Sasuke met Itachi and planned to bring him back to Konoha while the brothers trained and discussed the Uchiha massacre. Sasuke then trained with the life-energy-rich water in the Land of the Western Extremities, awakened new Sharingan abilities, and began fighting Kumogakure ninja who had attacked him.

• Sasuke studied how hand seals directed Chakra and learned that Tsunade had taken control of the Land of Whirlpools while Danzo came under scrutiny.
• Sasuke was promoted to Special Jonin at the border, entered the Land of Grass, and met Deidara and Sasori, who tested his strength before Itachi arrived.
• Sasuke asked Itachi to return to Konoha and help rebuild their family, shared his plans for Danzo and Akatsuki, and gave Itachi materials to make a weapon.
• Sasuke and Itachi sparred repeatedly, with Itachi teaching him to broaden his ninjutsu and adapt to his surroundings, while Sasuke urged Itachi to protect the people he cared about in Konoha.
• Sasuke traveled to the Land of the Western Extremities, tested the energy-rich lake water, and began Cell Activation training in his inn room.
• Killer B explained the effects of Lightning Release and apologized for Kumogakure's unauthorized attack on Sasuke, while Samui reported Sasuke's promotion and Konoha's control of the Land of Whirlpools.
• After three months of training, Sasuke awakened the Six Tomoe Sharingan and gained Amaterasu and control over its flames, then warned the village chief that the object at the village center could bring disaster.

Sasuke tested himself against Killer B, captured Disonas, and traveled to Eagle Nest Mountain to learn Sage Art. After returning to Konoha, he reunited with Naruto and Sakura and began Kakashi’s test to assess Team 7.

• Sasuke fought Killer B in a spar, using Taijutsu and ninjutsu before surrendering when the Eight-Tails overwhelmed him.
• Sasuke captured Disonas in Ye Chang Village and helped Asuma’s squad uncover scrolls containing an incomplete record of Impure World Reincarnation and information about Summoning Animal habitats.
• Sasuke sought out Isobu, negotiated five days of sparring, then refused the Three-Tails’ offer to become his Jinchuriki and used Reverse Summoning to enter an Alternate Dimension.
• Sasuke found the Eagle Clan, climbed Eagle Nest Mountain to sign its contract, and trained to sense natural energy while learning the Clan’s Free Sage Art.
• Sasuke returned to Konoha as Naruto and Jiraiya arrived, then reunited with Naruto and Sakura at the Hokage Tower and learned Kakashi would assess Team 7.
• Sasuke warned Sakura that Akatsuki would target Naruto, and Team 7 gathered at the Third Training Ground for Kakashi’s bell test.

Team 7 rescued Gaara from Akatsuki, with Sasuke defeating Deidara and Sasori before returning to Konoha. After Yamato joined Team 7, Sasuke reconsidered his cultivation and trained to expand his chakra abilities, then received a new mission to help stop Akatsuki’s hunt for the Three-Tails.

• Sasuke led Team 7 through the bell test, then gave Tsunade Itachi’s intelligence about Akatsuki and learned that Gaara had been captured.
• Team 7 reached Sunagakure, where Sakura treated Kankuro and Sasuke identified Deidara’s explosive clay as a target for Lightning Release.
• Sasuke and the others pursued Akatsuki into the Land of Rivers, fought impostors of Itachi and Kisame, and broke into the cave where Gaara was being drained.
• Sasuke severed Gaara’s connection to the Demonic Statue and rescued him, then fought Deidara and escaped his final self-detonation with Kamui.
• Sasuke entered the cave and defeated Sasori, sealing his core before Gaara awoke and the Konoha and Sand teams returned to Sunagakure.
• Back in Konoha, Tsunade assigned Yamato to Team 7, and Sasuke reconsidered his cultivation after learning about the world’s chakra attributes and his own beliefs about order.
• Sasuke trained at Eagle Nest Mountain, cultivated all nine chakra types through Nine-Cycle Space, and returned to Konoha with little visible progress.
• Tsunade told Sasuke and Sakura that Akatsuki had captured the Two-Tails Jinchuriki and assigned Team 7 to help stop the hunt for the Three-Tails, and Sasuke began studying the Scroll of Seals.

Sasuke secretly arranged for the Three-Tails to retreat to Eagle Nest Mountain, then helped Konoha defeat Kakuzu and Hidan. He studied Hidan’s immortality in secret and left Konoha investigating a seal to preserve injured people during transport.

• Sasuke reached the Three-Tails, proposed his plan to unite the nations, and made a summoning contract with it before it escaped Guren and withdrew toward Eagle Nest Mountain.
• Sasuke and Konoha’s teams battled Kakuzu and Hidan, who severed three of the Three-Tails’ tails before fleeing with them.
• Sasuke confronted Guren over her treatment of Yūkimaru, then grew more resentful of Konoha after Kakashi and the other Jonin failed to support his interrogation.
• Sasuke and Sakura discovered the Land of Sky’s warships and crippled the fleet before the Sky Ninja could attack Konoha.
• Sasuke led Kakashi’s team to the Fire Temple, where he defeated and sealed Hidan while Naruto and the others fought Kakuzu.
• Sasuke destroyed Kakuzu with a Wind Release Rasenshuriken, and Konoha’s team returned with both enemies defeated.
• Sasuke secretly dissected Hidan’s remains, broke the seals sustaining his immortality, and later gave Kakashi the corpse scroll.
