We're Very Friendly
Zhang Xuezhou often tries to get something for nothing, but these methods are not suitable for all situations.
When dealing with a practitioner like Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva who lacks self-confidence, giving appropriate gifts can make his actions much smoother.
Teaching written language sounds simple, but language is a systematic subject, and it is extremely difficult to learn quickly without teaching materials.
This is not only a requirement for Zhang Xuezhou, but also for Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva.
"I will do everything in my power to teach you Sanskrit, and when you leave Spirit Mountain, I will give you the Kunlun Elixir?" Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva confirmed.
"This period won't be long," Zhang Xuezhou nodded. "I will reward you with pills of varying grades, from low to medium, or even high grade, depending on how well you teach me!"
"The better the teacher, the better the elixir?" asked Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva.
"That's inevitable," Zhang Xuezhou nodded. "If you hadn't taken me on a tour of Spirit Mountain before, I would have been recruiting the most skilled Sanskrit teacher Spirit Mountain!"
"I am the best Sanskrit teacher!"
Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva glanced at them and then patted his chest in agreement.
Leaving aside the other pills Zhang Xuezhou promised, the Qi and Blood Fortune Pill in his hand alone is no ordinary item and can be used as a trump card in a battle.
"I have two good friends who can come and teach you Sanskrit together!"
Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva thought for a few seconds and realized that she was indeed curious about the superior-grade elixir that Zhang Xuezhou had mentioned.
If we exclude Cihang Daoren's identity, Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva has never used a high-grade elixir that matches her own level of cultivation in recent years, and the number of times she has even seen one can be counted on one hand.
"You're very welcome," Zhang Xuezhou nodded. "If those two friends perform well, I wouldn't mind giving them appropriate compensation!"
"You're giving this away too?"
Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva was just calculating how to communicate with her friend and find an excuse to invite him to help for free, but Zhang Xuezhou resolved his worries very quickly, without Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva having to pay even the slightest price.
"Let's go, let's go!"
With Zhang Xuezhou's assurance, how could Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva possibly resist?
"Batuoluo, Manjushri!"
He shouted down towards the foot of Spirit Mountain, and his voice echoed far and wide.
"Their names, translated into the languages of the Eastern Land, are Samantabhadra and Manjushri," said Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva. "They are close to me and are extremely familiar with the languages Eastern Land and Sanskrit!"
"I see!"
"You're just a tiny bit worse than me!"
Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva emphasized that he was most skilled in teaching Sanskrit, while the other two could serve as assistants.
One side descended from the mountaintop, while the other side ascended after hearing the sound.
The two sides met near the Eight Treasures Merit Pool, and Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva quickly explained the situation to the two monks who were practicing with disheveled hair.
Samantabhadra holds a Arhat Bamboo and rides a demonic elephant, while Manjushri holds a magic sword and rides a blue-maned lion.
The two drove the demon up the mountain and reunited with Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva.
"I was just about to ambush that Sunzi Narasinha, I was almost about to hit him!" Samantabhadra exclaimed, "Is there something urgent between us?"
"My longsword was almost stolen by Vishnu. He's getting more and more difficult to deal with, and his temper hasn't been very good these past two days," Manjushri replied sullenly.
"Forget about those trivial territorial disputes," said Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva. "The Holy Son of Kunlun has invited us to teach Sanskrit, and the reward is very generous!"
After thinking for a moment, Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva took out the Qi and Blood Fortune Pill that she had hidden at her waist.
"He said he would give us elixirs if we taught well," Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva said, pointing to Zhang Xuezhou.
"Pills? Are you really willing to give us such good pills?"
Manjushri's eyes lit up. He jumped off the blue-maned lion, took two steps closer to Zhang Xuezhou, and asked in surprise.
"I'm willing to give it, but you can't just touch or take it!"
Zhang Xuezhou flicked his finger, producing a sound like metal clashing. Wenshu immediately started hopping around, clutching his swollen right thumb.
"Excellent tactic!"
Samantabhadra landed on the white elephant, clapped his hands in praise of Zhang Xuezhou, then frowned, clenched his right hand tightly, and remained silent.
