Background

Founding and early history

Donglai was assembled after the fall of Tongtian Continent. Surviving True Lords severed earth veins and divided mountains and rivers, using the lands that had not fallen to establish overseas Immortal Continents before returning to fight the Devil Gods. Donglai Divine Continent was one such hastily constructed homeland. 667

The Profound Heaven Dao Sage ultimately resolved past karma and attained Dao in Donglai. His reputation, together with the protection of the Hurricane Belt, preserved Donglai's peace for thousands of years until the Dragon Kings began causing trouble. 688

After the continent formed, Donglai's cultivation world developed a relatively open culture of exchange between sects. Even so, numerous Hidden Acupoints and cultivation principles remained unexplored or guarded as lineage secrets. 674

Creation Origin

Donglai's Creation Mother Qi is understood as the sum of two quantities:

Donglai is organized around thirteen water regions. Its spiritual geography includes a network of islands, sect territories, palaces, and water routes whose placement affects the movement of Origin Energy. 518 868

Donglai Remnant Continent

The Donglai Remnant Continent retains an ancient environment but lacks the sun and moon's influence. Its water spirit qi is suppressed by fire and earth, making it functionally similar to an independent world. 335

Modern cultivation methods developed in Donglai's waters can still be used there, but they perform poorly without revision. Divine Land-era methods are more compatible, though even these require adjustments to account for the altered environment. 335

Great Desolate Ancient City

The Great Desolate Ancient City is Donglai's continent-scale defensive and infrastructural project.

• It links islands, mountain gates, Daoist palaces, and treasure halls into a system that redirects Origin Energy and improves its compatibility with Donglai cultivators. 518
• Its completed form requires the Heavenly Constellation Formation, encompassing the Heavenly Constellation of the Nine Heavens and drawing upon the Soul Sea's stars. 520
