Eddie is a Ravenclaw student who first meets Silas Cyril after waking him at the Welcome Feast. He immediately warns Silas not to use a Potions cauldron for cooking, establishing his tendency to involve himself in other people's schemes with equal parts concern and enthusiasm. 17

He later approaches Silas with a plan to make quick money. Their first venture involves gathering shed unicorn mane hairs at the edge of the Forbidden Forest; the expedition instead places them near Voldemort's attack on Hagrid.
