Background / History

Ben was a Mechanist living in Bruno City’s District 13, where he shared a sixty-square-meter home with three other factory workers. His parents had spent their life savings to send him to the National Mechanical Academy, and he refused to return home despite calculating that saving for an apartment would take him 120 years at his current rate. 527

Richard reached Ben through a dream and offered him a contract that could change his fate. Driven by anger and unwillingness to remain trapped in his circumstances, Ben signed it; the contract bore both Ben Victor’s and Richard’s names in the Material World. 527 When Richard entered Ben’s world, he treated Ben’s injuries and brought him into the secret realm. The clean air and transformed sky immediately inspired fanatical faith in Richard. 528

As Richard’s first follower in the world, Ben became the subject of an extensive biological modification. Richard fused Berserk Orc blood into his goblin lineage, implanted multiple auxiliary organs, and replaced his heart with one cultivated from Reinforcement Cells. 531 Richard subsequently gave Ben the Staff of Healing and named him the first Pope of the Miracle Order. 532

Ben established his reputation by healing impoverished workers without accepting payment and preaching the Miracle Order’s teachings. He later fought Church of the Lord of Ten Thousand Machines Guardian Knights, breaking through one knight’s armor and killing him with a blow to the heart while empowered by Divine Blessing. 533 537

During the Abyss disaster, Ben continued serving the Miracle Order until Abyss corruption consumed more than half of his body. He lost an arm and half of his left leg, and Richard determined that his transformation into an Abyssal Demon could no longer be prevented. 572 Richard later transformed Ben into a saint, making him a Level Four Heroic Spirit. Franken succeeded him as the Miracle Order’s second Pope. 573

Ben is a green-skinned goblin whose body changed dramatically after entering the evolutionary sequence and undergoing Richard’s modifications.
