A Great Weapons Haul, Jack Pledges His Loyalty
Seeing the smiles on the faces of these mortals from the Painting Scroll World made Chen Feng even more determined to grow stronger.
Only by growing stronger could he take his fate into his own hands. Otherwise, he would be just like these people, with his life and death resting on a single thought from someone else.
Chen Feng looked away from the mortals and returned to the secret chamber.
He would not show them charity.
Those were simply the rules of the Painting Scroll World. Here, the strong reigned supreme.
All he could do was make a fair exchange with them.
They worked, and he paid them. Neither side owed the other anything.
The black market bar.
A crowd had gathered outside the bar, with Jack standing at the very front.
Jack was covered in wounds, and some of the underlings behind him were no better off.
Everyone looked exhausted. They probably had not slept all night.
Jack looked anxious, glancing around outside the black market bar.
His underlings all looked puzzled.
Their boss had come running to the bar at five in the morning and had stood there for a full two hours.
They did not understand what Jack was waiting for.
But they did not dare disobey his orders, so they could only wait with him.
Just then, Chen Feng appeared at the bar entrance.
The moment Jack saw him, he hurriedly dropped to his knees and cried out with utmost devotion:
"Great god! Your servant will be loyal to you forever!"
Jack's actions stunned Chen Feng, and the underlings around them were dumbfounded too. Quite a few of them knew Chen Feng.
They knew he was one of Jack's major clients, but although Jack was usually polite to Chen Feng, surely he would not go so far as to kneel and worship him.
The underlings looked at one another, utterly bewildered.
Jack suddenly turned and cursed at the underlings behind him:
"Fuck! Do you have a death wish? Hurry up, get on your knees and worship Lord God!"
Startled by Jack's furious scolding, the underlings did not dare hesitate. They all dropped to their knees and called out to Lord God just as he had.
They wondered if their boss had gone mad, or perhaps joined some religious organization.
Chen Feng was speechless as he looked at the rows of kneeling gangsters.
"All right, get up, everyone. We'll talk inside."
It was broad daylight, and they were right outside the bar. If anyone saw so many people kneeling and worshipping him,
he might well be taken for the leader of a cult.
Jack immediately got up and respectfully led him into the bar.
In the office, Chen Feng sat in the seat of honor and looked at Jack.
"Did you take care of what I told you to do yesterday?"
Jack answered with the utmost respect:
"I've brought everything you asked for!"
With that, Jack ran to the door and said something to the underlings guarding it.
Soon, seven or eight underlings came into the room carrying all sorts of boxes and bags.
Jack then sent them away and opened the boxes one by one for Chen Feng to see.
Chen Feng immediately saw more than a dozen submachine guns and dozens of grenades in the opened boxes, along with two boxes of ammunition.
The other bags contained tactical equipment, with everything from bulletproof vests onward.
Chen Feng stepped forward, picked up a submachine gun, and examined it.
He recognized the model at a glance. It was the famous MP7.
The gun used 4.6×30mm ammunition, had a high rate of fire and low recoil, and had been designed specifically for special forces.
Chen Feng nodded in satisfaction. Even if this thing could not kill a Xiantian expert, it could still lay down tremendous suppressive fire.
With its terrifying rate of fire and sustained shooting, it could wear down a Xiantian expert's Gang Qi.
Just then, Jack opened two more boxes.
Inside were square blocks wrapped in yellow paper, with electronic components attached to each one.
Chen Feng raised an eyebrow when he saw them. He had not expected to find even these.
C4 explosives!
Each charge was powerful enough to blow a tank's tracks apart, and there were thirty in the two boxes combined.
C4, also known as chewing gum explosive, was famous all over the world.
One box contained remote-detonated C4, and the other contained timed C4.
Seeing the two boxes of C4, Chen Feng smiled. This was good stuff.
Just two of these going off would be enough to finish a Xiantian expert.
"Where did these come from?" He did not remember the mercenaries around William carrying anything like this.
Jack explained:
"They were on Stone's ship. There are these, too."
As he spoke, Jack opened the last large bag. Inside were two RPG launchers and ten rockets.
When Chen Feng saw the rocket launchers, he looked at Jack. "Don't tell me these were on Stone's ship too."
If Stone had really had rocket launchers on his ship, wouldn't he have brought them out long ago to fight the Blackwater Company's mercenaries to the death?
Jack scratched his head awkwardly.
"Nothing gets past you. Actually, I took over the gang last night."
Jack gave Chen Feng an account of what had happened, and Chen Feng got the general picture.
After Stone died, the entire gang fell into chaos. Jack, one of its minor bosses, had led a group of underlings in a night of fierce fighting and successfully become the new boss of the Crips and Bloods.
The rocket launchers had also come from the gang's weapons stockpile. Those two launchers were all the heavy firepower it had.
Rocket launchers were strictly controlled in Eagle Sauce. It was already impressive for a gang to have one or two.
Chen Feng glanced at Jack. This black guy was quite ambitious, taking over the gang as soon as Stone died.
Seeing Chen Feng looking at him, Jack dropped to his knees again. "I am willing to be loyal to Lord God forever!"
Chen Feng spoke calmly.
"You don't have to call me Lord God, and I won't kill you."
"You just need to remember that you can't tell anyone what happened last night. Otherwise, I guarantee you'll be going to see Stone at once!"
Chen Feng had already guessed what Jack was thinking. He simply wanted to cling to Chen Feng's coattails.
But Chen Feng did not mind. Having a foreign gang under his control would make things more convenient for him.
Meeting Chen Feng's icy gaze, Jack immediately said:
"Please rest assured, boss. Even if I die, I, Jack, won't tell anyone what happened last night!"
Chen Feng did not believe Jack's words in the slightest. He had spared him only so Jack could work for him.
"One more thing. Help me buy these." Chen Feng handed Jack a list.
The list contained small consumer goods that Chen Feng intended to take to the Painting Scroll World to sell.
Jack glanced at the items on the list and nodded.
"Boss, I'll get right on it. I can have it done within three hours!"
Jack did not know why Chen Feng was buying these things, but he would not ask. He only had to do as Chen Feng instructed.
"Mm, you can go out first," Chen Feng said.
There were simply too many things here. He could not carry them all out with him.
He could only open the painting scroll here first and send the equipment into the Painting Scroll World.
