Meeting Luomiu on the Road
More than three hundred years had passed in the blink of an eye since Rog and Dimont completed their Fiend assessment mission and officially became One-Star Fiends.
During those three hundred years, the two often took combat missions. As a result, they quickly rose from One-Star Fiends to Five-Star Fiends. Since the soul auras they revealed were only at the Midgod level, they had made something of a name for themselves around Golden Feather City. Dimont in particular, whose fighting style was full of violent artistry, had killed mission targets with the strength of Five-Star Fiends with a single punch on multiple occasions. A number of spectators had given him the title of "Exploding Fist Fiend."
Dimont had earned the title because he had blown his enemies apart with a single punch every time. In the end, though, he was only a Five-Star Fiend. Even around Golden Feather City, not everyone agreed that he deserved a title, to say nothing of the Fiends in other parts of the Infernal Realm.
It was worth mentioning that Dimont and the beautiful green-haired elf named Mina really had become a couple. However, she was an elf, a race that had difficulty bearing children, while he was an exceedingly rare Super Divine Beast, a Six-Armed Demon Ape. Thus, although they had been together for three hundred years, they had yet to have a child.
Although I've made considerable progress over these three hundred years, the increase in my overall strength has been very limited. By now, he had gained insight into a fifth profound mystery of the Laws of Lightning, but neither his fourth, Electromagnetic Space, nor the Lightning Body Technique he had comprehended later had found their points of compatibility with all of the first three.
Fusing four profound mysteries is simply too difficult. I originally intended to fuse the more difficult Electromagnetic Space first, but now it seems that even for me, fusing four profound mysteries isn't so easy. There could be a great disparity in strength even among those who had fused four profound mysteries, because the mysteries themselves varied in rank.
Of the three profound mysteries Rog had already fused, the Elemental Laws of Lightning were undoubtedly a low-level profound mystery, while Lightning Speed and the Judgment Profound Mystery were both high-level profound mysteries. Even compared with others who had fused three profound mysteries, his fusion was naturally somewhat stronger. He had originally intended to fuse the mid-level profound mystery Electromagnetic Space first, but now it seemed that even fusing the low-level Lightning Body Technique first would not be so easy.
Although he had made little progress with the Laws of Lightning, Rog had made considerable progress with the Death Rule, enough to catch up with his progress in the Laws of Lightning.
The Star Mist Sea.
This Metallic Lifeform resembled a black panther. Its owner, Aosunika, thought happily, Once I take this shipment of Moonspirit Wine from the Mua Continent to sell on the Blood Peak Continent, I'll make a profit equal to its cost right away! If this deal succeeds, I won't have to come out again for thousands of years.
At that thought, he respectfully addressed the two Midgod Fiends sitting ahead of him in the metal cabin. "Mr. Rog, Mr. Dimont, I'll be counting on you both for the rest of the journey."
There were clearly five or six Highgod Fiends in the Metallic Lifeform as well, yet none of them objected to their employer placing such importance on two Midgod Fiends. It was admittedly a little strange.
Dimont nodded, his expression cold.
This Dimont was extremely powerful! Although he was a Midgod, Golden Feather City acknowledged him as having the strength of a Six-Star Fiend.
A merchant of his standing could normally only afford to hire Five-Star Fiends. To his surprise and delight, although Dimont held the rank of Five-Star Fiend, he was much stronger. Along the way, he had easily dealt with several groups of bandits that included Highgods.
"If only I could meet an expert like Lord Dimont every time," Aosunika could not help but sigh. A Six-Star Fiend! Hiring one cost at least a billion Inkstones. How could he afford that?
In the Fiend profession, low-ranking Fiends were cheap to hire. An ordinary Highgod Four-Star Fiend generally cost between ten and fifty million Inkstones to hire,
while a Five-Star Fiend's fee started at fifty million and capped at a billion. As for a Six-Star Fiend, the payment was at least a billion Inkstones per mission, capped at ten billion. The legendary Seven-Star Fiends were said to charge at least ten billion per mission, with no upper limit. Once Fiends reached the Seven-Star level, they generally no longer accepted missions readily. At that point, they were more than capable of establishing their own clans outside the cities.
Just then, another group of bandits appeared, their divine senses sweeping over the Metallic Lifeform.
The Highgod Fiends inside frowned, and several immediately stood, ready to leave the Metallic Lifeform and drive the bandits away. Although Dimont was the strongest among them, he had previously operated around Golden Feather City for a long time, and the bandits of the Star Mist Sea did not know how formidable he was. Thus, when ordinary bandit groups appeared, the others would go out and drive them off. If anyone truly stubborn showed up, Dimont, that great killer, would naturally be there to teach them a lesson.
This time, however, before they could leave the Metallic Lifeform, the bandit force, which had more than ten Highgods, scattered in an instant.
Rog grew thoughtful. The bandits clearly were not afraid of him and Dimont; another expert must have been passing by. Rog swept the surroundings with his divine sense and soon discovered a Metallic Lifeform marked with lightning patterns.
Hm? Only two people?
Rog could sense only a man and a woman inside the Metallic Lifeform. Both were Highgods, but he immediately detected an astonishing aura from the man, the sort that could only be cultivated through countless killings.
The man was lean, and even while seated, his upper body was as straight as a spear shaft. His ink-black hair reached his hips. More noticeably, even while sitting, he had a saber strapped to his back.
Suddenly,
the Metallic Lifeform came to a halt, and a divine sense message rang out in the minds of the more than twenty people inside the golden lifeform. "May I ask if you are also headed to the Blood Peak Continent?"
The route they were taking was indeed the most direct one to the Blood Peak Continent, so it was no wonder the woman asked.
Seeing that they were not bandits, Aosunika smiled and sent back, "Are you two headed to the Blood Peak Continent as well? It's still a long way from here, at least a hundred million li. Why don't you travel with us? If we stay together, we'll be better able to deal with any danger."
"Then thank you, sir." The woman's voice was very pleasant. She turned back with a smile. "Mr. Luomiu, they've agreed to take us along."
Luomiu? Rog's pupils contracted as something suddenly occurred to him.
Aosunika was delighted. He was a shrewd man himself. For two people to dare cross the Star Mist Sea alone, one of them had to be an expert. Perhaps one was even a Six-Star Fiend. His return journey was becoming safer and safer. If only he had this kind of luck on every trading trip.
"Luomiu?"
The other Fiends also looked puzzled. Several frowned and stared at the blue Metallic Lifeform bearing the lightning mark, trying to remember something, but none could recall a clan that used such a mark.
"I am Luomiu Bornholtz." The black-haired man followed the cute woman into the Metallic Lifeform and suddenly introduced himself as he passed Rog and Dimont.
Although Rog and Dimont were only Midgods, the black-haired Luomiu's judgment told him that these two Midgods were the strongest in the group.
It's actually him. Rog had finally confirmed who he was. When he first appeared in Linley's era, he already had the strength of a Seven-Star Fiend. Later, he had even become a Prefect. He was undoubtedly a genius in the Laws of Lightning as well.
Of the characters I know from the original story, I suppose he's the first I've met. I wonder how strong he is now, though he should at least have the strength of a peak Six-Star Fiend. Rog speculated inwardly, but merely gave a calm nod.
Afterward, the cute woman, Susan, also introduced herself to the Fiends.
And so, everyone continued the journey together.
After Luomiu and Susan joined them, the rest of the journey was peaceful. A few groups of bandits appeared now and then, but most were small, insignificant forces. As soon as the five or six Highgod Fiends went out, the bandits immediately scattered, fleeing faster than anyone else.
