History
Origin and stewardship
The Primordial World is founded upon Pangu's transformation: its myriad things arose from Pangu's body, while its Primordial Saints trace their origins to his Primordial Spirit and blood essence. Its eighty-two Innate Dao Bodies likewise originate from Pangu and his eighty-one avatars. 71
Ancestor Hongjun later reveals that Pangu—not the Heavenly Dao or Hongjun himself—is the world's true master. Hongjun is a Worker selected to develop it and intends to determine whether his disciples can govern it without his continued direction. 208
The current world is the Tenth Era. The Era Divine Diagram bears nine fruits representing nine previous eras, indicating that the Primordial World has already been reopened nine times without successfully advancing. 370
Ninth Era
In the Ninth Era, the world was shattered and known as the Earth Immortal Realm. The Eastern Celestial Pole had become lifeless and decayed; the Azure Dragon Clan was annihilated, its Heavenly Dao had vanished, and corruption permeated the Earth Immortal Realm. 370
By that era's Age of Dharma's End, heaven and earth were decaying and the weakened Primordial World faced invasion by the Alliance of Righteous Qi of the Heavens, whose members sought its Heavenly Dao Origin. 377
Growth in the Tenth Era
The Witch-Demon Tribulation ends without catastrophic damage to the world because of God-Emperor Meng Zhang's intervention. The Heavenly Dao subsequently distributes merit to those who contributed to preserving order. 205
Meng Chen's conquest and refinement of the Saintess Great World leads to its merger with the Primordial World. Ancestor Hongjun and Meng Chen connect the two worlds' spiritual veins, allowing the Primordial World to absorb the former great world as the Four Extremes Continent. 362
Cosmology
Planes and regions
- Primordial Wilderness — the principal terrestrial expanse inhabited by the world's clans, sects, and cultivators. 1 159
- Celestial Realm — a separate dimensional plane from the Primordial Wilderness; it became visible to its immortals only after its plane merged with that of the stars. 36
- Netherworld — a distinct dimensional plane containing the Six Paths of Reincarnation, governed by the Reincarnation Dao Lord and Netherworld institutions. 36 117
- Eastern Celestial Pole — a major realm associated with the Azure Dragon lineage and the Azure Sky Divine Tree. 10
- Kunlun Sacred Realm — the shared Daoist sanctum of the Three Pure Ones, whose Chan Sect disciples receive its Calamity Fate recognition. 1 9
- Four Extremes Continent — the former Saintess Great World after its integration; it is positioned above the Abyss of Ending Law and connected to the Primordial World. 358 361 362
Pangu Grotto-Heavens
- Azure Radiance Grotto-Heaven was left by Pangu to nurture geniuses from the Three Thousand Greater Worlds and opens only to younger cultivators rather than Zenith Heaven Golden Immortals. 72
- Buzhou Grotto-Heaven is an ancient, wild Pangu Grotto-Heaven inhabited by enormous beasts and beings resembling the Witch Race. 291
- Eighty-one Pangu Grotto-Heavens exist, each bearing a different name but retaining their nature as Pangu Grotto-Heavens. 300
Laws and World Order
Heavenly, Earthly, and Human Dao
- A world requires the complete union of the Heavenly Dao, Earthly Dao, and Human Dao to develop a true Primordial Spirit and eventually transform. 324
- The Primordial World's Heavenly Dao is not a complete Primordial Spirit because the three Daos have not yet united; it controls only part of heaven and earth's authority. 324
- The Earthly Dao gains a new function when Houtu establishes reincarnation: karmic retribution becomes an active law binding beings throughout All Heavens and Myriad Realms. 113
Spiritual veins and world growth
- The world continuously grows, and its major spiritual veins can grow with it; new branches of Earth Veins produce additional innate spiritual energy. 226
- A damaged Western Ancestor Vein once prevented the West from growing alongside the rest of the world, leaving the Primordial World unevenly developed. 232 237
- Before the Four Extremes Continent's assimilation, the world could accommodate only eight Sages; greater development is presented as necessary for it to support far more Sage-level beings. 237
Relationship with other worlds
- The Primordial World is one among the worlds opened by Pangu, but the other Pangu-created worlds are not identical to it and possess different laws, orthodox sects, and Innate Dao Bodies. 70 71
- Other worlds were formed from the essences of Chaos Demon Gods, just as the Primordial World's myriad things arose from Pangu. 71
- Its Pangu origin gives the Primordial World an exceptionally deep foundation in the eyes of cultivators from other great worlds. 85
Inhabitants and Governance
- The world contains myriad races, including the Human Race, Witch Clan, Demon Race, Plant Spirit Race, Beast Race, Azure Dragon Clan, White Tiger Clan, Vermilion Bird Clan, and Black Tortoise Clan. 128 207
- The races are interdependent: Plant Spirits provide food, alchemical, and medicinal resources; Water Spirits regulate rivers; and Beast Race resources support cultivators who refine blood and flesh. 128
- The Heavenly Protagonist is intended to rule over the races, but Ancestor Hongjun's plan to elevate one race is driven by the historical devastation caused when multiple protagonists competed simultaneously. 207
- Yuanshi Tianzun argues that coexistence itself is not the cause of tribulation, citing the long-standing stability of the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise clans. 207
- The Heavenly Court is the greatest Fate Dynasty in the Primordial Wilderness and serves as a model for later governing systems, including the Netherworld. 133
Relationships
- Pangu — true master and foundational creator; the world's laws, life, and orthodox Pangu Sect originate from him. 71 208
- Ancestor Hongjun — Heavenly Dao Spokesperson and Pangu-appointed Worker responsible for developing the world and managing major transitions. 208 362
- Heavenly Dao — holds partial authority over heaven and earth; its strength and number of Sage Positions rise after the Four Extremes Continent is assimilated. 324 363
- Goddess Houtu — establishes the Six Paths of Reincarnation and extends Earthly Dao karmic retribution across the realms. 113
- God-Emperor Meng Zhang — protects the world during the Witch-Demon Tribulation, preventing severe damage. 185 205
- Meng Chen — expands the world by refining and merging the Saintess Great World, then creates new life and civilization on the barren Four Extremes Continent. 362 363
