Background

Tang San studied under Yu Xiaogang from his years at Notting Academy before entering Shrek Academy with Xiao Wu. Yu Xiaogang regarded him as the disciple through whom his spirit-master theories could be put into practice. 61

At Shrek, Tang San initially presented himself as humble and recognized Ning Tianchen as stronger than himself, particularly because the Seven Kill Sword countered his Blue Silver Grass. He nevertheless remained confident in his hidden weapons and combat techniques. 27 63

Tang San later reunited with his father, Tang Hao, after eight years apart. Tang Hao revealed himself as the Clear Sky Douluo and encouraged Tang San to compete for the Spirit Bones awarded to the Spirit Master Competition champions. 168 169

Tang San is determined, competitive, and highly protective of Xiao Wu, his father, and his allies. When the Titan Giant Ape abducts Xiao Wu, he immediately attempts to pursue it despite the dangers of flying through the Star Dou Great Forest. 60

He is also calculating in battle. He provokes Meng Yiran into losing her composure, uses her chaotic attacks to conserve stamina, and defeats five successive opponents from Exotic Beast Academy. 230
