History
Qin Fang obtains the Soul Devouring Evil Blade from the Sun Moon Auction House after Scorpion Tiger Douluo pays its 50,000-Gold-Soul-Coin price. Electrolux identifies the blade as Gold of Life corrupted by injected evil thoughts and curses. He purifies it, then prepares Qin Fang’s external soul bone to bear its life force 21 22.
During fusion, Qin Fang’s Green Lotus martial soul absorbs one-third of the Gold of Life’s life aura. The remaining power nourishes his body and fuses with his external soul bone and Eye of Undead; Qin Fang later reports that the bone has reached at least the hundred-thousand-year level 23 29.
Qin Fang subsequently collects around a hundred palm-sized pieces from beneath the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. These formed from life aura emitted over the years by the Icefire Dragon Kings 51. During a later visit to the well, the Snow Empress collects another seven or eight pieces 223.
Properties & Uses
Life force and healing
- Gold of Life emits concentrated life aura. A small piece fills Earth Dragon Gate’s reception hall with it, leaving Nan Shuishui feeling several years younger 106.
- Qin Fang extracts life aura from a thumb-sized piece to replenish Ma Rulong’s depleted vitality; others nearby also experience recovery from hidden injuries 80.
- A piece helps Nan Lingtian survive his condition and supports the gradual transformation of his martial soul 106 112.
- Its healing has limits: Long Xiaoyao exhausts several pieces trying to sustain the critically injured Ye Xishui, but their life aura continues to drain from her 135.
Fusion and spiritual restoration
- Fusing it into Qin Fang’s external soul bone grants the bone a Gold of Life characteristic. Its power also contributes to his Green Lotus’s growth 23 29.
- Qin Fang later feeds its life aura into his damaged vertical eye and spiritual sea. Six pieces are consumed in the attempt, with two refined by the Snow Emperor; one major ravine in his spiritual sea is repaired, while eight remain 226.
- Electrolux draws on Gold of Life to reconstruct Qin Fang’s body within a Life Coffin 142.
Spirit Imbuement and forging
- Qin Fang’s million-year soul skill Spirit Imbuement consumes Gold of Life’s power to grant spirituality. Electrolux warns that, until Qin Fang becomes a god, the supply is finite 25.
- Qin Fang uses it while awakening a new consciousness in the Snow Empress Soul Spirit, consuming a piece of Gold of Life 110.
- Its life aura helps Qin Fang forge sentient God-level Metal. Early attempts also cost him his own vitality: after two small pieces, Ye Xishui finds that his lifespan has shortened by a year 29.
- While forging Myriad Water Gold Essence and using Spirit Imbuement, Qin Fang completely drains the Gold of Life at his brow. Its reserve prevents the skill from exhausting his own life force 64.
