The spar between Tang San and Dai Mubai had no suspense whatsoever.
Level thirty-seven Dai Mubai completely overwhelmed level twenty-nine Tang San, who had only just come down from the mountains.
In the end, Dai Mubai generously gave the room to Tang San. With his arms around the twins' slender waists, he swaggered out of the hotel.
"Would he really be that kind-hearted?" Ning Rongrong asked quietly.
Ning Tianchen chuckled. "Perhaps he thought of another fun way to handle things."
Before he could continue, Dai Mubai came toward them with the twin sisters in his arms.
"You two look familiar. My name is Dai Mubai. You're also planning to enroll at Shrek Academy, right?"
Ning Rongrong gave him a disdainful glance but did not answer.
Dai Mubai's gaze fell on Ning Tianchen, and he actually sensed a hint of danger from him.
Especially those eyes of his—they were remarkably sharp.
If this person joined Shrek Academy, he would make an excellent sparring partner.
Ning Tianchen replied casually, "I heard Shrek Academy's admission standards are strict. We might not necessarily get in."
Dai Mubai laughed. "If you can't get in, I'm afraid there aren't many people on this continent who can. Haha, when you get to Shrek Academy, remember the name Dai Mubai, the Evil Eye White Tiger."
With that, he left with the twin sisters.
The main reason he had come over to speak with Ning Tianchen and Ning Rongrong was because of Ning Rongrong's earlier praise.
Dai Shao found that sort of flattery quite pleasing, and he did not mind making a few more friends.
"Tianchen Gege, we're not playing with him. You can't learn his bad habits either." Ning Rongrong put her hands on her hips, her face full of vigilance.
Ning Tianchen smiled in agreement, then headed into the hotel.
Tang San and Xiao Wu had just received their room key and were about to go upstairs when they heard Ning Rongrong's voice.
"Are you here to enroll at Shrek Academy too?"
Since she had a favorable impression of Tang San, she decided to take the opportunity to befriend him.
Tang San's eyesight was excellent. When he had fought Dai Mubai earlier, he had caught sight of Ning Tianchen and Ning Rongrong outside through the corner of his eye.
The carefree Xiao Wu immediately replied, "You are too?"
Ning Rongrong stepped forward. "My name is Ning Rongrong, and this is Ning Tianchen. Since we're all going to enroll at Shrek Academy, why don't we travel together tomorrow? We happen to be staying here too."
"Hello, I'm Tang San. This is Xiao Wu, my younger sister." Tang San took the initiative to extend his hand toward Ning Tianchen.
His powers of observation were exceptionally sharp. From Ning Tianchen and Ning Rongrong's attire, he could tell that they were children of a great clan.
Ning Tianchen wore a smile on his face, but the sharpness in his eyes could not be concealed.
"Hello." Ning Tianchen shook his hand.
Although he did not like Tang San, this was their first meeting after all. There was no reason for him to be discourteous.
"That Evil Eye White Tiger was infuriating just now. We clearly booked that room first, yet he insisted on taking it from us." Xiao Wu said indignantly.
Ning Rongrong nodded in deep agreement. "And not just that. You don't know this, but this morning, that Evil Eye Lecherous Tiger came here with a young woman. Then this afternoon, he brought a pair of twin sisters. Who knows, maybe he'll find someone else tonight."
The two girls seemed to have found a common topic and launched into a round of criticism against Dai Mubai.
Seeing this, Tang San smiled helplessly and slowly turned his gaze toward Ning Tianchen.
Someone from a great clan like him probably wouldn't enjoy talking to someone like me.
Muttering inwardly, he chose not to strike up a conversation with him.
Ning Tianchen did not know what Tang San was thinking. Since this was their first meeting, being overly familiar would not be appropriate either.
Afterward, Tang San and Xiao Wu rested briefly in their room before deciding to take a walk around the city.
Although they found Flender's little shop, they did not obtain anything useful.
As Tang San left the shop, he felt an inexplicable sense of loss.
"Third Brother, are you all right?" Xiao Wu looked at him with concern.
Tang San shook his head, feeling vaguely puzzled. "I don't know why, but I feel like I've lost something important."
Xiao Wu looked around, then suddenly said playfully, "Third Brother, I'm still by your side. You haven't lost me."
Teased by her words, Tang San immediately snapped out of it. "You're right. You're my most important family."
The next morning.
Ning Tianchen and Ning Rongrong met Tang San and Xiao Wu in front of the hotel.
"We heard Shrek Academy is outside the city. Have you found out anything?" Xiao Wu blinked at Ning Rongrong.
"It is indeed outside the city. But I don't think their campus is actually in the village outside the city. Maybe this kind of environment is simply a test for us." Ning Rongrong voiced her opinion.
Tang San stroked his chin. "My teacher once said that Shrek Academy is an extraordinary academy. Perhaps Rongrong is right—the humble exterior is merely a test for us."
"Your teacher must be a wise man, then?" Ning Tianchen said casually.
Tang San seemed not to grasp the implication behind his words and actually replied with a smile, "That's right. My teacher is indeed very intelligent. The cultivation plans for Xiao Wu and me were all made by him."
Xiao Wu had no particular regard for Yu Xiaogang.
Her true form was a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast, so she had a certain understanding of the soul master world.
Many of Yu Xiaogang's theories had been proposed by scholars ten thousand years ago.
Xiao Wu only refrained from exposing this because of Tang San.
"No time to waste. Let's hurry over." Ning Rongrong waved toward the side, and the coachman drove the carriage over to them.
"Let's take the carriage. We can get off once we're close to the academy," Ning Rongrong suggested with a smile.
Xiao Wu naturally did not want to walk. Just as she was about to get into the carriage, Tang San pulled her back.
"Wouldn't that be inappropriate? We—"
Ning Rongrong said openly, "We're all friends. There's nothing inappropriate about it."
As she spoke, she pulled Xiao Wu into the carriage.
Ning Tianchen glanced at Tang San. "Come on. Don't delay the enrollment."
Tang San thanked him and boarded the carriage anyway.
As the child of a blacksmith—or so he believed—it was his first time riding in such a luxurious carriage.
No one knew what he was thinking, but Ning Tianchen saw his fists clench tightly.
After One Incense Stick Time.
Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong lifted the curtains over the carriage windows on both sides. Not far ahead of them stood a village.
Seeing the long line at the village entrance, Xiao Wu said, "Shrek Academy's registration site is over there, right?"
The coachman replied with a smile, "Guests, Shrek Academy is just ahead. Where would you like to get off?"
"Let's get off here."
Ning Tianchen lifted the carriage curtain and sprang down in a single leap.
Tang San refused to be outdone and followed closely behind.
"Hey, hey, hey! Can't you just get out properly?" Ning Rongrong complained as she gracefully stepped down from the carriage.
Xiao Wu was not so particular. With her nimble figure, she simply jumped down.
