Chapter 27
Shen Yi said, "Yes, this is he."
"Well, do you remember asking me to help you look for a place a few days ago? I happen to have an apartment that meets your requirements. When would you have time to come and take a look..."
As Shen Yi listened to him, his thoughts began to drift.
The little cake at Fu Cheng's house today had been delicious. He'd heard it was made by the family's own chef. It was true that sweets could put people in a better mood.
He had been going to Fu Cheng's house often these past few days, but he had run into Fu Yuhe much less frequently...
"Mr. Shen? Mr. Shen? Are you still there?" The man with the hypnotic voice raised it.
Shen Yi came back to himself and arranged to get in touch with the man on the phone the following Friday. After hanging up, he yawned and sent Fu Yuhe a message. By the time he had finished washing up, there was still no reply, so he lay down in bed and fell asleep.
The bed in the bedroom was 1.8 meters wide, giving Shen Yi plenty of room to roll around. His phone lay abandoned on the quilt, and after he turned over a few times, it ended up buried in the covers.
Half an hour later, the phone vibrated and lit up.
Fu Yuhe had seen Shen Yi's message as soon as it arrived.
There hadn't actually been anything particularly urgent at the company these past few days.
The lights were on in an office in a high-rise. Fu Yuhe stared at the words "come home early" on his phone for a long while. Whenever the screen went dark, he lit it up again. He did this four times, but still didn't reply.
Someone knocked on the office door. Smack. Fu Yuhe put his phone facedown on the desk, as if waking from a dream. Realizing what he was doing, he rubbed his forehead.
"Come in."
His assistant pushed open the office door, said it was getting late, and asked when he would be leaving work.
The assistant wore a smile. He didn't know what had gotten into President Fu these past two days; he had gone back to working overtime like crazy.
If he didn't leave work, the rest of them had to work overtime too.
Fu Yuhe glanced at the time and realized how late it was. He picked up his phone and stood. "Let's go."
The assistant breathed a sigh of relief.
The driver was responsible for taking Fu Yuhe home. Fu Yuhe got into the car, opened his phone in the back seat, and sent Shen Yi a curt reply.
[Busy with work.]
He rested his elbow on the car window, his palm over the side of his neck, his fingertips rubbing it lightly.
A few minutes later, he lit up the screen.
No message.
A few minutes later, he checked his phone again. Still no message.
...Has he gone to sleep?
He leaned back in the car seat and closed his eyes.
He knew what feelings Shen Yi had for him. He had misunderstood before. Someone like Shen Yi, if he really had feelings for someone, would disdain to hide them. His friendship with Fu Cheng really was nothing more than friendship.
Only after setting aside his prejudice could Fu Yuhe see things more clearly.
The person Shen Yi was truly interested in was him.
But Shen Yi was Fu Cheng's friend, and he was young. Fu Yuhe couldn't just accept him because Shen Yi was interested in him. Perhaps Fu Yuhe had given Shen Yi the wrong impression at the beginning, stirring up a rebellious streak in him.
He didn't think this was revenge. If Shen Yi wanted revenge on him, there was no need to drag himself into it; the loss would outweigh the gain. Besides, he didn't seem like someone that bored.
Shen Yi was interested in him.
He had agreed to one condition from Shen Yi, but if Shen Yi's condition was for him to date him...
A dark glint flashed through Fu Yuhe's eyes.
That was absolutely impossible.
His fingertips slid over his lower lip without him realizing it.
But would rejecting him indirectly affect Fu Cheng...? Whenever Fu Yuhe had a moment to himself, countless thoughts filled his head. He frowned in irritation, his whole demeanor growing oppressive. Up front, the driver barely dared to breathe as he glanced at him in the rearview mirror.
The boss seemed to be in a bad mood.
Chapter 13: I'm Drunk
The dismissal bell rang on Friday, but the teacher of senior year class 1's last lesson kept them a little late, so they got out later than the other classes.
Shen Yi glanced at the time and roughly shoved the books he had packed up into his schoolbag.
"Are you coming to my house today?" Fu Cheng asked beside him, carrying his schoolbag.
"Ah..." Shen Yi looked apologetic. "I have something to do today."
"Where are you going?" Fu Cheng asked.
Shen Yi said, "I'm meeting someone."
Fu Cheng asked, "Who?"
Shen Yi tapped a fingertip against his lips. "Well... I can't tell you."
The more he refused to say, the more curious Fu Cheng became. Besides, Fu Cheng hadn't forgotten Xu Fanchao's threat to Shen Yi last time. Along with his curiosity, he was worried about him. Although Xu Fanchao hadn't done anything these past few days, whenever they ran into him at school, the look in his eyes and his expression didn't suggest he would let the matter rest easily.
But judging by Shen Yi's expression, it didn't seem to have anything to do with them.
"But if you really want to know, I can take you with me," Shen Yi said, changing his mind.
"Take a look at this bedroom. You don't need to buy the basic furniture yourself; everything you need is here. The room faces south, so it's well ventilated and the air is good. There's also a balcony, and it's spacious. You can get some sun and enjoy the breeze..." The man in a suit had his hair slicked back. As he described the room, he watched the two boys in school uniforms, who were clearly still students.
The apartment was spacious for one person, and the surrounding area was very nice too. The only drawbacks were that the rent was a little expensive and the minimum lease was six months.
A phone rang. The man in the suit took out his phone and smiled at the two boys in front of him. "Sorry, I need to take this call."
Shen Yi nodded and watched the man in the suit walk to one side, then went to the balcony.
This was the sixth floor, which wasn't particularly high, and the view looking down was beautiful. Fu Cheng followed him to the balcony. "Shen Yi."
