Thunder's Wrath!
Lake Kejiaer.
This was a natural lake of exceptional beauty on the Zijing Continent. Its tranquil surroundings lent the clear waters a distinctive charm. Unfortunately, the peace was suddenly shattered today-
"Yiven Romison! I, Rog, a Six-Star Fiend, challenge you today!"
"Fight!" "Fight!" "Fight!"
Like the heavens roaring in fury, the thunderous challenge resounded across the shores of Lake Kejiaer. Even the normally placid surface erupted in splashes-
"Who is it?"
"Look! Someone's challenged the island lord!"
Yiven had not founded a clan. The force he had established was more like a sect, and besides his students and servants, tourists also visited the island. However, it was not within the bounds of a major city in the Infernal Realm, so even the weakest of those who dared visit were generally Highgods.
"There's going to be a battle between Seven-Star Fiends!"
"Heavens! We actually ran into a battle between Seven-Star Fiends! Quick, get ready to record it!"
Battles between Seven-Star Fiends were hard to come by. Just watching a Floating Shadow of one at the Fiend Castle cost a considerable sum. If they recorded this battle and sold it to the Fiend Castle, it would definitely fetch a fortune.
"Profound Mystery of Thunder?" Yiven's broad ears were unlike those of ordinary people; perhaps he belonged to some special race. Now that someone had come to challenge him, he could hardly refuse. Almost the moment he heard the challenge, he flew straight out of a building on the island at the lake's center. The two stood facing each other ten thousand meters above the water.
"No one's dared challenge me in a long time. Come on!" Yiven naturally knew full well that a task targeting him had been posted on the Fiend Castle's task board. But given his strength, few other Seven-Star Fiends dared accept it.
"Whoosh!" Yiven's build was much like Rog's, and the speed he unleashed was astonishing.
"So fast!" Rog knew that Yiven had long since achieved major success in fusing the Profound Mystery of Speed of Light from the Laws of Light. He was not much slower than Rog had been before, though he was still somewhat slower than Rog after his breakthrough in the Mist Sea.
With a crackle, Rog shot through the air as well. His form was impossible to make out; only a vague blur of lightning could be glimpsed streaking across the sky, its trajectory lost from sight in an instant. The speed the two unleashed as soon as they engaged stunned the other spectators.
"So, so strong! At that speed, they might be even faster than a Seven-Star Fiend who cultivates the Laws of Wind!" a Five-Star Fiend exclaimed.
"I've seen a Seven-Star Fiend of the Wind Element fight. He's called the Windseeker Fiend. His movements were graceful, but his bursts of speed couldn't match these two," another unidentified expert revealed.
In truth, the Wind, Light, and Lightning Elements all excelled at speed. Which was faster depended on the individual's mastery of the laws and movement techniques.
This fellow is fast. Yiven was also astonished by Rog's speed, though despite being a little slower, he could still just barely follow Rog's movements.
"Die!" Yiven's weapon was a golden spear. He thrust it forward, and a dazzling golden lightwave formed on its tip! The move seemed ordinary, but it was a terrifying material attack. In particular, it contained the Profound Mystery of Lightwave, giving it the ability to partially pierce an opponent's defenses directly.
"Interesting." The saber in Rog's hand trembled sharply as he sensed something unusual about the golden lightwave. When it first formed, its power was not apparent, but as it approached him, it pierced straight through space, all its power concentrated at a single point!
No wonder he uses a spear. Understanding dawned on Rog. With a slash of Thunderclap - Break, he directly canceled out the opponent's move, which concealed a deadly threat.
He actually broke it. This is trouble. Yiven's heart sank. Though that strike was not his strongest move, it was the one most likely to injure or kill an opponent. A moment's carelessness was all it took to catch them off guard, and it might even have secured him the advantage.
"Take one of mine, too." Rog casually slashed through the air, sending a bolt of purple lightning hurtling toward Yiven.
"Holy Light Dissolution!" Yiven dared not be careless. He spun his spear, tracing streaks of golden Light Divine Power that formed layer upon layer of rings of light. They actually caused the mighty thunderbolt to vanish without a trace.
"Profound Mysteries of Holiness?" The way his opponent used the move was rather interesting. He had developed a defensive move from a profound mystery originally used for attack. As expected of a veteran Seven-Star Fiend who had been famous for a long time.
"Aurora of Eternal Night!"
Yiven decided to stop probing and unleash his strongest move at once. If even this failed to defeat his enemy, today's battle would be difficult for him.
Brilliant golden light blazed in every direction, a radiance so dazzling that even ordinary gods could barely keep their eyes open-
It burst forth from Yiven and his spear!
This move perfectly combined four profound mysteries of the Laws of Light: the Element of Light, Speed of Light, Lightwave, and the Profound Mysteries of Holiness. He was confident that even other Seven-Star Fiends would meet their end beneath it. No fewer than five Seven-Star Fiends had died to this move, which was why he had been given the title of Aurora Fiend!
It had to be said that Yiven was definitely among the very strongest Seven-Star Fiends. This final move was even more concentrated and threatening than the sword strike unleashed by the man in black armor.
"But this ends here." Rog's heart was as still as water. He suddenly closed his eyes-
"What's he doing? He's not going to dodge that attack?" Many spectators were anxious for him, for a single glance was enough to tell how astonishingly powerful the move was.
"Heaven - Extermination!" Rog softly uttered the words, and a mysterious power suddenly descended. Just as the extraordinarily terrifying beam was about to strike him, it-
Gradually dissipated!
Like a meteor falling from high in the sky, its terrifying power was already spent by the time it neared the ground. When the immensely powerful beam struck in front of Rog, it caused hardly a ripple.
It was as though all the beam's power had been dissolved and devoured!
"Profound Mysteries of Holiness? Impossible!" His opponent was clearly an expert of the Lightning Element, so how could he know this move? Besides, even Yiven himself could not have canceled out its power so easily.
"How could you possibly imagine the power of thunder?" Rog smiled. He had only just thought of this move in a sudden burst of inspiration after seeing his opponent's technique. As for how he could perform it with the Laws of Lightning, outsiders did not know.
"I've seen your moves. Now, take one of mine." A calm, confident smile hung on Rog's face, while Yiven could not help breaking into a cold sweat. An inexplicable pressure left him struggling for breath. What was this?
"Behold thunder's true wrath-Azure Lightning!"
As soon as Rog uttered the words "Azure Lightning," above the whole of Lake Kejiaer-
Dark clouds suddenly gathered, pressing down from the sky.
Gloomy clouds massed over the entire lake, so thick that even the light of the blood sun could not penetrate them!
"W-what kind of move is this?!" The experts were stunned. This move had actually stirred the weather of the Infernal Realm on its own!
Beneath the dense black clouds, not only was Yiven, who bore the pressure head-on, drenched in sweat, but even the other gods watching from far away felt their souls tremble!
Layer upon layer of thunderclouds piled up, as though some terrifying monster were taking shape within them.
"Boom!"
As the black clouds gathered to their limit, a terrifying bolt of lightning carrying the might of heaven and earth suddenly pierced the clouds-and crashed down toward Yiven!
With that bolt of black lightning, the magnificent might of heaven descended upon the world!
"What's going on?! My body-I can't move!" Yiven was astounded. No matter how terrifying a move was, how could it leave him unable to move?
"Boom!" The radiance of the black lightning descended, illuminating Yiven's bewildered face. Then his entire body was blasted into dust and scattered on the wind.
High above, the oppressive thunderclouds finally dispersed of their own accord, and the blood sun once more shone over the surface of the lake.
