A few days later, in the corridor leading to the A History of Magic classroom, Hermione Granger clutched Silas Cyril's arm tightly, afraid he might slip away halfway there.

"Silas! I'm warning you! You are absolutely not allowed to skip A History of Magic this time!" Hermione's tone was firm and beyond dispute. "Professor Binns is Hogwarts' oldest ghost professor! He must know many historical secrets about the school! I have to ask him about the Chamber of Secrets! These attacks are too terrifying! We have to uncover the truth!"

Silas stumbled as Hermione dragged him along, his face full of utter despair.

What he hated most was Professor Binns' hypnotic, utterly monotone lectures, along with all those dull dates and names in A History of Magic.

Making him attend A History of Magic was even more unbearable than making him duel an Acromantula alone in the Forbidden Forest.

"Hermione..." Silas tried to struggle free. "You know I'm not interested in all that ancient nonsense Professor Binns talks about... As for the Chamber of Secrets, why not let Potter worry about it? Isn't he The Boy Who Lived?"

"No!" Hermione's eyes widened. "Harry and Ron are too impulsive! And they can't sit still long enough to do research! We need a more reliable source of information! Professor Binns is our best choice! You have to come with me! What if... what if I uncover some crucial clue? You can help me analyze it too!"

Hermione had played her trump card: "I need your help analyzing it." She knew that while Silas was lazy, he was still interested in solving mysteries and exploring the unknown.

Silas looked at Hermione's determined expression, which plainly said, "If you don't go, I won't let go," then at the thirst for knowledge and worry shining
