Investigation
Barton hated the other side's blatant audacity, hated his own powerlessness, and hated even more that disorganized, undisciplined bastard who disobeyed his orders.
This increased the squad's casualty count from 3 to 22.
Barton said in a low voice, "Everyone out, bring our teammates' bodies, we're retreating."
Upon hearing Barton's order, the six Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had escaped the attack by driving all got out of the car and, with pained expressions, carried their comrade's body into the vehicle.
The agent who had been standing next to Barton asked again, "What about our mission?"
Barton glanced at the sacrificial image in the center of the plaza behind him and said coldly, "It's finished."
······
On the other side.
Moses and Jane have successfully returned to the base and are now getting some rest.
The High Table tunnels used during the retreat and their whereabouts after returning to New York did not escape the notice of S.H.I.E.L.D.., and were immediately discovered by Sitwell and his team.
Triskelion.
Crossbones was also present in Sitwell's office.
Sitwell looked at the intelligence in his hand, his expression shifting between anger and uncertainty. He had just found an extraordinary creature, only to discover that it was connected to Charlotte.
"That Werewolf Squad led Jane into the base Charlotte had built."
Hearing Sitwell's words, Crossbones was also taken aback. Charlotte Doyle, he had met this person from the beginning and knew that he was someone who should not be provoked.
"Are they seeking refuge with Charlotte?"
"Or are they Charlotte's men?"
Sitwell picked up his coffee from the table, took a sip, and then shook his head. "I don't know."
"Charlotte Agency offers many services, and the possibility of providing shelter cannot be ruled out."
"But the other party went directly to his base, so it's highly likely that they were one of their people."
A hint of disappointment Crossbones' face before he asked, "Are we going to give up?"
"We finally discovered this extraordinary force of Werewolf."
Sitwell thought for a moment, then said, "This is not a matter for us to investigate in person."
"Report the losses and Jane's return to Charlotte Base. I believe Nick Fury will provide the intelligence we need."
Crossbones asked, "What about the Werewolf information? Should it be reported as well?"
"Report it all together, otherwise, with nearly 30 agents dead, someone has to take the blame."
"Yes, I will submit the mission report immediately."
Crossbones didn't linger in the room; he left Sitwell's office directly.
After Crossbones left, Sitwell immediately reported the information to his superior, Pierce.
Upon hearing his subordinates' report and the proposed solution, Pierce stroked his chin, contemplating the potential collaboration with Charlotte Agency.
For the past six months, Hydra has not deployed the Winter Soldier to complete some of the more difficult and dangerous missions. Instead, they have sent them out through mission commissions and bounties from the Continental Hotel.
After investing certain resources, every task was completed perfectly without any mistakes.
"Let Nick Fury test the waters. If it's not Charlotte's people, then we'll intervene."
"If they are Charlotte's men, halt all operations against them."
"How's the analysis of the blood samples you brought back going?"
Upon hearing Pierce's question about the blood samples, Sitwell immediately replied, "After testing and comparison by the Science Team, we found that Werewolf ' genes are very similar to ours."
"Furthermore, Werewolf blood has a strong ability to devour; any contact with ordinary human blood will infect the person and kill the cells in their blood."
"However, because we brought back too little blood, and most of it was contaminated, we can only do some basic data analysis. The Science Team needs us to provide more blood samples."
Pierce shook his head. "We're still lacking material."
"The metal materials will be delivered in a couple of days. We'll arrange for someone to go to the Sunagakure Puppet Shop to exchange them for the enhancement agent."
"This matter cannot be overlooked; let's put the Werewolf issue on hold for now."
"Yes, sir."
······
Crossbones submitted the mission intelligence, noting the presence of the extraordinary Werewolf and how the Werewolf had taken Jane to Charlotte's base.
The mission report was delivered to Director Nick Fury as quickly as possible.
However, he had already given orders from the bureau that all intelligence missions related to the extraordinary and Charlotte should be sent to him for review as soon as possible.
Upon seeing the urgent document, Nick Fury immediately opened it. After reviewing the mission information, Nick Fury face darkened further.
The loss of nearly thirty agents, including highly capable combat personnel like Task Force members, was a painful blow to Nick Fury; these were his men.
"Werewolf, Charlotte Base."
"They took Jane Foster away."
"Charlotte, what exactly are you thinking?"
After thinking for a moment, Nick Fury picked up the phone in front of him and dialed the number.
"Tell Coulson to come to my office."
After giving his instructions, Nick Fury hung up the phone and continued analyzing the intelligence information.
Without keeping Nick Fury waiting, Coulson pushed open the door to the Director's office.
"Sir, you wanted to see me?"
Nick Fury glanced at Coulson and said calmly, "Jane Foster has been kidnapped, but she's been taken to Charlotte's base."
"We lost nearly thirty agents in the process."
Upon hearing this news, Coulson was stunned for a moment, then asked incredulously, "Charlotte and the others kidnapped Jane?"
"Aren't they connected to Asgard?"
"It's unreasonable that so many agents were killed for this."
Nick Fury tossed the mission report in front of him directly to Coulson.
"See for yourself!"
Coulson opened the file folder and immediately began reading the mission report.
"Wolf... Werewolf?"
"Have these creatures started appearing too?"
After reading the mission report, Coulson pondered for a moment before speaking, "Director, I don't think this matter is simple."
"Perhaps there are things we don't know, and we've never heard of Charlotte having Werewolf among her men."
"Coulson, this task is yours."
"Go to Charlotte Agency and find out why they took Jane away."
"Jane's life absolutely cannot be compromised. Another thing is to ask Charlotte what's going on with these Werewolf and find out about them."
"Our agents' lives cannot be sacrificed in vain."
Following the Director's instructions, Coulson nodded.
"Sir, I'll go to Charlotte Agency right away and investigate this matter."
