Capture X Mission complete X Didn't care
Irmie didn't say anything, but simply stepped away from her original spot and followed Jiang Ye out.
His steps were very light, making almost no sound on the iron plate, like a thin shadow gliding across the ground.
People came and went in the camp; some carried sheet metal, while others pushed carts loaded with Scrap Iron.
They didn't notice the man with long black hair, or if they did, they only glanced at him and then looked away.
In Meteor City, not looking too much, not asking too many questions, and not thinking too much is the way to live longer.
The three men passed through the makeshift gate welded from scrap iron at the edge of the camp, turned past two rows of stacked old shipping containers, and entered a narrow passage squeezed between overturned metal supports and rusty containers.
Shattered Eye crouched behind a fallen concrete pillar, his figure shrouded in shadow, his light-colored pupils peering through a narrow slit ahead.
Hearing footsteps behind him, he didn't turn around, but simply shifted his shoulder to make room for Jiang Ye to observe.
Gray Beak crouched behind another pile of scrap metal diagonally opposite, clutching a piece of steel pipe in his hand, his posture low, like a cat with its back hunched.
Jiang Ye crouched down in the spot vacated by Shattered Eye and peered through the gap.
Twenty meters ahead, an abandoned shipping container and a toppled iron structure formed a triangular dead end.
A man leaned against the inside wall of the shipping container, his dark coat covered in a layer of dust, his cheekbones prominent, and an old scar on his left eyebrow.
He crouched there, breathing heavily and unevenly, as if he had exhausted his strength during his escape and had been forced into a final dead end.
Upon closer inspection, it's exactly the same as in the photo!
Jiang Ye straightened up, took a half step back, and glanced at Irmie.
Illumi's gaze passed over Jiang Ye's shoulder and landed on that narrow slit.
His expression remained unchanged, but his gaze lingered on something longer than on anything else.
"Confirmed."
Jiang Ye did not respond.
He raised his right hand, his ten fingers silently overlapping at his sides, his thumb raised and his four fingers spread apart.
The wolf-headed hand shadow flashed by in the dim light of day.
The next moment, his shadow silently swelled and rose at his feet.
A giant black and white dog emerged crouching from the shadows, silently stepping onto the gravel ground, its fangs bared and a deep growl rumbling from its throat.
It made no extra sound, simply keeping its body low and moving silently along the shadowy lines between the piles of scrap metal.
The wanted criminal leaned against the inside wall of the shipping container, panting with his head down.
His lips were moving, and he was speaking in a low, halting voice, cursing something.
"Damn it."
"I shouldn't have come to District 13."
"He was just trying to save his life."
He had no conflicts with the people of Meteor City.
He had simply provoked the wrong people outside, and then he ran for three days and three nights, running all the way to Meteor City and District 13, thinking that he could escape the things chasing him by running to the deepest part of the garbage dump.
But he hid in the wrong place.
His lips stopped moving when he looked up and saw a long-haired black figure emerging from the shadows.
The words he was about to utter were stuck on the tip of his tongue, swallowed back down his throat.
His pupils contracted sharply, his expression shifted from exhaustion to fear, and his whole body began to tremble uncontrollably.
He knew this person.
The other party was relentlessly pursuing him, like a hunting dog tearing apart its prey, following him to the ends of the earth.
He turned to run.
The gravel slid beneath his feet, making a screeching sound.
Just as his left foot stepped onto a protruding piece of metal, before he could shift his weight, a tremor surged up from deep within the ground behind him.
He turned his head and saw a giant black and white dog silently blocking his way, its fangs bared and its vertical pupils staring at him quietly.
Its shadow blocked the way he could retreat, sealing off even the last gap.
Upon seeing this, the wanted criminal froze on the spot.
He opened his mouth, wanting to shout, to beg for mercy, to say something, but fear enveloped him so much that he couldn't utter a single word.
The Divine Dog: Totality lowered its body and grabbed him by the back of his neck by the collar, lifting him off the ground as if he were carrying a package.
Turning its massive body around, it retraced its steps back to the direction of Jiang Ye and Irmie.
Iron Wall stood three steps away from Jiang Ye, watching the giant dog emerge from the shadows and carry an adult man back, a hint of pride on his face.
No matter how strong your Zoldyck Family is, my leader is no less powerful!
The Divine Dog: Totality stopped in front of Irmmi and released its grip.
The man fell onto the gravel ground with a muffled groan. Before he could even lift his head, Irmie's right hand was already raised.
A clean and swift chop to the neck, without any unnecessary movements.
Illumi's fingers came together, and the edge of his palm precisely sliced into the side of the target's neck, the force perfectly controlled.
It can render the target unconscious instantly without causing permanent damage.
The body collapsed onto the gravel ground and remained motionless.
Irmie straightened up, glanced down at the person on the ground, and after confirming that their breathing was steady, turned her gaze to Jiang Ye.
"I will report this to the head of the family when I get back."
His voice remained indifferent, devoid of any gratitude or enthusiasm.
Jiang Ye didn't reply. He just stood there, watching Irmie bend down, lift the unconscious body off the ground with one hand, and sling it over his shoulder like a piece of light luggage.
Illumi took a few steps.
His steps were steady; even with someone on his shoulder, his center of gravity barely shifted, and the rhythm of each step was exactly the same as when he came.
He had walked about seven or eight steps when he suddenly stopped.
He didn't turn around, but simply turned his head to the side, revealing half of his pale profile.
"You."
He paused for a moment.
"Not bad."
After saying that, he continued walking forward, turned the corner of the row of collapsed iron frames, and his figure disappeared into the gray light of day.
Jiang Ye stood there, watching the black figure disappear into the pile of scrap metal in the distance.
He wasn't sure if Illumi meant "good" in terms of skill or "good at using".
He doesn't care.
Regardless of which one Illumi is referring to, the result is the same.
Under the bond of his oath, the Zoldyck Family's assassination training system will eventually be delivered to him.
How Illumi fans evaluate him doesn't affect the validity of that matter.
Iron Wall stood by, watching as Irmmi carried the target and disappeared into the pile of scrap metal, finally letting out a long sigh of relief.
The name Zoldyck Family is simply too terrifying to be associated with in Meteor City.
Jiang Ye, on the other side, withdrew his gaze and turned to walk back towards the camp.
His steps were neither fast nor slow, making a soft crunching sound as he walked on the gravel.
After taking a couple of steps, he turned his head and said something to the Iron Wall following behind him.
"Call Bago to the flat ground."
"I'll wait for him there."