He flicked me!
Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva said something to the two of them with a hint of resentment.
"Even with your hand moving so fast, you still got flicked?" Manjushri asked in surprise.
"No wonder you're willing to cooperate for payment," Samantabhadra gritted his teeth and said.
The three Bodhisattvas looked at each other and exchanged glances.
"Gaining temporary convenience is certainly good, but the long-term rewards will far outweigh short-sighted gains," Zhang Xuezhou said with a smile. "My Kunlun Secret Realm is full of Rare Flowers and Exotic Herbs, and we have conducted extensive research on top-tier elixirs. This Holy Son would also be happy to make some friendly great cultivators visit Kunlun!"
"We are very friendly," said Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva.
"I'm friendly too!"
Me too!
It wasn't hard to guess the three bodhisattvas' little schemes, and Zhang Xuezhou immediately countered them.
Only those who are desperate and at their wits' end would be short-sighted and seek quick profits. These three bodhisattvas were clearly not at that level, so it wouldn't be too difficult for Zhang Xuezhou to dispel their thoughts.
As the Heavenly Court once governed extraordinary individuals, Kunlun has always been renowned for its wealth.
If it were a cultivator from another Sacred Land making a request to make friends, the three Bodhisattvas would simply smile slightly. But for the holy son of Kunlun Sacred Land to make friends is a different matter altogether.
Even a starved camel is bigger than a horse; the most desolate Kunlun Sacred Land is still better than the barren Spirit Mountain. Becoming a friend of a holy son like Zhang Xuezhou is certainly something to be proud of, not to mention being invited to Kunlun as a guest.
In a short time, the four became good friends and best buddies.
"It's no use just saying it's dry; to learn Sanskrit, you need Sanskrit scriptures to explain it!"
The group sat on the ground. After writing about a hundred characters on the ground with the Arhat Bamboo, Samantabhadra felt that this method of teaching by breaking down characters was useless and that it was difficult to understand the True Intention of Sanskrit.
The idiom "To see a thousand miles further, climb one more story" and "to climb to a higher floor to see a thousand miles of scenery" are not problematic in terms of translation, but they represent two different things in their respective language systems.
Samantabhadra gestured and gave instructions, indicating that everyone could go to the Sutra Repository to find some scriptures for comparison and explanation.
"I think Samantabhadra is right," Manjushri agreed. "This kind of explanation can only teach you some Sanskrit for daily use, but it's impossible to read through the scriptures!"
Zhang Xuezhou paid an extremely high price for the pills used by great cultivators. If the other party only wanted to make eating, drinking, relieving themselves, and communication more convenient, no one would believe it.
The three bodhisattvas knew without thinking that Zhang Xuezhou most likely sought something from the Western Sect texts.
How Zhang Xuezhou acquired the classics is one thing; how they teach them is another.
For the sake of the friendship of the Kunlun Holy Son, and even more so for the high quality of the elixirs he was gifting, the three Bodhisattvas felt they had to put in extra effort.
"The Holy Son is willing to invite us to Kunlun, and we invite the Holy Son to our home as guests. It's not unreasonable for the Holy Son to have also happened to have looked at the Avatamsaka Sutra that I have studied," said Samantabhadra.
"My transcribed copy of the Lotus Sutra can also be displayed," Manjushri said through gritted teeth.
"If that's how you put it, then I can also take out the four hundred volumes of the Nirvana Sutra that I copied," Contemplator of Freedom Bodhisattva whispered.
"If one is familiar with these three scriptures, one can understand seven or eight parts of the Western Sect texts!"
After some discussion, everyone presented their ideas.
These scriptures are treasures to others, but to the three bodhisattvas who read and practice them daily, they are nothing but weeds.
As for the consequences of being seen by others, that's another matter.
Being able to see doesn't necessarily mean being able to write; being able to hear doesn't necessarily mean being able to read. Even if they explain and introduce the scriptures, Zhang Xuezhou may not necessarily be able to learn them.
Compared to the actual gift of elixirs, displaying scriptures is nothing special.
