed him into the ground.
  • Qi Zhou used rock spikes and Nen fire to create an opening, then escaped through the fog to reach the unconscious A-Wu.
  • The stranger caught Qi Zhou with a card at his neck, questioned him about Chrollo and Suoerzite, and accepted his answers.
  • The stranger released Qi Zhou and A-Wu, then said he would remember Qi Zhou’s name and return to find him.

Ch. 49Plans, Part Eight X Council of Elders X The Eve

After escaping a dangerous encounter with a Phantom Troupe member, Qi Zhou tended to A-Wu and learned more about the Troupe and the elder’s role in the Stock Solution. A-Wu warned Qi Zhou to stay out of the upcoming council, but Qi Zhou insisted on joining him in his risky plan.

  • Qi Zhou returned to their garbage nest with the unconscious A-Wu, reset his dislocated arms, and endured A-Wu’s anger for rushing to rescue him.
  • A-Wu explained that the man who attacked them had asked whether he was a Spider, and told Qi Zhou that the Phantom Troupe’s members were known as Spiders because of their numbered spider tattoos.
  • A-Wu warned Qi Zhou to conceal his ties to the Phantom Troupe, since the wanted members’ enemies might target him instead.
  • A-Wu revealed that the East District elder had given the Stock Solution to Suoerzite and advised Qi Zhou to approach the elder if he wanted to infiltrate the Bancro Family.
  • A-Wu outlined his plan to attend the council of elders and confront his brother afterward, warning that failure could endanger everyone connected to him.
  • Qi Zhou refused to stay behind and said he would accompany A-Wu, confident they would succeed; A-Wu stopped arguing with him.

Ch. 50Plan Nine X and X the Opening

Qi Zhou infiltrated the central manor in Meteor City by posing as a waiter and mapped the guards and rooms on the first floor. After scouting the third floor, he found Kadis Eros’s west area heavily guarded and left to wait for A-Wu.

  • Qi Zhou slipped into the manor beneath a car from District Five and signaled A-Wu that he had infiltrated successfully.
  • Qi Zhou hid in the food preparation room, knocked out a waiter, and disguised himself in the man's clothes.
  • Qi Zhou joined the wait staff and helped serve food while learning the first-floor guard positions; A-Wu signaled that they would meet within two hours.
  • At noon, Qi Zhou volunteered to deliver food upstairs and surveyed the third floor, which was divided among the four elders' territories.
  • Qi Zhou approached Kadis Eros’s guarded rooms, identified two Nen users among the guards, memorized their positions, and headed for the stairs to wait for A-Wu.
