Honestly, I think that this is the most neutral story I have read on this Site, it’s not bad. No certainly not bad and it CAN be good at points but at no point in time could you call this Story Great.

The biggest thing that drags it down in my opinion, is that all the Author seems to be able to do is copy things.

Xiao Yan gets Heavenly Flames, Mo Yu gets Mysterious Thunders.
Xiao Yan is a Descendant of the Xiao Clan, Mo Yu is a descendant of the Lei Clan.
Xiao Yan gets Venerable Yao Chens Soul Body, Mo Yu gets Venerable Uncle She’s Soul Body.
Xiao Yan becomes an Alchemist, Mo Yu becomes an Artificer.
Xiao Yan requires Materials, a Fire and A Cauldron to refine Pills, What a Coincidence Mo Yu also requires those to refine weapons.
Xiao Yan attends the Pill Gathering, Mo Yu has the Artificer’s Competition.
Xiao Yan’s Pill Gathering was infiltrated and he and the person who infiltrated the Pill Gathering both manage to produce 8th Tier Pills but Xiao Yan’s just happens to be slightly better, How strange that’s exactly what happens in the Artificers Competition as well.
7th Tier Alchemy produces Pill Lightning, 7th Tier Artificing produces Artifact Lightning ( Because that is SO different ).
8th Tier Alchemy produces Coloured Lightning, What a coincidence so does 8th Tier Artifacts.

I think you get where I am going, so much of this is just a Carbon copy of Xiao Yan’s journey that it feels very samey and boring, but at the same time the Author does make Mo Yu’s journey just different enough to make me continue reading.

But once they leave the Dou Qi Continent and travel to the Great Thousand Worlds, it gets a lot better and it stops being so repetitive, although at points it really feels like the Author wants to finish up this story as he rushes through plot points, forgets entire characters and just ignores some enemies that Mo Yu made that will never be addressed.

Compared to the slow and deep nature of the first half of the Story, the second half feels like it is rushing to completion and in my opinion it really suffers for that, it stops being personal and feels quite bland and boring.

This is a really fun story for the first 400 Chapters or so, but after that the story starts getting impatient, it goes from moving at a snails pace to insanely ramping up with multiple time skips one after another just to get to the end and ultimately I feel that the Character makes many decisions that don’t fit his Character or where the Story was going, the ending is kind of just a let down TBH.

Douluo: The Shadow Monarch Martial Soul
Ch. 276
neutral

It’s alright. I really, really enjoyed it at the beginning and through most of it but the problem is the Author wasn’t satisfied with JUST introducing the Shadow Monarch Martial Soul and by the end of the Story it is basically just the story of Solo Leveling being retold in the Douluo Dalu Universe.

Literally, Portals begin to Open, The MC has to fight the other Monarchs, even a full on War between The Dragon Monarch and the MC.

It’s not Bad, but it’s not good either, I really wish they had just kept it at him having the Shadow Monarch Martial soul rather than attempting to retell the original Solo Leveling story. Because being honest it feels like a pale imitation at best and at worst it’s boring and and it drags.

Eh, it’s alright, very short and to the point with this story, There are no Romances, no side plots, no great friendships or enemies really.

It has 143 Chapters to get from High God to exiting the Magic Universe and it does that well, with the sacrifice being that the story as a Whole feels very Shallow and Boring, it hits beat after beat after beat, There is no stopping or slowing down this train and you can REALLY feel it.

If I had to give it a rating, probably 6.5 / 10.

Also, Just noticed the Title, but this story has fuck all to do with Swords.
