Ren Anran and her older brother, Ren Wuyang, were conceived through artificial insemination using eggs Ren Yisheng obtained abroad. Their biological mother, Tuer Kelanduo, became the twenty-sixth councilor of the Thousand Islands Alliance. Ren Yisheng personally arranged much of Anran’s Gene Sequence, intending her to inherit his abilities closely 608 1115.

Her father’s strict upbringing and their differing beliefs left their relationship strained. She nevertheless followed a medical and psychological career: she treated Zhang Xuezhou as a student, then recognized him two years later despite his dramatically changed appearance 372 603.

Reunion and Secret Medicine

When Zhang Xuezhou returned to the Ren Household with Ren Wuyang, Anran hoped his Supreme Purity True Technique would make secret-medicine injections bearable. The pain relief proved counterproductive during her attempted fifth-chapter breakthrough: without sustained pain to drive her upward, she became absorbed in disordered memories and could not redirect her thoughts 372 373.

The ensuing danger surrounding Wang Jiangtao forced her to confront death and recover fragments of missing memories. Her eventual fifth-chapter advancement left her with both greater control and deep fear of the ordeal through which she had obtained it 375 379.

She soon began openly pursuing Zhang Xuezhou. Ren Wuyang objected partly because her recurring memory loss could make her forget the relationship—a concern borne out when she later asked Zhang whether there was any connection between them 380 398.

Her Father’s Apparent Death

Anran worked in the medical department during the Sequencer Grand Gathering, using her ability to soothe minds. When Ren Yisheng stopped answering communications, Twilight Years Mansion staff reported that his body was cold and apparently without vital signs 602.

Her earlier resentment gave way to grief and protectiveness. She demanded that his body be brought home and threatened to investigate whether anyone had provoked him. Through concentrated perception, she subsequently heard his disembodied voice calling her name 603 606.

Tuer Clan Saintess

Contact with Tuer Kelanduo awakened unfamiliar Tuer language fragments and clan ideas in Anran, while also making her dangerously obedient. Her emphasis on Mental Strengthening helped her repeatedly regain her bearings, though it did not make her immune to her mother’s influence 775.

She became deeply disappointed when Kelanduo attempted to reshape her thinking and bind her to the Tuer God. During her time as a sacrificial saintess, Anran studied internal religious records and copied classified Tur technical documents. She later disclosed the documents to Zhang Xuezhou, who treated them as usable or tradable resources rather than condemning her actions 785 1003 1392.

Anran also demonstrated the Supreme Purity True Technique as a divine healing art before the clan. The hurried ceremony had limited impact: she had not formally assumed her position, and only the front rows could clearly see the wound closing 790.

Contact with the Emperor

Anran began seeing an ancient emperor across worlds, speaking unfamiliar languages and drawing the figure she perceived. Zhang Xuezhou believed her and used the connection to seek explanations of the Yang Corporeal Soul Transformation Technique 768.

The Emperor’s mark later drew her to Western Kunlun while she was attempting a sixth-chapter Mental Strengthening breakthrough. He addressed her as a “High God” and sought to learn her language, while she guarded information about her world. She recognized that his courtesy arose from his desire for escape and survival, not personal attachment 2058 2059.

With Ren Yisheng’s intervention, she shattered the imprint and escaped the connection. Although she felt the loss of some extraordinary aptitude, she valued recovering her own emotions and freedom. Her father’s rescue also repaired much of their estrangement 2062.

Champion and Protector

As Western Capital City’s defending champion, Anran faced Ning Que, whose abilities countered both her mental combat technique and long-range shooting. Rather than force a direct confrontation, she used the arena’s artificial hills and underwater terrain, concealed herself in a pool, and surprised him with a gun protected by a sealed bag. Ning Que conceded 1934.

When Zhang Xuezhou later collapsed, she refused to move him without understanding his condition. She contacted Zhang Manqian and Ren Yisheng, considered bringing medical equipment to him, and investigated his recent discussions of the Tomb Scripture 2361.

After learning Song Sijia’s revised Resonance Between Heaven and Humanity method, Anran recited the Tomb Scripture with Ren Wuyang and offered her bead to help Zhang fight Huang Daoxian. An ancient power answered, giving her a grayish-white body and enormous black wings. She adapted quickly enough to pursue the enemy, although Zhang identified a marked imbalance between her exceptional defense and weak striking power 2364 2371 2373.

Xuanming and the Underground Fighting

Using a bronze turtle sent by Ning Que, Anran contacted Xuanming, who began reclaiming her Profound Qi Heavy Armor. She halted the process by claiming to possess a Karmic Fortune Pearl and offering an introduction to Zhang Xuezhou. She left the unfinished negotiation for Zhang to handle 2766.

Remnants left by Xuanming restored long-forgotten memories and contributed to her renewed growth. After reaching the Seventh Sequence, she followed Zhang into underground fighting against the Montes Lineage’s forces. She used mental suppression, smoke, and stolen clothing to incapacitate passing fighters before joining his confrontation with Montes Clark 2769 2775 2834 2904.

Crossing Worlds

Anran’s later journey through the void nearly overwhelmed her divine soul. An ancient tree sheltered her and supplied restorative spring water before Zhu Jiuyin’s pull carried her onward. On arriving in the Three Realms, Zhu Jiuyin mistook her for a Dao Child sent by Hongjun, provided Spirit Jade, and began teaching her the Great Wilderness Creation Scripture 3487 3493.

She accompanied Zhang through the Great Han world, learning its language, meeting his acquaintances, and seeing the devastation of war firsthand. Her interest in its people and relationships became more subdued as she observed ruined farmland and displaced civilians 3503.

Her divided soul and incomplete body later impaired her judgment and logical reasoning, but she remained one of the Scarlet Alliance State’s foremost researchers. By working slowly and cautiously, she continued investigating cultivation methods while recovering 3582 3654.

Her approach to cultivation is analytical rather than obedient. She compares methods, searches for simpler routes to Realm Entry, and questions systems that cannot serve a broader population. Despite her father’s plans, she increasingly follows a path built around her own discoveries and collaboration with Zhang Xuezhou 438 1115 2683.

Her attachment to Zhang develops beyond courtship into a durable partnership. She wants to share a life longer than a hundred years with him and places his continued identity above status or possessions.
